Thanks so much for watching! Were you a fan of Coconut Fred's Fruit Salad Island? Should the show have been given a longer chance to find its own voice?
The voice actor of Fred, Rob Paulson, said this was the only voice role he's ever regretted. This is a man who voiced roles in the godawful
Coconut Fred's Fruit Salad Island was like Kids' WB wanted their own Spongebob and then made not that.
Thank you for giving credit to my recording of Rob Paulson at his Q&A of his book signing from 2019. Special shout out to my good friend SwagKirby for inviting me to that book signing back then. Rob was really great to see in person. It's nice to know that one recording session still sees attention every now and then for some questions that die-hard cartoon fans want to know.
Coconut Fred is like one of the multiversal variants of Spongebob Squarepants that nobody talked about, but has a personality of a sugar cereal, which explains his extreme hyperactive nature.
Many of the animators including Matt Danner originally intended to have Go Go Moba Boy be a full series on Kids WB but was rejected in favor of this.
This is one of the two roles Rob Paulson thoroughly regrets doing. The other being Bubsy from that dropped Bubsy series pilot from the 90's.
"WAIT... Remember Coconut Fred's Fruit Salad Island?"
I mostly remember this show for its theme song and how Kids’ WB kinda pushed Fred to be their mascot. They wanted their own SpongeBob so bad.
I unfortunately did watch this show back in the day. Looking back at it nearly 20 years later later it was a weird fever dream of a show.
I actually do remember it!

I was officially introduced to Coconut Fred when watching a video from RUclipsr, Vailskibum, back in 2017, where he talked about it being considered a SpongeBob rip-off.
It is one of those animated Warner Bros. shows that are nowhere to be available legally, not on iTunes, Amazon Prime, or even Max.
Man it felt like yesterday I watched that show and gave it a bad review at the time as a kid. Looking at it now, the production history is so fascinating.
I'd be in complete shock if you remember This Just In (Spike TV series from 2004), Shuriken School, Will and DeWitt, Sidekick, Scaredy Squirrel, Boyster and/or Cloudy W/ A Chance of Meatballs 2017 existed.
Crazy how far you’ve come, I remember way back in the day you made videos about Spyro. Keep it up!
Spongebob:
if you do anymore obscure tv shows I would love to see you talk about the show "space goofs" because the show's history alone is really interesting (and don't forget the fugu fish meme from a year back)
This is one of the few SpongeBob clones that doesn't have a main female friend who acts as Sandy Cheeks's stand in (Also, the fact that the female friend also acts the love interest in those shows, unlike the original show they based on).
