    There's something very human about this scene, it sort of steps back from the alien threat and just has a nice moment between The Doctor and Amy where they have to accept that eventually you may have to walk a different path from your best friend, which is incredibly relatable.

    I know that this episode was filmed after Angels and that was probably the reason that Matt had a lot of emotions on his face and it resonates with me but I wonder if, I. his timeline, he saw their end and came back after the Angels Take Manhattan. just to have more time with his family. The Ponds... together or not at all

      Theres a theory out there somewhere that series 7a is actually in reverse from the doctors POV (or at least it doesnt take place entirely in the order we see it in)

    • @Bellend50000
      @Bellend50000 Год назад

      I would love this theory, but I'm fairly sure that it would have interfered with the timelines in some way, and given how fractured they already were after Manhattan, I'm not so sure it would have been at all safe. Again I may be wrong, but I also think that in Amy creating fixed time with her death, I wonder if it may have fixed the rest of her timeline too, same as when she said in the angels take Manhattan to go and see little Amelia and tell her everything they're going to do together, I questioned that for the same reason. It's a lovely theory though, and I believe that if that were the case, it would explain a lot of the doctor's emotion from the shows point of view, because as it stands, although in power of three, Matt knows, obviously the doctor himself doesn't. I would love if in some way shape and form, 11, Amy and Rory were somehow able to come back, but I imagine they all would probably want to leave their characters the way they were as some reunions don't age well lol.

      Marcus Hicks recently rewatched it and I agree. They rush the Chakri - who are implied to be this legendary huge world ending threat - when they could have revealed who they were at the end of the episode and have the cubes release some toxic gas instead of an electric pulse as the stinger at the end of the episode. Then have the resolution at the end of it all as the doctor sending the antidotal gas to earth in more cubes or something. If they'd done this, then the Chakri could have ended up being a returning villain with serious threat.

    "There were times, there were years when I couldn't live without you..." Aww, Amy, why do you hit me right in the feels ?? This is why Amy and Rory are my favorite companions after Rose Tyler. I love these two ... They have such good chemistry and their trust and understanding of each other is complete. You can just see it, the way he looks at her at the end, and the way they just sit there, his head against hers, just enjoying each other ... This is my favorite scene hands down in this episode .. Doctor Who has taught me that everyone, whether they are "good" or "evil" can always find some way to let love into their heart if they allow it ... That's what I take away from this anyway ...

    Probably my favourite scene ever between the 11th Doctor and Amy, It gives me goosebumps every time I watch it. It’s simply beautiful and powerful at the same time not to mention the music in the background just caps it off perfectly.
    He really does feel a close different connection to both Amy and Rory that he never had with his previous companions and also as he said she was the 1st this version saw, They’re both happily married and they both love the doctor too but in a special friendship bond this his way of trying to let go of them gently without hurting them physically or emotionally he’s learnt from his past mistakes and knows now when to let go of his companions as he’s previously said “You can spend the rest of your life with me, but I can’t with you I have to live on” unfortunately couldn’t change what fate comes to them in the next episode probably due to a fixed point in time that’s the burden of the Time Lords I guess.
    The only let down for me was the ending it was way too short and over in a flash and such a shame as the episode was a nice unexpected build up with the mysterious black cubes it should’ve been a 2 parter rather than cram it all into one episode.

    Upon reflecting on all of New Who, I still think 11-Amy-Rory were the best Doctor/Companion team. True friends. 11 & Amy's chemistry is unmatched without making it a romance (10/Rose, 12/Clara, 13/Yaz). Instead of someone who argues with the Doctor all the time or blindly follows them, 11/Amy struck the perfect balance. It helps that whenever Amy wasn't able to stand up to the Doctor, Rory and River were there to do so. The dynamics were so on-point. No matter which writer took over the show, it'd be difficult to capture the perfect balance this Tardis team struck.

    Chibnall is good at doing the human bits, but the actors in series 11 and 12 are bad at delivering the lines. Moffat couldn’t do the human bits but he could do the plot most of the time and the actors were good at delivering the lines. Chibnall can do the human bits but not the plot. Moffat could do the monsters, chibnall can’t, RTD could do all three
    I hate how nobody’s been able to balance the three elements since RTD left
    Take Chibnalls dialogue, Moffat and RTD era acting and Moffat monsters. Put them together you’ve got a great show again.
