As a 70s n 80s kid, this flick, as well as all of the eras horror movies of epic status (Halloween, Dawn of the Dead, I Spit on your Grave, Children Shouldn’t Play with Dead Things, Don’t Go In the Basement) the varied list goes on n’ on folks but PHANTASM always stays close as unique. Great post w album pon a turntable! Those were the days which is why I still spin lp’s at home. Peace and I feel so sorry for tdays youth deprived of classics that so seldom exist at present. Enjoy our past!
I bought this album back in 1979 when the film came out. Glad to see it’s still out there. Mine got destroyed in a flood, along with about 50 other albums😢
I found the CD version on Ebay and it's selling for a few hundred dollars. I'm going to try to get one. One of the best motion picture soundtracks of all time!
I don't have 5, but I have 1-4 on BD, a Steelbook of 1 on BD, and the Wide-screen Collector's Laserdisc which I got for next to nothing over a decade ago and now it's over $100
Great ST, though a bit limited mellotron-wise. Only choirs. Zoltan did in 2016 a cover of the main title using mellotron-strings. Though I prefer the original, the strings are stunning.
Very lucky. Like Halloween, if Phantasm didn't have this soundtrack it just wouldn't do as well. These soundtracks are perfect for setting the mood and time. This soundtrack is dated to 1979 and good.
Same. I too was born in 87. I saw it in Christmas 1995, hadn't seen my Mom in 2 years, she picked me and my older sister up from outside Louisville KY taken down to Jackson MS. We watched this that night and it blew my 7½ year old mind. Mike was super cool, when he blows the door with the 12 gauge buckshot hammer, I was hooked.
I seen it in the movies opening weekend with friends at a local theater in 1979, bought the album from mail order in Fangoria magazine. It’s still at my parents house in a record cabinet down the basement.
One of the best horror soundtracks to this day. Crisp, chilling, stunning and fantastic.Still sounds current the audio is amazing. It's up there with soundtracks: Suspiria the original, Hellraiser, Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Rosemary's Baby. Partial to the Sinister and Lords of Salem soundtracks too.Your intro is great.
i used to have the vynil. i'm mad at myself for not transfering it to CD when i had the chance😐 but my nostalgia for listening to my old music collection is few and far. TY for posting this!
Ohh I think it’s one of these headers….. 🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️ 😂🤣 It’s so crazy I can hear the music and immediately recognize the scenes. My dad showed me this as a kid and it’s my favorite movie ever. Absolute favorite. So effin cool. They played a good game boys…
Man you are right on brother, 79 was a great year! Awesome soundtrack! I especially love this album for the Halloween season! So beautiful and classic! was
This is by far one of my greatest horrors of all time, seen it when I was about 10yrs old, I loved it then, and love it more, and more with each passing year, this soundtrack is awesome!

Does anyone know what the name of the song that plays when Jody leaves Mike at the house and the tall man chases Mike through the woods ? It seems to have disappeared off the face of the earth.
It really brings you to that very point in the movie, where it seems Mike is finally cornered and in the hands of the sinister Tall Man, definitely an incredible momen
Hello, I loved the Phantasm Series and this soundtrack is amazing. Looking at the list of your gear. I wanted to ask here for some advice. I want to buy a good turntable and I need to understand what is better: - Fully Automatic Belt-Drive Stereo Turntable vs Fully Manual Belt - Bluetooh vs Wired (can you get both?) I appreciate the help here.
You spin a good disc, boy!
But now the records over.
You spin a good disc, boy but the disc is finished now you play it again
B,….O!….Y!! Creeps me out every single time!! RIP tall man!
RIP.He is probably in your town right now.BOY.

If I ever open a funeral home, I'm going to just play this soundtrack over and over.
And walk about with a silver ball :D
And yell at children "BOY" every time i see them
😂
I can not argue against.
don’t you think that’s kind of disrespectful to the deceased’s survivors 🤔
I bought this album back in 1979 when the film came out. Glad to see it’s still out there. Mine got destroyed in a flood, along with about 50 other albums😢
Does anyone else listen to these horror vinyl records when writing?
Why yes I do!
I do!
yep
Even when I'm trying to sleep
I listen to them every day while I am working, and I have many of them on vinyl myself that I play on the weekends while working around the house.
I was 13 when I saw that movie. Creepy AF and one of the greatest original soundtrack. Greetings from south of France BOY !
RIP Fred Myrow and Malcolm Seagrave. this is a masterpiece
A movie filled with so much imagination and energy! The score is also great! RIP Fred Myrow and Malcolm Seagrave,
I think of this song when I have to go to a funeral
I was ten years old when this movie came out in 1979 it scared me to death lol watched it on betamax video
I saw it in a drive in theater, the sound echoed everywhere, most excellent!
I was about the same age when I saw it when it came out. Decades later, and I really need to see this movie again.
I found the CD version on Ebay and it's selling for a few hundred dollars. I'm going to try to get one. One of the best motion picture soundtracks of all time!
For that price, get the vinyl. OG 1979 print is about the same price, the Mondo Remastered re-release is about $150, Japanese 79 vinyl is about $70
I have all 5 films on disc but the original is the best and the soundtrack both sinister and sublime. The funeral is about to begin........sir!
I don't have 5, but I have 1-4 on BD, a Steelbook of 1 on BD, and the Wide-screen Collector's Laserdisc which I got for next to nothing over a decade ago and now it's over $100
Il film l'ho ancora in VHS. La colonna sonora non l'avevo mai ascoltata. Grazie per averla pubblicata. É inquietante come il film.
This soundtrack should be required listening for all Mellotron enthusiasts! Absolutely stunning music
Great ST, though a bit limited mellotron-wise. Only choirs. Zoltan did in 2016 a cover of the main title using mellotron-strings. Though I prefer the original, the strings are stunning.
At 11:44, lets get down and boogie with some Phantasm disco....I wish they play this song at my local bar =)
Idk why but this reminds me of the song in star wars when Han is in the Salloon
@@NoFishTacos4You Yeah, It has that Cantina vibe come to think of it.
No sitting til midnight on this joint....and ive been sitting here till noon!!
My favorite soundtrack ever! Fred Myrow was a genius. I think Don was lucky to get him.
Very lucky. Like Halloween, if Phantasm didn't have this soundtrack it just wouldn't do as well. These soundtracks are perfect for setting the mood and time. This soundtrack is dated to 1979 and good.
beautiful soundtrack to one of my favourite movies ever
The music is about to begin, Sir!
Not only is this a great soundtrack, but the presentation gets 5/5 stars!
19:13 Such a sad version. My favorite on the soundtrack.
This sounds like the version that plays at the end of the movie, BOOOOOOYYYYYY!
ransax I agree...there’s a lot of emotion to that one. My favorite part is 14:45 😊
@@dethaddrit is, after learning it was a dream and its Jody who's dead.
When I have first seen the movie 'Phantasm', I thought the dwarfs were inspired by the Jawas from the movie 'Star Wars - A New Hope' ;-)!
Best Horror Theme Ever!! Chills up spine, Phantasm and Phantasm Oblivion are masterpiece's!!
I too appreciate Phantasm OblIVion
I have not seen any of the other Phantasm movies. Gonna have to see em before I meet the Tall Man ☠️
This brings back memories I was born in 1987 but I'll tell you I seen this movie at least 10 or more times when I was growing up love it !!
Agreed. Born in 69’ memories of not sleeping for a week.

I applaud your opening giallo scheme. It was very eerie to watch, well done and thanks for sharing good music!
Bought a copy off eBay after hearing this. Sounds way better than all the compressed copies I've heard

Such a master theme.

Daaaaaaaayyyyymn! Gratz on just having the vinyl of that. That's AWESOME in its own right.
Thank You!
13:43 is my all time favorite. The intensity is so fitting!
Pretty freakin' disturbing movie. Held up great...even with the cheeseball sfx and acting. Incredible soundtrack.
great score, i like all this darkness
Vinyl is final.
Love this soundtrack & movie! The main theme reminds me of the Exorcist's piano, I'm guessing they were heavily inspired 😀
Nah, look into Fred Myrow. Might be surprised what you find.
@danny I see it also
Yesssssssssss
Awesome. Thanks for posting.

Ok…..sir…
like the tracks, LOVE the decks!
Thank you
Very awesome movie 💜
Does anyone else hear a resemblance to the soundtrack of Carpenter's The Fog (made one year later)?
@buzzcrushtrendkill Spot on..
I would have said it WAS a carpenter piece if I'd heard it with no artist credits shown. The styling is very similar.
There is only one year between the two films.
@@paulatreides4274 Good catch.
Actually both soundtracks owe a bit a gratitude to Tubular Bells (The Exorcist)
BEST EVER THANK YOU
“BOYYYYYY!”
Good Job!
The lead on the disco version is going ham at the end of that particular end
BOY!
14:45 is my absolute favorite part!
Chic 'N' Stu Yeah! When he throws Mike into the hearse. The drumming is great! Very epic part of the score
