One of the most underrated rock/metal guitarists of all-time IMO. Great interview Jason, thank you for doing this! Carlos looks great, glad he is doing well.
Carlos really is one of the nicest guys from that entire scene. He and Rudy are both class acts. Was nice to hear him open up about the entire history of the band. I saw Quiet Riot December 1983 at the Westfalhalle Dortmund West Germany with Ozzy Osborne, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Scorpions, Def Leppard, Krokus and the Micheal Schenker Group..... what a time to be a teenager and in Germany where the drinking age is 16!!

Carlos looks like he's in better shape than I currently am in and I'm 45. He's definitely a legend guitarist who's been influential to many guitar players such as myself.
I used to own a Marshall 1960 4x12 speaker cab that was played through by Carlos. When Quiet Riot played a concert in Hawaii, they rented their equipment for the show. The guy who ran the music store that rented equipment, sold off everything and I ended up with that cab soon after I moved to Hawaii.
A promoter called me and needed to rent an amp for the quiet riot show in Indiana. I told him I had a 100 watt Marshall for $100 and a 50 watt Marshall for $50.00 and a 30 watt Marshall for $30. Plus tickets to the show. I felt like a doucebag watching one of my hero’s playing through my 30 watt amp but I hated that promoter. Carlos made it sound really good! Go figure
Great to see the underrated Carlos Cavazo again! Nice job asking the pertinent questions, but also knowing when not to push too far when it came to the falling out with Frankie Banali. I have the last CD the core lineup made, Guilty Pleasures. It's a shame things couldn't work out with those guys. That record is very good.
Quiet riot sounded so good but since they’re was no echo from the indoor stadium there wasn’t the huge stadium sound QR usually had. Same thing with Crue and Priest at that festival. Though they sounded amazing they sounded muffled which was just wrong
My favorite of the 3 was qr3. They started to mature about that time but people just didn't want it I guess... the forth with the different singer was good too

1983 was a banner year for metal - Maiden "Piece of Mind" KISS "Lick It Up(my favorite 80's KISS album) Motley "Shout at the Devil" Metallica "Kill'em All" Sabbath "Born Again" Dio "Holy Diver" - it almost doesn't get better than 1983.
@@angryagain3801 Yep - 84 and 85 were great too, then as 1986 came about the focus on ballads was driving so many unworthy bands to be signed, or at least be pigeonholed for those ballads. I always say tho: the worst bands of the 80's would be far better than the most popular bands of today.

My favorite Carlos Cavazo guitar moments occur in the re-recording of “Don’t Wanna Let You Go 1999” off of Alive and Well. That acoustic solo is so tasteful & badass.

we opened for QR once on their "Randy Years" tour in shreveport (1994 or so). Carlos was by far the coolest guy in the band. He spent time with us and asked us to walk him to the hotel a block or two away. By the end of the night all I wanted was to kick dubrows ass. carlos stopped me. He handled it like a pro and I learned a valuable lesson about ego. Wussup and much appreciation to Carlos for that. and kudos on the channel. love it.
To make a long story short he caught an attitude with me. I wish it hadnt happened. It went on through the day and into the night. Had to do with his wig falling off and how he signed my randy years poster. I called him off the bus and he wouldnt come. Im sure carlos remembers but i hope he dont. Carlos might have been the most gracious interview. Short answers. Strait to the point. Upbeat attitude. Side note. When you bring up a deceased band member it's a tribute to them. Honoring them. Bringing back their memories. After this interview I went to bed with Kevin dubrow and Frankie on my mind. Same with type o-negative Pete Steele. Your killing these interviews Jason.
Yep , I was in 7th grade , priest, QR, Dio, Def lep, ozzy, VH ,scorps, all on the radio. Good times.
I remember seeing him with Snow at the Starwood. And who come in to see him play David Lee.A crazy night of hanging with my buds from Nor Cal
Awesome memory!
I miss the Starwood so much...It was the Place to be
Always thought he was underrated. He's a fantastic player. Hopefully he'll be in the Ratt lineup when they get their shit together.
Steven quit all drugs but he still smokes
Carlos is amazing and perfect in RATT.
Saw him in concert with Quiet Riot in Puerto Rico around 1983. Great memories!!
Me too,December 3,1983
@@johnmieles2504 Great memories!!
2nd concert.el primero blue oyster cult
@@johnmieles2504 BOC, Michael Bolton and Roxx a band from Miami, FL. I was at that concert also!!
I think it's nice that Carlos stopped by even though the channel doesn't have a million subs, he's a genuinely nice guy. You did a great job interviewing him, subscribed.
Awesome interview!! Love Carlos since 83' He hung out in my high school locker for 4 years! (Well 3.5 yrs but that's another story) lol He plays the soundtrack of MY life. Thanxx!!
That’s great! Thanks for sharing your memory & glad you enjoyed the interview.
I'm telling you for me Carlos was the first guitar player who looked REALLY cool! Even his name.
His solo on hear n aid totally rocks out! 🤘🏽👍🏽
I can only imagine the awesome quality and phenomenal sounds we would get if we could have heard Carlos, Robbin and Warren all three playing together!! Now that would be a dream sound I'd really love hearing for sure!!!! I really love all three of these guys, some of my favorite guitarists ever!!!!!
In my opinion, I feel Carlos is up there with Randy Rhoads, Eddie Van Halen and Bruce Kulick etc.
As a humble person, for sure, as a player, not even close. Nothing he has done broke new ground. Now if we’re talking Lynch, sure.
@@pretzelrides3748 ah man. Well, there are Many, Many great 🎸 guitar players. Carlos did not make enough noise. He is a professional guitar player though.
Rirchard Rubio definitely, man. I don't care if he doesn't have any innovation credits to his name- the man could write a melodic, memorable solo; a good balance of wank and taste.
Well, I love Carlos as well!!! But, god rest his soul Randy Rhodes was on his way to Jimmy Paige type static!!! Also, Ace Frehley was amazing, let's not forget about him!!! Thanks
I love Carlos playing but he isnt in the same league as EVH...EVH TOTALLY influenced every single 80's bands guitar players styles.
Saw quiet riot down the road from my house I grew up in in my hometown summer 93 Carlos was the most mind-blowing famous guitarist that was ever at this place most of the country might think he's nothing but I'm telling you he is a world-class hard Rock lead Force to still be reckoned with
Great interview! Carlos seems like the coolest, loved his insight and stories. Thank you for this interview Jason!
Thank you, I’m glad you enjoyed it, he had some technical problems, but we made the best of it.
@@WasteSomeTimewithJasonGreen Sound was fine. Small delay but entirely audible....good questions. We (the fans) thank you Jason.🎸🇺🇸
I wish he would have elaborated more on questions like "what was it like recording that first record?" I was hoping for in studio and touring details, stories........ He seems to shoot straight forward with a brief answer, then onto the next question. Oh well, Carlos is awesome regardless. I love battle axe. Thanks for the interview.
I understand, people think I was cutting him off, but it was clear he wasn’t going to give long answers on that stuff.
Thanks for watching!
@@WasteSomeTimewithJasonGreen TBH I was shocked to see this even come through my feed, he so rarely does any kind of media. He's just not a talker.
Always been a fan of Carlos and for Randy to give him the blessings to play in QR! I met Carlos at Jackson guitars and it was such a honor to tell him face to face he inspired my playing in the early days and to finally meet him! He was with Warren when they visited!!!! Awesome human being and guitarist! Great interview!
carlos is a stand up guy for sure!!its not all about money to some people!!!good for him!!!
My favorite Carlos Cavazo guitar moments occur in the re-recording of “Don’t Wanna Let You Go 1999” off of Alive and Well. That acoustic solo is so tasteful & badass.
Carlos is a genuine and focused individual. You can tell he is patient and methodical... what a pleasure and thank you Jason!
Thank you, I’m glad you enjoyed it
AWESOME interview....the funny thing, when Carlos' Rott started barking, my Rott Eddie started barking and searching the house....LOL
Thanks!
That’s funny, I was amazed by how long the dog just sat there
Carlos, I always loved your playing...great stuff
Totally Awesome! Carlos Cavazo Is So Damn Cooool And a Killer Guitarist. This is a fantastic interview. Carlos was the 1st guitarist to get me enthusiastic about learning to play the guitar.
Carlos has a Gazzarries TShirt on my old hangout I use to see Randy Rhoads at the Starwood in Hollywood back when he played with Quiet Riot.
rudy sarzo is so underrated ! he's a beast when it comes to playing bass . but its good to see carlos still kickin
Caught Rudy with BOC...looked like a kid up there playing with the old men...
he underrated guitarist nobody ever mentions him in list of great guitarist ... For sure in Top 20 list of great guitar players for sure his stuff on metal health cant be touched... One my fav albums..
Great interview Jason. You’re right, Carlos does not do many interviews. He’s one of the best to come out of the 80’s for sure. Thanks for doing it, and also thank you for keeping the topic about QR and Ratt
Great interview Jason, carlos is certainly a class act, thanks
He’s the best! I hope you can catch the live interview with Monday and thanks for watching!
I saw him at the Whiskey playing with his band SNOW! I KNEW that he would make it, and right into QR! I still have his SNOW pick he gave me that night.
Met Carlos in 86. Humble..... appreciated that about him. Always a fan
Carlos has always been one of my favorite guitarists, always has been humble and a great player. Hope someday to meet him and shake his hand and thank him in person for years of inspiration.
Love how he says that regardless of the writing, you need the whole band to create a song...so everyone deserves at least some % of the rights!
Very cool interview. Thanks Jason and Carlos for getting together! Great to hear from him! Quiet Riot was my first favorite band and I still love their music!
Thank you, we are going to do another one soon to make up for the internet connection
Love Carlos Cavazo. He was a total Class Act every, single time he was sweet enough to talk to me over here in Southern California in the 80s & 90s. So stoked to see him on your show.
Great interview with Carlos ! yeah it's me singer-songwriter Brian S. Vitullo keep rocking Carlos
we opened for QR once on their "Randy Years" tour in shreveport (1994 or so). Carlos was by far the coolest guy in the band. He spent time with us and asked us to walk him to the hotel a block or two away. By the end of the night all I wanted was to kick dubrows ass. carlos stopped me. He handled it like a pro and I learned a valuable lesson about ego. Wussup and much appreciation to Carlos for that. and kudos on the channel. love it.
What did Dubrow do that you wanted to kick his ass??? Don't leave us hanging.
@@MarceloRomero360 yeah. Why’d you wanna kick D ass? Would love to hear story. Thx
To make a long story short he caught an attitude with me. I wish it hadnt happened. It went on through the day and into the night. Had to do with his wig falling off and how he signed my randy years poster. I called him off the bus and he wouldnt come. Im sure carlos remembers but i hope he dont. Hes the one who came outside and talked to me. It did me alot of good. Always a fan much love to carlos and RIP to kevin. We all grew up and im sorry.
@@shaverback I always knew Kevin had a wig. I seen them 18 years ago March 17, 2003. I was on the rail right infront of Carlos. He threw picks over my head all night.
These interviews are fantastic! Thank You so much!
I appreciate that, really trying to keep it going
Thanks!
Carlos is such a genuine and down to earth guy, one of my all time favorite guitarists ❤
Carlos, THANK YOU FOR NOT ONLY BEING A HELL OF AN ENTERTAINER ( I MISS RATT AND QUIET RIOT INCREDIBLY!!!) BUT YOU HAVE FILLED IN A GREAT DEAL OF VOIDS HERE - PLEASE ALLOW ME TO TAKE YOU BACK TO THE PASSING OF DU BROW - VERY SORRY FOR YOUR FRIENDLY LOSS, ESE! A LONG TIME AGO I WORKED SECURITY FOR A QUIET RIOT CONCERT IN MY HOMETOWN AT TUCSON, AZ. YET I DID NOT CONTINUE IN ENFORCEMENT STUDY IN COLLEGE AT NEW MEXICO SOON AFTER AND DID NOT SEE RATT UNTIL MANY YEARS LATER.
Very Nice interview !!
Thank you
Way cool interview ! Thanks for playing in Ratt Carlos! We miss you buddy! Thanks Jason for all your hard work! God bless you buddy ! Savior JESUS keep all Ratt n rollers safe on flat earth !
One of the most egoless, cool stars I've met. Super nice guy.
Great interview! Love Carlos; he was in a real tough spot dealing with Kevin but always handled it with grace.
I was 7 or 8 yrs old when this record came out. My father bought Metal health for me on vinyl. I was awe struck by the cover alone. Kevin’s voice was spooky to me at that time and so much visceral energy I wore the record out and the releases that followed.
Carlos' guitar work on the monumental album with QR was really important to me. It was truly inspiring.
Hes wearing a Gazzarris Tshirt,,awe memories 🤘😎
I believe his wife has those on her site, I gotta find the link
My buddy and I met Quiet Riot and Night Ranger in Dec '83. Carlos and Jack Blades (Night Ranger) were the 2 coolest guys I'd ever met and we met a lot of bands back then...Kevin was as crazy as he portrays himself to be...literally.
Man, Carlos is one tough nut to crack...I want the other 75% of the story for each question he's asked!
He's never done much media, even back in the day, and he's always been very reserved. I feel the same way.
He's professional. No drama. A guy you'd want in your band for sure.
Thanks to Quiet Riot for some of the best music of my life!
This is cool. Good to hear from Mr. Cavazo. He's always been a favorite of mine.
One of my favorite guitarists. I saw Ratt, original. And felt Carlos was, IS the Perfect compliment to Warren. As well as just a solid Guitar player. I wish him only the best. And I look forward to anything else he wants do. ❤
One the most distinct sounds.Just listening to those old Quiet Riot songs.Carlos is up there with all of them.
You ask the questions i want to hear.
Carlos is a wonderful person and guitar player. His style and guitar techniques are timeless. Hopefully we can finish up with this pandemic and get back to rock n roll. Great interview btw
Excellent interview brother. Great questions jason
Great interview Jason!
Thanks Andy
I love Carlos! Madrid loves Carlos! Thank You very much! Muchas gracias!
Saw them twice around '93 & '94 in a smaller club just outside of Boston. Unreal. They killed it. The second show I was hanging right over the stage in front of Carlos. Unbelievably good.
Love Carlos! He is a great guitarist and an even better guy! God bless him!
I miss Carlos & Warren, i hope they come back to RATT
OR Do something Else together
It was nice to meet Carlos.thanks guys.
