I build cabinets, what's popular now is oversized drawers. It's easier to just open a drawer, the sliding shelves you have to open the doors first and the pullout damages the door. Looks great with the drawers as well.
My grandmother lives with me and has been developing mobility issues this year. I will definitely be installing these for her and the rest of us to enjoy. Thank you!
Definitely do it! I did this for my mums kitchen. She’s in her 70s now and has bad knees and can’t get into the back of the cabinets anymore. After it was like I’d given her the moon ❤️ she was so so happy!! Xx
Please also consider switching the towel bars in the bathroom with safety towel bars. You can still hang towels on them so she doesn't feel embarrassed or like she stands out, but the safety bars should be extra wide so there's a lot of area left without towel coverage she can grab onto in the bathroom. (A lot of people feel embarrassed when they lose some mobility)
@BankruptMonkey If you live that long, more than likely, you'll slow down in one way or another. Nothing to be prideful about; we just have to learn to adapt, adjust, and accommodate. That's all! The bars in the bathroom and these sliding shelves are examples of how to do that. Saves on falls, broken bones, and back conditions. Seems like a great trade off to me at 74yoa. Lol Learned not to take myself seriously; life is too short.🎉
Yes! Will our Project Master please bless us with the fabri-frustrations video to detail its assembly? We wishith to have such witchcraft in our hovels. Honestly all kidding aside, drawer slides piss me off to no end. I need your tutoring.
My 60 yo mother just had her kitchen completely remodeled and her new lower cabinets have these pull out shelves. 100% should be standard in all new and remodeled cabinets.
Holy cow! that is amazing!I've been wanting to try doing pull out shelves for awhile! I love the framework idea instead of trying to do 1 shelf at a time! It looks wonderful!
Love seeing and hearing about these projects. Awesome solution to deep cabinets. But what I enjoy the most, is the hilarious way you narrate your videos. Keep renovating and inspiring others like me. Amazing job!🎉
Would love to have those! Maybe I need to watch a more detailed tutorial or buy at least the supplies. And maybe then a better skilled person in my household (husband) could start the installation. 😋
Hello Good Sir! After watching your dollar tree pumpkin short and now this one……I can truly say I’m touched with happiness and awe, along side of a belly full of laughter of course! 😂 Subscribed and locked in🙌🏽 Blessings to you, your wife and family🙏🏽
I LOVE these!!! I worked for Builder Developers for over 30 years. Someone said they should make this an item in every home. I agree but then homes would be even MORE expensive. Builders could at least make them an option available to anyone buying a new home. Great ideas when we come together in kindness. 😊❤
Excellent work. 👏 My uncle was a master carpenter and used to make them just like this for quick solutions. He added a few inches higher in the front and back to avoid* items sliding out and on some units removed the doors and attached a nice front face for an open concept. Still have them in my kitchen. Super functional decades later, highly suggest! *Autocorrect 😑
35 years ago I designed my entire kitchen with slide out shelves. From woodmode...I loved them.....moved abd didn't realize how much I would miss them.
@@bootslawless Pullout drawers. Not cabinet. You'll find a lot more items than what you are originally looking for when searching for a pullout cabinet.
We did this. It is really easy. We used 2 sliding shelves to hold our canned food. It saved so much space. I didnt want a pantry but wanted lots of food storage. These work perfectly. The key is heavy duty drawer slides. I bought a construction pack to save even more cuz they arent cheap. Each holds over 150lbs
I thank you! I thought I had to do standard drawers! I see now that I just need these shelves, drawer slides, 2" strips, Dap wood glue, Dap instant glue adhesive, (I have the 3/4" plywood)and brad nails.
I know these comments are from a month ago, so I'm probably necroing the thread, but ... My only thought to add to these slide out shelves is to make a high back piece rather than the 2-in you have shown. This would prevent items from falling off the back of the shelf if you pull it out too fast which would then prevent you from pushing the shelf back in without digging all those products out of the cabinet in order to retrieve the one that had fallen.
I also have about $2500 worth of cleaning supplies. (Collection of about 20 years). I have a project Or problem to fix, buy “the right stuff “ use 25% of it and put the rest on the shelf, I sometimes end up with 2-3 bottles of the same stuff. I know of some people who use Simple Green for everything. But I never thought 1 cleaner mixed to different concentrations would do all jobs. I was glad I had a bunch of bottles of Westley’s Bleach White. The old formula is much better than the new.
So the second version you put the cabinet slider section onto a frame rather than get inside cabinet to mount that piece? Is that correct? Ive watched a lot of cabinet sliding drawer installs and I dont really understand lining it all up. Some from scratch but also prebought wire types. Many bad reviews. Our house came with sliding drawers which I love. Especially since no upper cabinets in kitchen. Lodge type house. But I also have a separate sewing workshop. Id love to have sliders in those cabinets. I'll see if you have a full video. And yep, Im the cleaner queen! I just keep the back up in a storage cabinet on garage stopp. But one of each lined up under the sink! Id also like some with higher sides. I ended up putting one 4 pc set of our dishes in a large drawer. The rest of our dishes is in a large bank of hallway cabinets. Thank goodness the builder, first owner did put many drawers. One on bottom large enough for my crock pot and odd applances. Otherwise it was too deep to be usefull.
😊You sound like a woman after my own heart❤. Packing in max storage in your home🏡 😉 Smart idea to turn the interior trim pieces into a framework 🔳 for attaching both lower & upper fixed hardware against the cabinet box all @ once. Greater chance of uniformity too, esp. if you're measuring challenged like myself. 🔨Simply build one frame & test it out in all your base cabinets BEFORE securing &/or building more. 🥣Since I am a pack rat🐁 & dish hoarder, I would dbl ⬆️ the height of the drawer to more safely stow stacked items & maximize vertical ↕️ space on each level. Maybe even add a pegboard on bottom to keep things from sliding around in the interior of drawer too. 🧐At a minimum, I would keep the longer sides low & beef up height of the short sides (i.e., higher in front + back of drawer). That way more unstable things won't flop out when pulling/pushing drawer. [EDIT] It all depends on what you need to store in your cabinets. Good to do an assessment before assembly. 🤔My friend inherited Wire Drawer Baskets in several original 1970s base cabinets at time of condo purchase. Good in theory, but we found the units to be bulky & clunky. More limited to what stuff you can actually stow in them too. 🪛3 were removed. 😘 The previous owner installed a beautiful beast of an industrial style stainless steel pot rack🍳 on the longer side of upside down "L" wall configuration. (This portion backs the fireplace🔥 on the other side on main living area, while the shorter wall section is at the top.) That's where they created a high breakfast bar peninsula on the 🍽D/R side. On the kitchen side, there's a counter height shallow (upside down "L") ledge that spans the full side of the short wall & extends about that same length on the long wall. ⬇️ Underneath it on the bar side is one of the original tall, shallow upper 70s cabinets that's now serving as the base. This narrow ledge matches the other stone counters & bar top. 🔪It provides adequate prep space & will fit a crock pot or other small appliance when in use. To this day, we're both still deeply in love❤ w/that pot rack. 👨🍳As an avid home cook, he has a huge collection of pots, pans, collanders, sieves, tools, etc. that would NEVER squeeze in his other 3 base cabinets (1 narrow cabinet, 1 sink cabinet, & 1 blind corner cabinet). As it stands, the larger of his double oven (that we've never used) stores all his heavy cast iron pots & pans. I slipped in a 2×4 IKEA Kallax under the ledge on the longer side. The 8 cubby unit is on it's side, raised on 5 bun feet, & centered below the longer pot rack wall. The 4 center cubbies were modified to fit an XL electric smoker, 2 instant pots, & air fryer. The 2 cubbies on each side hold a bulk buy size glass apothecary of pantry dry goods (flour/sugars on top + dry beans on bottom). Added 4 small stainless steel rails to keep those oversized glass canisters more secure, you can scoop contents w/o removing, but need to take 'em out to refill. His standing mixer sits on top of this unit (on the far left end where the ledge stops). We also mounted a couple of shallow SS rails on that wall above to hold glass lids. The pots may clang in an earthquake, but everything is fairly stable. 💚Bridget from Cali☘️ (using my pal's YT acct)

I agree with you 1000%.
My late handy husband did this to all my kitchen and bathroom cabinets, it is the best home improvement ever.
Need mine to do this for my pregnant self
I dont need it because all I have is a few essential cleaning products 😂

I have drawers instead of lower cabinets. Best thing I ever fid.
Builders use door cabinets because they are easier and cheaper than drawers in bathrooms and kitchens.
Thank you, have been looking for a simple solution to useless cupboard space. Brilliant...💗💗💗
Finally! A video that showed me how its done in detail. Thank you🙏

I made sliding drawers from plastic totes the size of the bottom shelves.

Thank you so much!
They make full extension drawers glides so nothing is hiding back there. That's what we use for our residential pullouts.
Thank you! I really hope this will convince my fiance that we CAN indeed have drawers rather than cabinets hahaha thaaaaanks from south africa
Great idea. You have done a great job. Thanks for sharing.
