- We’re in Melbourne eating up a storm over a number of weeks. Today we’re at Footscray Market sharing with you where to eat! Melbourne is a food lover’s dream- from cheap and cheerful eats to fine dining- this city has it all. The diverse population of its people means its food culture is rich and multi-cultural. We used to call this city home so we know it pretty well. We can’t wait to share some of our favourite spots with you plus experience new eats with you along for the ride.

We’re Thomas and Sheena, food and travel fiends. We travel full time, hunting for the BEST local food in the world to showcase via our RUclips videos. Food is a window into a country's culture and one of the most exciting ways to get to know a place.
We're all about eating what and where the locals eat. You won't find food that's been created merely to be social media worthy on here- no rainbow bagels, gold leaf soft serves- just honest food that tastes incredible.
From street food to mom and pop restaurants, we want to show you the best food we find on our travels.

Delicious looking and suitably warming options for a cold winters day in Melbourne.
Being Scottish I'm used to porridge, but I've never had congee 🥣 Another thing to add to my list!
I think you would love it Rob! It’s a really comforting dish 💜 Thanks for watching! Cheers, Sheena
Wow, Vietnamese food is amazing. Thank you for trying and give a good tip all the fantastic foods. Good work.😊
So happy you enjoyed this one mate! Thanks for watching. Cheers, Sheena
Thank you so much for showing of our great suburb!!
We also went to Pie Thief the other day for a Thai Red Curry pie- awesome. Thanks again
Thanks so much for watching mate! That red curry pie is SO good- stoked you enjoyed it too. We loved filming in Footscray- we barely scratched the surface 😝 Hope we can get back soon! Cheers, Sheena

Yum the Banh mi sandwich looked so good guys, I love Vietnamese food it’s one of my favourites. Never tried the rice roll meal you guys had, I have to try that out.
It’s so good! Give it a go if you get a chance. Definitely have the rice roll while there also. Thanks for watching. Thomas.
Seriously impressive food vlog. I was going to watch it as soon as it came, but I didn't want to be really hungry.
😆😆😆 thanks for watching mate! It was an awesome market to explore. Cheers, Sheena
Another great foodie visit..
It was an awesome market to explore! Thanks for watching Ricky. Cheers, Sheena
Another yum day at the market! I've never tried Viet food of any sort, but you make it sound amazing. It's also fun to see you all wrapped up for the cold. This is usually our hottest month, but we're having an unusual cool spell. Normal is around 36 for a daytime high, but today only made it to 25.
Much cooler than usual then! We’re in San Diego at the moment and it was about 32 today- hot as 😆 Hope you get to try Vietnamese food one day MsKestrela. It’s so fresh and vibrant- love all the herbs. Thanks for watching! Cheers, Sheena
Nice one guys, that's my local large market yet to try that Congee, wife if Thai so quite often have home made Thai Congee for breakfast which is SOOOOOO delicious, not sure how long ago you filmed this one, back at the food court there is a new Thai place opened up next to the ramp up to carpark, is not too shabby!
I LOVE Thai congee 🤤🤤🤤 thanks for the tip re the new opening! Will have to try it the next time we’re in town. What a great market to have as your local! Thanks for watching 😍 Cheers, Sheena
Looks yum!
Such an awesome day of eating! Thanks for watching! Cheers, Sheena
You should visit Katik Turkish Takeaway in Campbellfield. The best kebabs in Melbourne. Try the Adana!
Love Adana kebab! Thanks so much for the recommendation 😍 hope you enjoyed this video! Cheers, Sheena
Another great video guys! I practically grew up in footscray market and had no idea about the congee place, thanks so much for sharing ❤
Thanks so much for watching. The congee was so good. Give it a go if you get a chance. Thanks heaps. Thomas
Nhu Ngoc is definitely the best banh mi in Footscray :) next time you should order the congee with chicken coleslaw. Love your videos
So good right! That chicken coleslaw sounds like a good time 🙌 thanks for watching. Thomas
My childhood was spent waiting around for my parents in Footscray Market while they shopped. I know that food court well😅
Same! Nostalgia 😂
Same here - I remember my dad getting us slices of capricciosa pizza while waiting for mum to get her groceries!
Awesome. Hope the video brought back some memories. Do you still make it there sometimes? Thanks for watching. Thomas
@@ChasingaPlate oh no, they closed down years ago. The pizza place was on the opposite side of the banh mi shop.
Omg the crystal like rice roll caught me.....
YES! It was so silky and smooth- we demolished it. Hope you’re well mate 💜 Cheers, Sheena
You eat a lot of those Banh ni sandwiches. Must be good. Ive never had one . Im not sure about the carrots but I would try it if I can find one.
Hahaha we do! We love them! The carrots add a special something- it’s honestly such a great sandwich. Hope you get to try one, one day soon Vicky! Thanks for watching 💜 Cheers, Sheena
@@ChasingaPlate I got a chicken Banh ni today. The carrots were good. But sandwich was a bit dry. Maybe I should ask for extra sauce next time? Thanks .
thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching Phyllis! Cheers, Sheena
Did you know that Footscray used to be Italian, the new European migrant population in the 60's. It was the first my parents bought after arriving into the maribynong refugee hostel.
Has a neat history doesn’t it. Thanks so much for watching this one and we hope you enjoyed it. Cheers, Thomas
Good video mate
Thanks for watching Joseph! Cheers, Sheena
Very interesting as always but why not inform what the individual meals cost?
Thanks for watching. We always give all that information and more. It’s all listed in the description. Cheers, Thomas
👍
Thanks for watching Michael! Cheers, Sheena
Grouse looking Tucker folks, I suppose you would need to know a little bit about what to order & thankfully you help us mere mortals out 🙏👍
Sure was mate! Great day of eating. Hopefully we’ve give people some ideas. Cheers, Thomas
I travelled the Northern Vietnam lately. I missed Vietnamese food in Australia. It tastes better. I don't like Banh Mie when the baguette bread is not crispy and slightly sweet.
That’s so interesting that you found that! We love travelling in the south and have had some epic memorable meals in that part of the country. Thanks for watching! Cheers, Sheena
Nhu Ngoc is the best. Why wait in line for pork rolls?
Next time Nhu Lan is lined out the door (which is always) I’m going to visit this place!
So good right! They do such a good one. Thanks heaps for watching. Thomas
We had Nhu Lan a few days before filming during a research trip (we’ve also been having it since 2012 when we moved to Melbourne) and can confirm Nhu Ngoc is, in our mind, absolutely the place to get a roll nowadays. Thanks for watching. Thomas
@@ChasingaPlate thanks for your honest review! I can’t wait to try now :)
Once you have asian you dont want to go back to Caucasians 😂😂😂❤❤❤😂❤😂😂❤😂😂❤❤❤❤❤❤
Nice one guys! Yeah, it was amazingly cold for a while there. I came back to Oz for 2 weeks for work in August and I had to wear thermal underwear even thought I stayed in Brisbane and Cairns (I've lived in the tropics for 20+years now). Now I heard it was the hottest August in Oz ever!! The food looked amazing na!
Sure was! We were there filming this during that August cold snap. The warming congee really hit the spot! Thanks so much for watching. Thomas
If you got time I would recommend Bun Bo Hue (Spicy beef noodle soup) or Pho at Pho Hung Vuong Saigon the best in town and its really affordable 🥣
Yum! Sounds great. Thanks very much for watching this one. Thomas
