Being a Love/Hate fan from back in the day it was fascinating to hear this in-depth with Jim/Jizzy, who I also saw with Ratt. For me, Jim/Jizzy's definitive creative legacy remains his work with Love/Hate; that's where we hear him being himself, rather than a journeyman stand-in for other vocalists. My takeaways here are several: I'm impressed with Jizzy's overall character; he comes across as a smart and honest guy who has struggled and suffered for his art, yet isn't bitter but the wiser. I recall very well the Hollywood sign crucifixion incident when it happened and watched it on TV. Hearing Jizzy's detailed account here is mindblowing, especially because of the danger involved; he could have been seriously injured or killed and I'm actually surprised that he wasn't. As for his post Love/Hate career, it is apparent that he is reliable and can be counted on to show up ready, willing and able to deliver the goods as a professional. This is obviously why he get the calls and gigs. I have a newfound respect and admiration for Jizzy after seeing this. Thank you Jason and Jizzy.
You're not joking. That first LH record was so underrated. Every song is killer. I have 8 track demos on casette someone gave me of them and they sound great too
I love guys like Jizzy who are talented AND professional. Having been in bands myself, the hardest thing to find is people who are easy to get along with and willing to work hard. I’m glad that he continues to have great success in the music business. Great interview, Jason!
Good interview. Learned some things about the LA scene I didn't know. Also, saw and met Jizzy when he played with Ratt. Nice guy, and a damn good show.
Love Ratt! Thanks Jizzy for taking over for vocals for Ratt for a time! God bless you and all the Ratt n rollers and savior JESUS keep us safe on flat earth always!
Jizzy is an original along with being a great talent. Jason never disappoints with the interesting people he interviews and I hope he can get Jizzy back again in the future.
Funny how the interweb works....4 years later and I'm watching this video in 2024. I've seen a few QR gigs with JP--Creaturesfest 2022 & MORC 2024--I've watched numerous vids on JPearlTV, read a bunch of his stories from his signed books (FB advertising does work on me, Uncle Jizzo). Thanks for sharing , enjoyed that. Great to see a full and detailed interview with king jizzy. Big fan of 'love/hate' , but I do love the fact that he is a journeyman. Jizzy had put out some great albums over the years . He is a survivor and I'm glad he is still out there doing his thing ! Thanks again. Good job

Love/Hate was my favorite band in high school growing up in Orange County, California. I had all their CDs and Tshirts. Was ecstatic when I got to see them perform at Irvine Meadows Amphitheater. In my opinion Love/Hate and Bang Tango are 2 of the most underrated hard rock bands in history rhat should have been HUGE. But in a way I'm glad they are special and not mass pop appeal like GNR. Awesome interview with one of my absolute favorite musicians! I have just about, to the best of my knowledge, everything he’s done. His solo albums are sadly overlooked by most! Thank you so much!
Jason, thank you so much for this! I know it’s a few years late, but I’ve been watching your show now for the last year. I’m really close to the Arcada Theater in St Charles IL. I was at the Pearcy show last fall also. Recently retired cop and our Deputy Chief of the department is a HUGE fan of yours. I didn’t think anyone older than me (51) could get me into anything i wasn’t aware of, but based on his recommendation, I learned of Wednesday 13 from your channel. Thank you for doing what you do. Love/Hate has always been in my top bands since way back in 1990. Awesome stuff!
Loved the whole interview. Saw Jizzy on that first Poison tour he mentioned. Corabi was in the band as well. Would love to see Crabby on here. Anyways keep up the great work Jason.
Love/Hate was one of my favorite bands back in the day...(I got to see them multiple times). This interview was very nostalgic... hearing Jizzy drop names like Faster (Pussycat) and JetBoy (listen to "Feel the Shake").
Both were my favorites back in the day. I was blown away getting to meet Sammy Yaffa at a Jetboy show, where they opened for Kix. He was a personal favorite of mine from back in his Hanoi Rocks days.
I loved that interview. I learned a lot as well. What a career! I still can’t get the Herve Villechaize story out of my mind. Definitely put a smile on my face ! Thanks!
Great interview. JP is one of my favorite singers. JP and Kory Clarke were two singers I tried to let everyone know about. I have 3 of Jizzy's solo records. Each is phenomenal.
Saw them live in Copenhagen 91, supporting Ozzy...........and man...........they kicked fucking ass. Jizzy`s live vocal was absolutely incredible, and they put on one hell of a show. I went straight out, and bought their first album....................30 years on............it`s as fresh, as the first time I heard it.
Loved this one as well. Saw Jizzy open for AC/DC and then Dio. Loved it! Then saw him w LA Guns and RATT...... and this is on me here being a purist, I was not a fan. Fast Forward to Oct 2020 and Quiet Riot are literally playing a pasture 3 miles from my house. Now, while I liked QR, I was never a huge fan. Well let me tell you, Jizzy fuckin nailed it! I hope he stays in QR and they can get back out to play ASAP. It was such a great time.
Great interview. Always liked Jizzy, being one of those in the UK that attended all of the Love/Hate tours in the 90s. I haven't attended all of the later tours (only a couple of shows in the last 20 years), but I won't miss him if and when he comes back.
Thank you JG and JP. *Love* L/H. In fact, I have Blackout in my truck right now. One fantastically produced and mixed album... excellent musicianship to boot!
Why did I not find this earlier? I can tell you why Love/Hate was big in the UK as can many of my friends. (Caution - this post may include reminiscence). Love/Hate rolled off the back of several ‘big’ bands, but with an edge and I truly believe that it hit myself and my friends at that ‘perfect moment’. It captured the branch between a splintering culture. There were some kids going one way and others going another. I’m not sure how Love/Hate popped up on the radar. One of the best gigs ive seen was love/hate at The Forum in Kentish Town, London. I think 91. As the grunge scene emerged in the UK and the glam metal scene became out dated Love/hate in the uk was not seen in the same way. If Lets Rumble had been marketed better that album would have sold better and been as big, at least in England.
Really enjoyed Jizzy’s honesty, especially about the tougher times. Also, when he talked about stepping in only to be ultimately replaced by the original singer, it reminded me about Johnny Edwards who recorded one Foreigner album. Think he’d be a good interview too. Cheers Jason.
Black Out and Why Do You Think were really catchy fun songs. That must have been crazy to put so much energy into the Hollywood container and then watch it all shift up to "Seattle."
Great insight into a true musicians working man. Appreciate that he helped maintain some important bands across his career in addition to his work with love hate, who were so underrated at the time.
My two favorite Jizzy Pearl Albums are of course Blackout L/H... 2nd favorite, which I think goes unknown to some people because it was a different band and had a very good popular singer way before Jizzy. If you haven't listened to L.A. Guns, Shrinking Violet, great vocals. 10/10
I love interviews like this. Everybody thinks that the glam scene was just Brett, Vince, Kevin, Bach.....When it also had Jizzy, Corabi, Finn, Taime, Monroe, and a ton of far more talented singers.
Wow! I was just thinking the other day whatever happened to Jizzy and this popped up - awesome! Yeah I was one of the weirdos who watched Jizzy's live stream on KingJizzo.com, this was like '98 or '99 and chatted with Jizzy a whole bunch, there was like a tight little group of us for a while. Glad to see he's doing ok.
I remember buying tickets to AC/DC with LOVE/HATE at the Tacoma Dome for the January 1991 show but Jizzy's band came off the tour at Long Beach and they were replaced on the bill with KING'S X. Great concert but I was a little disappointed to miss my favorite band. I did make it to the LOVE/HATE DIO show at the Paramount in Seattle and that was f*ckin' cool
I love this series. Just, please, optimize the loudness differences. One is a good level (yours), the other much quiter and I find myself volume riding all the time. Keep 'em coming! :-)
I love the first album of LOVE/HATE!!!! A lots of Energy and Attitude there * It would be great if the band (Jizzy) put all their videos with high quality Anyway, Best wishes in this times of pandémia!!!!
Saw Jizzy Pearl as the lead singer of Ratt in September 2001 the week of 9/11 in Houston. Some rap metal group was the opening band. I remember him saying “we’re gonna get those f*ckers!” John Corabi was the rhythm guitarist. I remember some fans singing “Uncle Jack” during the break.
I saw Jizzy Pearl in Wichita Kansas at a country bar big country bar that held about 3000 people called Incahoots he was singing for RATT and it was fantastic he did a better job than Stephen. He had such an Elvis Presley feel to his stage presence he really did the way he moved and everything he had a real Elvis Presley sort of thing to him anyway this was probably in 1997-98 somewhere in there
I’ll post a bio video soon, I did not play on a band in the 80s, I worked with many of these guys as creator & owner of a Vegas band called sin city sinners, I play bass in a punk band called sin city rejects
I think it was 1998 1999 or something but I saw jizzy sing for ratt at a club called Incahoots in Wichita Kansas he did a great job he kind of had to Elvis sort of thing about him John Corabi was also playing guitar next to warren
I mostly found hair metal abhorrent, yet there were always a few really good diamonds to latch on to and Love/Hate we’re one of them. Their singles were great but the albums are a great listening experience. #jizzypearl #lovehate #columbiarrcords
2 minutes in and I already know his real name is Jim. Cool. I always thought his stage name was goofy but I appreciate him giving the history of how and why. I only ever saw Love/Hate once - club show in 1990 supporting "Blackout..." album. Despite what he said the Dio "Lock Up the Wolves" tour was not "huge" maybe some of the venues he saw were huge to him since it was his 1st tour of the country but really that tour and album was a disappointment from a commercial sales perspective. The AC/DC tour Love/Hate were on was HUGE. They played an 18,000 seat venue in my hometown for that but an AC/DC audience was not going to accept and go out and buy a Love/Hate a.bum. Most AC/DC opening acts in the 80's struggled to have an impact on the sales charts for the most part. Yngwie and Loudness were two other support acts that came through my city on an AC/DC tour.
@@WasteSomeTimewithJasonGreen this is a long interview you did with him, longer than some of the others I watched on your channel (& to be fair I didn't finish it.) Had to walk out mid set at Mohegan Sun Jizzies voice is like nails on a chalkboard.
Man, I would die for some live-music now. Streaming for me was cool for a while, but now I need some real experience, To bad it wont happend tomorrow.
Had black out in the red room when I was ten years old lol
Data Clan? Haha yow
P.s. massive fan!
I caught Love/Hate live at The Limel;ight NYC early 90's. Great show, I thought they were better than Guns N Roses at the time.
The Hollywood sign sits there and watches the dreams nitemares and sacrifices .it lures you and taunts you to no end.
Great singer and entertainer
I seen love hate along with still heart and during the dio lock up the wolves tour
I mostly found hair metal abhorrent, yet there were always a few really good diamonds to latch on to and Love/Hate we’re one of them. Their singles were great but the albums are a great listening experience. #jizzypearl #lovehate #columbiarrcords
You know when people are saying to you "don't be a pussy " its usually not a sign something good is about to happen lol - FRIENDS 😆 Great interview
Thank you, I’m glad you enjoyed the interview and very well said lol
If JiZZY was in LA guns from the start. Cool.
Jizzy is one of the last true rockers from that era
I’m glad you enjoyed the interview and thanks for sharing your memories
@@WasteSomeTimewithJasonGreen this is a long interview you did with him, longer than some of the others I watched on your channel (& to be fair I didn't finish it.)
I imagine you're probably getting requests from people to "waste some time"
One guy I'd love to see, if anybody can get him to talk, is Chris Queensryche DeGarmo.
