I shattered my leg in 12 places. 6 surgeries. A year in a wheelchair. I met Wayman Tisdale in the hospital. I learned how to use my leg again while he learned how to use his prosthetic leg. It had the OU school logo painted on it. I cried when I walked. He smiled. He had the biggest smile ever. He died a few months later. I love you Wayman. I love you Toby. Billy, I hope you play this often.

I know Man it makes me cry. I had the pleasure of meeting Wayman a few years before he passed. And when i got to meet him i had had a accident eariler that day and was feeling really down. I did not get hurt in the accident but my van got messed up bad. And i did not know he would be there but we went to see his brother Weldon preach. And he was their so i went to shake his hand and without saying a word to him he told me everything would be ok. And right there i felt a heavy load from eailer that day just lift off me. God is good because he used Wayman to help me. Even i i just knew him for less then a minute i felt like i knew him for a long time. That might sound crazy but it's the truth. God bless.

The last thing my dad said to me was “Laura please help me “ ( he had covid and went down quickly) and after he passed I was going thru my phone and stumbled upon his voicemails , and oh my Lordy hearing his voice again brings comfort but also great sadness , one voicemail was “ love you, thank you , bye “ 🥺 ❤️

This is so beautiful. It's 1 week today I lost my mother to cancer. 77 years young. I know her pain is gone but now it's my turn to live in pain missing her madly. I'm 51 and honestly lost without her. Mom I love you and miss you dearly. Rest in eternal peace till we meet again.
I saw an interview with him about this song. He wrote it to play at his funeral and the saxophone player (Waymans former jazz bandmate) decided to record it.
R.I.P. Toby this song hits me hard i was diagnosed with throat cancer due to a lifetime of severe acid reflux. I chose not to seek treatment the Good lord has spoken death is a beautiful thing it is the next step of the journey we must all someday take alone. Awesome reaction. God bless you and your family.
Some people don't know Wayman's genius. He waa a great basketball player. The NCAA freshman of the year award is named after him. He spent a dozen years in the NBA, and then decided he would rather play music. THE MAN WON MULTIPLE GRAMMY AWARDS AS A JAZZ BASS PLAYER!!! Who else has done that??? He smiled when he got a fake leg that had his school logo on it! He hugged me and told to stop crying when I learned to walk again, because at least I had the chance to learn again. He was learning to use his prosthetic leg at the same time. Wayman was and always will be my hero.

Wayman Tisdale is a legend at The University of Oklahoma. He was on the 1984 Gold medal Olympic Basketball team. He was one of the first athletes to have their jersey number be retired. Years later Blake Griffin called Wayman and asked for permission to use his jersey number and Wayman said yes. It was then fully retired after Blake went to the NBA. We miss you 23. You will forever be the greatest Collegiate basketball player.

Heard this song for the first time this morning, I may have shed a couple tears in the shower.
This song came out right before my dad passed. I had just bought this CD and my husband, knowing TK is my absolute favorite country artist, hid my CD from me until he thought I could take the emotional journey this song takes me on. I still tear up but now it's after the first note instead of on the first note. He gave it back to me about a year later. ❤
Toby couldn't record it for a while but he sang it at his funeral & invited his family to ACM award show & sang it.

I loved this song for years, posted it on Facebook many times never a response, made me sad, even posted it to some of my best friends never respond.....I love it, love toby, Love Wayman...live in Dallas during the 90`s ...1310 the Ticket would always talk bad about Wayman..I never got it.....but they always talked bad about any one from OKlahoma...then they had Barry Switzer on the show after he retired and fell in love with him.....anyone from Dallas that know`s 1310 you know I`m right

The verse, "So play your upside down, left handed
Backward bass guitar" is referring to the fact that Wayman played his guitar lefthanded...upside down and backward. Love this song.

12 years ago my father passed. I had to put a song playlist together and needed just one more song… ran out of his favourites. Ran out of ideas. This song found me out of the blue and I just lost it after holding my shit together the 6 months prior that he went downhill fast.
I know Danny sent me this song directly, I don’t believe fate but I don’t believe in coincidence either… I do believe that I got some hands on my shoulders though. I’ll never forget that.
