Professional tool usage, accurate 'transfer' measurements eliminating numerical transposition errors, very safety conscious, foam & bristle brush usage from an expert craftsman. What a wealth of knowledge in one sitting.

The existing cabinet does not have a center support. If I add one, then I have something to fasten to on that side for the new drawers to fit into. I really appreciate no background soundtrack. I've thought the same thing. I was wondering if I would want to reinforce with a board on the inside just above the opening, but I think that center piece doesn't really add to much in terms of structural support to begin with and the counter top above probably disperses the weight anyways.

This is genius for smaller/older homes. It's my dream to do this to my cabinets because they're so narrow when separate, would be so much more useful to open together. The other videos of customizing and expensive bulky cabinetry doesn't work for everyone. Just wish I had the talent and tools to do this 🥺

Rather than rabbeting the bottom in, consider putting in a dado and then under the bottom shelf run a piece of perforated steel, from side to side. Having had 1/2" shelves with pots on them for 20 years, the 1/2" shelf in a rabbet will bow eventually. Using the dado gives you 1/2" to slide in a piece of steel to support the shelf. pots and pans are heavy

Do you do cabinet rehab consulting? Charges? I have a 1910 that have cabinets that are probably original to the house. Would love to do basically what you did but also change out all cabinet doors to make them look nice but yet not new or prefab. Every cabinet man I've talked to says just tear it all out and order new cabinet boxes. I'll keep what I've got before I do that I think. Thanks for the video.

I'm fixing them in such a way they'll look beautiful after I'm done with them and will hold up for decades after decades of more usage before anyone even thinks of swapping them out for new!
