    I use Rogue Echo bumpers and rarely drop them, if at all. It's what I bought at the time and I would consider Titan's and they're one of the few companies to have bumpers in stock. There are a lot of home gym eliteists out there that only buy certain brands, but a the end of the day, it's a home gym. Who's going to see it? Buy what you want and what you can afford.

    Currently I have the “Standard Olympic Iron Plates” purchased from Rogue. For me they were the cheapest with shipping from anything else I could even find in stock. Took me a while to get my collection filled up with the plates I needed, but it was worth it. Especially since my lifting style is primarily a bodybuilding style and average strength training. I may have to pick up a pair of the bumpers and a bar that I can drop eventually. For now, I’m content.

    I grew up in a trailer house. I totally get not having any money at all, and for half my life, I couldn’t have afforded even Titan equipment.
    That said....
    Titan is not a name anyone is proud of. You buy Titan because you find other things too expensive, not because you think it’s the best.
    Therefore, I’d choose the “budget” over the “elite” because I don’t want the name brand Titan in my face.
    Titan either needs to begin making ALL their products comparable to Sorinex or Rogue or becoming a “no-name” generic. Right now they are like Walmart’s “ozark trail” outdoor gear. It’s junk, and the pieces that arent junk, you don’t want anyone to know its Ozark Trail. You’d just rather it was brandless.

      @@NoFate247 Well now I'm in a totally different position in life. My gym is probably 800 square feet. Rogue monster rack, Rogue Rhino Belt squat, Rogue Echo Bike, Rogue GHD, Rogue Reverse hyper, Old Commercial Smith Machine (Magnum?), Hoist V6 cable machine, Body Solid Leg press, 120 pound powerblocks, four barbells, Ivanko Revolver plates, and "X-Fitness" bumper plates from Amazon. The bumpers are clearly cheap, but at least had the dignity to not YELL it in my face with bright branding. HAHA Keep "checking in," I love your content.

    • @jamestonbellajo
      @jamestonbellajo 3 года назад +2

      While I agree plates are where you can “cheap out” on since all you need is weight that’s decently accurate, I don’t agree with you on your stance on Titan. I think they operate in a niche that works for them (being in between the higher quality brands and the no-name brands from Amazon and Walmart).
      If Titan ups their quality to Sorinex’s or Rogue’s level, nobody would buy from them them because they are already deep in that market. The Blues City barbells they released provides a great case study for this. They released a made in USA barbell that’s much better in quality than what they normally put out and the general consensus was to still buy an Ohio Power Bar instead. If Titan is the same price as Rogue, people are just going to buy Rogue. But for items that aren’t mission critical like plates, landmines, axle bars, gymnastic rings and what have you, it makes sense to go with Titan if you’ve already blown your budget on Rogue and Sorinex and/or don’t want to deal with additive shipping charges.
      Pivoting down to being no-name generic doesn’t make sense either because there are hundreds of nameless brands that fight with each other for sales. A lot of these brands can’t offer the specificity that Rogue can offer. Titan can because they essentially copy Rogue and purposely make an inferior quality product to sell for cheaper to undercut Rogue. So business ethics is more of a valid reason to not be “proud” of owning Titan versus quality like you said.
      Titan’s positioning in the fitness gear industry is the same as Thursday’s positioning in the boots industry. Some people don’t want to pay for luxury but they don’t want generic department store stuff either. There are brands for that in every industry. It makes sense for Titan to be that brand for fitness. Daniel Wellington for watches, Huawei for smartphones, RC Cola for soda, Columbia for outdoor apparel, Dunkin’ Donuts for coffee, IKEA for furniture, H&M for fast fashion. It’s Business & Marketing 101. Not everyone can afford Rogue and Sorinex but some people don’t want to buy nameless crap either. Titan understands this. You’re not who they’re marketing to and speaking of which...
      I don’t think @nofate247 should feel bad about his purchase and how he spends his hard earned money (or hustle in this case). He doesn’t strike me as someone who cares about how a brand is displayed on his requirement. He’s pretty practical and if something is usable, he’s good with it. Brand shaming him doesn’t feel right at all. He fits Titan’s target market compared to your average fitness brand “Rogue, Sorinex, Eleiko everything” snob on Reddit.
      A lot of bumper plates from the mid-tier brands like Titan and those a step above like REP, Bells of Steel, Griffin and Fringe get their bumper plates from the same manufacturer in China, so Titan’s offering isn’t intrinsically worse in this very scenario. Your comment would make more sense on a review for a Titan squat rack, but it’s misplaced in a review for Titan bumper plates.
