BIG-NABZ I would immediately request a refund if I don't hear them when I buy it... Well... I would probably try to finish it in an hour, then the refund.
7:34 This cacodemon moment and the part where the zombie gets his head punched down into his body was my favorite parts of the demonstration id did. A game this gritty really needs that grain of silliness thrown in. If a game like this took itself too seriously, it would loose the appeal for me. So I am really glad they do stuff like that. I mean, come on, it's a game about hell coming to earth through portals with a out-of-this-world steroid pumped dude who single-handedly is going to save everything by jumping around like a maniac while shooting demons. You need some silliness to soften that up a bit. :D
CaptToilet What has ID done to make you think that the cacodemon part won't be in the game. I am 99% sure you are wrong about it. Why would they show off the fact that a cacodemon staggers and shows itself inflate as an explosive goes off inside if they don't intend to keep it. Obviously it's part of the game code already, why would they remove it? I don't remember anything from the Doom 2016 presentation that was taken out, in fact, things were added to it.
It just seems too scripted. Games have shown these scripted events in the past that don't appear in the final product. if it is there then good for them. I rather keep my expectations low, no matter how excited I am for a game.
Very much agreed on the arena gameplay. It was excellent in Doom 2016 but got a bit repetitive after the first few levels. I really hope they only use it for special occasions in Eternal and stick to a more open approach, which this gameplay suggests.
It really turned me off the first one. So much that I didn't finish the game, I got to yet another obvious arena, what felt like the 6th in a row, and didn't even bother going in. Turns out it was the last one before the final boss.
That's funny, I can't say I looked at the teeth/mouths in Doom (2016) and thought "that's low poly", lol, but then I'm old enough to remember a time when Quake, with its block-fisted baddies was seen as "high poly", so some minute differences in model complexity generally don't bother me/I don't notice.
What would be great added to this game is the doom guy face icon in the original doom games bottom of the screen on the original game where's he's looking left and right and his face icon getting more bloody as he gets hurt and that scream when he's killed
Most exciting thing for me to hear is that they want to make the engine fully moddable. Of course there were no promises but on Doom 2016 they were able to deliver a lot post release on the snap side, and they've got a lot of common sense and a publisher that seems to care a lot about user generated content -- I really think they've at least got a fighting chance of being able to do that.
WOW the energy you two have together is amazing. I love when you guys get excited and have fun! It makes the whole video have a positive vibe to it! More of these please!
FreePenguin5000 I completely agree, I thought it was one of the best looking shooters when I first played it on my upgraded PC but this blows it out the water
Its the same when you compare some of the graphics of the best looking games of 2015 to the best looking games of 2018. Witcher 3's graphics looks normal when compared to Monster Hunter World, God Of War and Shadow of the colossus.
I'm glad you both geeked out. I did too. Feels good to be excited. I'll switch back to cautiously optimistic in time for release, but for now I'm gonna giggle with glee while I still can!
24:52 Feel the love in their voices, my friends. The respect for the art. You guys are amazing. More emotional videos like this please!!!! We need it in these dark times. ❤️
The 1up just saves you from having to restart from the checkpoint. As they described it, when you reach zero hp the visuals get desaturated, you are immune to damage for a short while and your hp is replenished.
Doom 2016 is the best first person shooter I’ve ever played. The response time from my controller inputs to onscreen action were so crispy. The speed and brutality is an outward expression of my inner turmoil and darkness. I love this game. You guys are amazing. Keep the high energy up!!!!
Di Almighty Spartan God - With respecr, do you want the INEVITABLE Streaming Only Future to come as soon as possible? Or as late as possible??? Xbox is going to support Streaming-Xbox next gen as its best-seller, selling it for 100$ so it will out sell their clasicall next gen Xbox 4:1... On other hand PS5 will only be typical hard core console with added option of streaming via PSNOW (in ONE console!)... So, why would ANYONE want to push crossplay between Streaming and Non-streaming games!?... And after those corporations who orgasm to "streaming only future", find an alley to further their agenda FASTER then we will get into state of SHIT sooner - BUT ONLY IF we keep having at least one platform holder that is predominantly Non-streaming we can postpone that - and we should be glad if such platform keeps its dominance on the market for at least a few years more - TO STAVE OFF A FUCKING STREAMING ONLY FUTURE!
Exactly! Now imagine if a AAA game was held back and not released on Sony. Sony would lose money. They would continue to lose money as long as they keep their non crossplay box.

@@duryx4223 That was intentionally slow because they were showing off new mechanics and environments etc. These new DOOM games actually work really well with a controller it is clear that the games were also designed with controller in mind. I mean, this is not a precision shooter. With ID software claiming the ID tech 7 engine supports up to 10 times the geometric detail compared to ID tech 6 it would be really neat to see dead bodies/enemies staying in the map instead of dissappearing after a couple of seconds.
Blue Falcon I loved Doom 2016, and I think it’s still one of the best looking games of this generation, but that was one of my biggest nitpicks about the game. I really wished dead enemies would stay around like they did in the original games. I imagine that they did it to reduce the load consoles have to bear running a game looking as good as Doom 2016 while still keeping it at 60fps. But it was disappointing that there wasn’t even an option on PC for that. But if this new game can pull off that, then it’ll be bliss.
Thanks DF. Until this video, I had yet to hear anyone make the comparisons between "Eternal" and the insane difficulty of Doom 2's later levels. Does it appear to anyone else that this game ramps up the amount of enemies on screen a la Doom 2? I hope that that is exactly what they're going for and that they succeed. I really don't care if some players think the game is too hard compared to the previous one. Longtime fans know that Doom 2 was much, much more difficult than Doom 1. Completing Doom 2 was a real accomplishment. I would love for the later levels to be crawling with enemies. So long as it is paced well and handled correctly. Made me feel like I was playing a 90s shooter again but with modern mechanics and graphics but still felt like a classic. Well done Id well done indeed I look forward to diving into doom again day one purchase.

Cameron Hunter Yeah, but as someone that played Doom 2016 on a PS4, I can say that playing it on PC made it more fun for me. You have ALOT more gameplay freedom.
Im not really sure what tech theyre using for the pieces of the demons popping off as you shoot them, but i believe it is like valves previously developed technology from lfd2. Which used a special method of cutting chunks out of models revealing inner textures and gibs. Pretty interesting tho, you should watch 3kliksphilip's video on it but its mostly about csgo and how it uses the same tech.
About the 1ups, when the pvp invasion happened in the footage, it showed "Last Life" in the top left next to the invader's health. Maybe the lives are only associated with the pvp aspect? For example, maybe the extra lives enable you to invade others or you only lose a life when you die to an invader.
I agree with your criticisms towards the latter half of DOOM 2016., relying on large arenas for combat. It does come off as sorta lazy or at least running out of interesting level layouts. You almost assuming with large open boxed rooms that they are going to spawn in dozens of demons and it does get stale feeling like a cat and mouse chase just strafing endlessly. Especially if those "arenas" aren't complex or lack vertiallity, it just devolves into boring circling. this game may fix that issue with the strut towards verticallity,
Wow really, as far as I can remember Doom 2016 did have only OpenGL and Vulkan, no directx. And now it is Vulkan only, damn, id software really doesn't like their API extra T H I C C, now do they?
+Allan Candaza There is nothing holding back users to switch to Vulkan except the drivers not supporting Vulkan. But than again, if you card is so old and that it has no support for Vulkan you weren't able to run Doom 2016 anyway. On the other hand you have no choice on a system where you don't have DirectX support, unlike Vulkan which is practically cross platform supported.
I hoped gore and those meat bits flying of would look better and cooler. Im gonna disable that blue glow straight away, it kinda ruins it.... They need to add option for more subtle glow!!
Just want to remind everyone that with the 1.2 patch for TNC the courthouse scene’s average resolution is 660p and a LOCKED 30 FPS not bad for the second most demanding area in the game. (The reason I’m not using the New Orleans scene for this is because I don’t have the exact numbers for that area, but know it is comparable)
9:41 People that delved into Doom 2016's snapmap mode know, in a more basic way, how the game works. Enemies can be placed manually and individually, as part of an event or in wave form. I'm sure programmers with their full access to the game mechanics, will do their best to deliver a great game. Doom 2016 was a surprise hit, and even though the multiplayer kinda failed, it's without any doubt, 2016's best FPS game. Has DF ever done an analysis/tech discussionj on id tech game engine?
Definitely looking forward to t his one after how well they did with Doom 2016. Very curious if there are going to be any secret levels calling back to some of the ones from Doom 2 as well...
You know, they said the switch version was a "first class citizen", but it doesn't look like a game they developing with a portable console in mind! I would be curious to see what the switch version looks like!
IdTech always had that mantra of optimization first before everything. I am glad that they are keeping faithfull to it post John Carmack. I remember how BSP maps were revolutionary in terms of efficiency. Such a shame that other game developers rarely use it. They need to follow whatever Epic Games is doing with UE, and have this engine be more mainstream.
As much as I loved doom 2016, I’m an old school fan that loved the jump from doom to doom 2, if anything akin to that happens this time, were in for a classic.
DF has WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY too little subscribers than it deserves!!! And who the f**k gives those videos dislikes?! I can't understand! For now DF is THE BEST channel on RUclips!
If you geek out about ANY game... This is the Game ! I totally share your happy expectation ( vorfreude). Also I am interested if future iterations of the Id engine will be able to use more than 1 gpu. Looking forward to your indepth tests of Doom Eternal !
Quake Champions already has your ultimate crossover, and it's Free To Play. Ranger, BJ, The Slayer, and many characters from Quake 3. Like Visor, Anarki, and Slash.
oh by the way... "Ranger" is the player character from the original Quake. A "rongeur" is a surgical tool used for ripping and tearing flesh. So if Ranger does make an appearance in a Doom game, you should expect many mortifying puns from the more medically inclined.
These new visuals have left me absolutely speechless. I would have thought this was a concept demo for future nvidia tech had I not seen the conference myself. This makes wolf 2 look like a last gen game. I cant . I just. Cant
I loved the part of the presentation where they started controlling the game using M+KB and the guy playing the demo goes nuts with fast 180's to show off the snappy controls.
I hope there is more reveal PR stuff over this game. I will be waiting for the DF content to match. Also Alex is a good match to John imo. Maybe we could he see him collaborate on some DF retro PC related episode (As it seems Alex is more of a PC guy).
Did anyone else notice a demon go missing on the hell on Earth mission after the second introductory grapple? Unless the shotgun has some back blast or something like that
Something to consider is GPUs haven't gotten more powerful since 2016 (sure adoption of the more contemporary/powerful SKUs has increased). But I'd wager the main reason for the increase in geometric complexity comes down to simply one thing; IdTech is now a Vulkan exclusive technology. And they've further embraced compute workloads, and low-level in general. The lower overhead and higher geometric budget has always been one of Vulkan's most compelling benefits (truly unleashed when there isn't any legacy API cruft to worry about, which most implementations of Vulkan thus far have been burdened with). Curious to see what the geometric budget looks like on the console release/if theey maintain 60FPS target. don't see it as impossible with an engine refactor.
Those are some cool looking mortally challenged individuals.
Silikone I find that offensive!

About the 1ups, when the pvp invasion happened in the footage, it showed "Last Life" in the top left next to the invader's health. Maybe the lives are only associated with the pvp aspect? For example, maybe the extra lives enable you to invade others or you only lose a life when you die to an invader.
Loved the Ranger overlay :D
I agree with your criticisms towards the latter half of DOOM 2016., relying on large arenas for combat. It does come off as sorta lazy or at least running out of interesting level layouts. You almost assuming with large open boxed rooms that they are going to spawn in dozens of demons and it does get stale feeling like a cat and mouse chase just strafing endlessly. Especially if those "arenas" aren't complex or lack vertiallity, it just devolves into boring circling. this game may fix that issue with the strut towards verticallity,
14:38 at a Vulkan GDC conference ID said they're no longer have, or using OpenGL in the PC version of the game. Just thought i'd let you know.
Wow really, as far as I can remember Doom 2016 did have only OpenGL and Vulkan, no directx. And now it is Vulkan only, damn, id software really doesn't like their API extra T H I C C, now do they?
butthurt to DirectX and OpenGL users hahahaha
+Allan Candaza
There is nothing holding back users to switch to Vulkan except the drivers not supporting Vulkan. But than again, if you card is so old and that it has no support for Vulkan you weren't able to run Doom 2016 anyway. On the other hand you have no choice on a system where you don't have DirectX support, unlike Vulkan which is practically cross platform supported.
reminds me more of the very creative doom 2016 mp maps
Yea especially when both have the same aesthetics.
YOU ARE HUGE. YOU HAVE HUGE GUTS. RIP AND TEAR YOUR GUTS
The only one who can rip and tear your guts is Doom guy
Doom 2 soundtrack in the background. Nice touch :)
I hoped gore and those meat bits flying of would look better and cooler. Im gonna disable that blue glow straight away, it kinda ruins it.... They need to add option for more subtle glow!!
Really cannot wait! Awesome video by the way! :3
The only things that make me said are the fact that I adored the DOOM (2016) designs for the Plasma Rifle and the Mancubus.
John and Alex really are a perfect team.
I LOVE TO SEE THEM WORK AS A TEAM!
Don't stop until you drop, boys ;)
Wow! When will it be out?
Definitely looking forward to t his one after how well they did with Doom 2016. Very curious if there are going to be any secret levels calling back to some of the ones from Doom 2 as well...
You know, they said the switch version was a "first class citizen", but it doesn't look like a game they developing with a portable console in mind! I would be curious to see what the switch version looks like!
That looks jaw-droppingly stunning.
What is TNC?
EDIT: nevermind, the new colossus
Cant wait to play this on my ONE X
oh by the way... "Ranger" is the player character from the original Quake. A "rongeur" is a surgical tool used for ripping and tearing flesh.
So if Ranger does make an appearance in a Doom game, you should expect many mortifying puns from the more medically inclined.
doom64 is a way underrated doom and i think it was much better than the actual pc versions.
I wouldn't say better than The Ultimate Doom. Better than Doom 2 though, imo.
I can’t wait for this to come out.
Hi! Do you plan to upload a test of dragon ball fighterz beta for switch? I dont know which console version to decide on.
„Keep playing doom“ yes sir I will! „Salutes to screen“
But will Eternal support HDR this time?
These new visuals have left me absolutely speechless. I would have thought this was a concept demo for future nvidia tech had I not seen the conference myself.
This makes wolf 2 look like a last gen game. I cant . I just. Cant
I loved the part of the presentation where they started controlling the game using M+KB and the guy playing the demo goes nuts with fast 180's to show off the snappy controls.
the grappling hook, double jump and dash reminds me of Metroid Prime
Please remain calm
You missed the Arachnotron music when he encounters the first one during the gameplay. Was a remix version of the 2016 version! Props to Mick Gordon!
Unless the shotgun has some back blast or something like that
Can't wait for play this on my powerful 2013' PS4.
doom + quake gameplay Wise = WIN
Can't wait!
Kind of off topic but I’d love to okay Doom with the unreal tournament flak cannon!
I see a lot of Quake in Doom Eternal, and I love it.
I still wish Doom's artstyle wasn't so cartoonish. It takes away from the grit the older games had
I can't get my head around this either. Why??
