  • I show how I grow seeds fast indoors using a paper towel germination technique to start my seeds and show you the progress at 10 days after placing the dried seeds into the paper towel. It's a super effective method and you know exactly which seeds were successful. No thinning required. I've also tried adding a dash of hydrogen peroxide to the water to encourage germination but it doesn't make a difference. Regular tap water works just fine.

    I had my cucumbers germinated just fine, but when I transplant them into the soil, they just died and only few survived! Hopefully this time they'll all survive and start shooting real leafs soon !

    Can you put the tissue on a heating matt?

    • @Mooreapproved
      @Mooreapproved  4 года назад

      Indeed. You'll get faster germination with consistent heat. You really don't need any light until after the sprout is put into it's chosen substrate. If you're growing directly from soil a heat lamp is a good idea over just a mat as the sprout will make it's way towards the heat. As it thinks that is the direction to where the sun is located.

    Can beans be moved into dirt the same way??

    • @Badbeau
      @Badbeau 5 лет назад +1

      Yes, I pre-sprouted 3 types of beans, (Black, Red kidney, and pinto) last year and dropped them into holes in the garden. All but one plant came up just fine, (out of about 23 planted) and I'm sure would have grown up just fine except for the deer attack, and then the frost. They were pretty much just an experiment as I planted them late in the season and just wanted to see if store bought dried beans could be sustainable as a food source. I'll be planting them earlier this year so as to get a good harvest.

    Is it possible to germinate cilantro seeds like this

    • @Mooreapproved
      @Mooreapproved  6 лет назад +4

      Yes indeed! Roughly 75% of the seeds started sprouting within 8-12 days, I planted them in a small pot and they took off and grew nicely. I got quite a bit of cilantro from those seeds.
