Ive got to the point where every night i plug into thèse old Xfm shows While im falling asleep. Been doing it for 4 years, i cant sleep without it now.
Snap haha
I wonder if he still does it 5 years later
i do the same! i start from 98 with no karl, right through the xfm years, podcasts, radio2, more podcasts, nme show and then all the specials after. i think I've given myself a spectrum disorder
@@mowvu5380 Are you aware of any material featuring the trio that isn’t found here in Man Moth’s archives, per chance? :)
@@jackmccarthy986 I don't stick to a single channel. they've all got the same audio. i just search for series 1 1998 and go from there in order wherever i find them lol.
going through the gervais guide to... series' at the minute. after them it's back to the beginning ffs
17 years on and it's still hilarious, here's to a great 2023
Class
These 2 radio 2 shows are a yearly tradition in December. The rest of the shows and podcasts I listen to every day
Cool to hear tRicky saying he wants to preserve the recording for future listening ;) So thankful this WAS recorded and that it's available for all of us to listen to for the rest of our lives. Big ups Man Moth!
Karl’s delivery of the “put my head in a vice” line is perfect
I absolutely love it when Ricky and Steve are screaming at Karl and winding him up and he just goes 'Argh I can't be bothered" and plays a song to shut them up
Me 2
Sick of it
My favourite moment like that is Karl yelling "I hate him, I HATE HIM" as the song fades in.
21:13 “I never want to see you wearing that helmet again. You look ridiculous.”
😂😂
Love these three together, nobody makes me laugh like them.wish they were still doing these.
I can’t sleep without listening to these three now 😅
Merry Christmas to everyone 🎄♥️
the helmet advice from his dad. hahhahahhahhah
Cockoff Gewgle funniest thing I've ever heard
I never want to see you wearing that again..... you look ridiculous.
As soon as Steve mentioned the word "Cinema" my heart sunk. The Crouching Tiger story. How many times has he told that one?
The Curmudgeon twice
your dad I would say three times. Once here and I’m pretty sure twice on XFM. Either way I don’t blame him. That’s over the course of years and it’s not like they knew one day people would be listening to their shows over and over.
Chinese or Japanese some oriental language, it’s a strange language.
This is the 2nd time I'm sure?
Funny name for a film!
Coming to you on 31/12/21. 16 years later, and this is still bloody hilarious. Here's hoping 2022 will be better.
Edit: Today is the 1/1/23. I don't feel like 2022 was particularly a great year - neither in a personal context or a global one. I have every bit of confidence that 2023 will be better though.
Edit 2 (30/12/23): This has been the best year for me since 2019. Globally, I don't think things will ever pick up again - I'd love to be wrong though.
This didn't age well in the global context! But I hope your 2022 is going well mate
Yeah you jinxed it, you're an idiot. Play a record.
@Franz Fanon better than 2020 + 2021
@Franz Fanon well I was hoping that Covid and all the shit in the world would stop. But it just hasn't - it was just wishful thinking.
It wasnt
Now time for Ricky Gervais Show!
Karl having a go at Steven Hawking for looking miserable... lmao.
57:29 "It floated off!" Oh my god!!!!! I'm almost suffocating from laughter!!!!!!! Karl's even funnier than when they were on XFM!
It's Christmas so it's time for xfm Christmas special. Love listening ot these every year
Finding these previously unheard Christmas specials when I've went through the series and podcasts about four times is very much like a Christmas present.
This is one of my favourite RG, SM and KP shows. Ricky - "I love it when a matador gets gored to death, I love it because the bull didn't want to be there" Steve - "Happy New Year" :)
Steve so sharp
yes most of the material is recycled from XFM but keep in mind this is from a national radio station broadcast, not just XFM which only covered London over FM radio. When this went out, I would guess 95% of the listeners had never heard of Karl before. It also explains why they aren't swearing or saying anything too controversial.
It's not so much the fact they recycle stories, it's that they're acting like it's the first time they've been told. And honestly I don't buy that they forgot, you don't simply forget something like Karl's theory about gay people going out late especially since there was only a few months gap between this and xfm series 4. Point is it seems a bit faked which I guess they did to appeal to the new radio 2 audience
@@skeleetoon xfm isn't scripted, the podcast was
@@youdontseeanoldmanhavinatw4904 never said xfm was , this video is from radio 2 thats what i'm talking about
@@skeleetoon right, I'm just commenting on xfm and the podcast. I think the radio 2 is somewhere in the middle
@@youdontseeanoldmanhavinatw4904 oh ok, i think i somewhat agree then
Lol at the peaceful background music during the sermon
I've never noticed that before.
Bach's 'Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring', that.
I love this. I very much wish Karl would explain more biblical tales. He's the best.
I love Steve, but I bet he still tells the Crouching Tiger story to this day. I think it was even in his stand up.
Martin Graham I spoke to Steve last week and that’s all he talked about
Te
Funny name for a film
Same with the giant TV too. "David Dickensons tan took me eyeballs out"
I'm so tired of Rick's "weeing in the sink story".
3 days from Christmas have a great one everybody
and a happy new year
''Didn't the lion have long hair aswell though?'' Brilliant, love that hahaha
Ricky: "Where did the water go!?"
Karl: "It floated off."
I've listened to these shows for ten years and i've never heard this christmas special until today. that line is pure bliss to a junkie like me :D
as well as French Food-in-hand
I listened to that part twice
THIS IS MENTAL
For real though what is the explanation for that from religions that believe it?
@@MrFoodAndDrink Magic
John Inman had the most appropriate surname ever.
Lol.
He's free
You're a hero, Man Moth, up there with xclootie (RIP)
I've NEVER heard this before, somehow!
Joel Cameron Cheers mate!
And I've never heard of xclootie
I second this! Man Moth is a hero!
It seems like everyone who watches these always watch them on repeat including me, I've heard every show they've done 20 times over XD We've seen many youtubers come and go uploading these like rickygervaisfantoby, Man Moth, you are a legend.
I've listened to these since I was a kid in college and still going through them at least once a year. I know all shows by heart, verbatim, unfortunately I'm not kidding. These two episodes, however, I never ever heard. Eureka!
Karl got stung by a jellyfish, and claims he "could have had a moan," but didn't.
Then what was "Do We Need Them?", where he advocated for their extinction, if not a "moan?"
Very true ! 🤣
I can't believe I've never heard this episode before. Was stoked to find it!
NOOOOOOOO! NOT THE CROUCHING TIGER HIDDEN DRAGON STORY! ANYTHING BUT THE CROUCHING TIGER HIDDEN DRAGON STORY!
HOW OLD WAS HE AGAIN
FUNNY NAME FOR A FILM
I know I’m sick him
Don't look now, Steve. But there's one too many people on this show and I think it's you!
I think Steve is great off the cuff but his “anecdotes” are brutal
November 2023 and still listening :)
Man Moth.. I don't say it enough, thank you so much for uploading all the videos you've done. You absolute legend :)
November 2021 :) and still listening
Merry Christmas 2021
Is Ricky an atheist? Who knew...
I know what you mean. He does like to let everyone know he's an Atheist. But the same can be said for MANY of the religious.
Many, but not all of course. I'm quietly a believer in god, the difference is that I love science and can't stand crazies and loudmouth fundamentalists. I also find Ricky hilarious and brilliant.
you believe in God and you can't stand crazies? I sense a paradox
...and I sense you've missed my point. Dude I work in genetics, I'm not a blind believer. I just find it impossible to rule out creationism even with science, it's not possible. Maybe that's not the same as believing in a god, but even if I do, that's not the same as being crazy. Just being objective here.
You can rule out creationism, it's easy... the world is not 6000 years old, that's a fact as a geneticist you should be aware of that. Do you consider the Bible a reliable source? That is the only source one has to go on when considering the existence of a "God". It was written in a time when people didn't even understand what a molecule is.... I can understand the wonder and mystery that would spawn an idea such as that but it's based on blind hope and a world without science
Adam & Eve had a criminal record 😂
The contempt in Ricky's voice when Karl is giving "the sermon" is priceless.
we made it through another year pilkoids 🍊
A fellow juicer who also listens to XFM?
The pained noise Ricky makes at 1:25:10 gets me every time
The fact I know what sound you’re referring to without listening to it shows how much I listen to them.
Wonder if Karl's ever listened to Hurricane by Bob Dylan, that ones got a story and that
I would love to hear how he misinterprets it
'That's the most ridiculous, convoluted, RACIST interpretation I've ever heard on radio.'
@@aaronfledge It's a song about this guy and that who went robbin and killed a boxer or somethun, then he got caught in a bad wind and that
@@ChrisOliver4307 It's takin' you longer than it takes Bob Dylan in the song! And we've still got to fit in Monkey News!

If you're gonna quote him...
Just a thread for myself to log when I listen to these …21/10/2021
Love this! Heard variations of a lot of this before but this is more in-depth and that much sweeter coz I never heard it before. Thanks man [moth]! :)
French Food-in-hand. Genius
that is definitely the most mental rockbuster
Michele Neri for me it’s definitely “deli meat tree”
@@YourOwnDa "Buy On Ferry"
Crunch Buttsteak Her man Her Mitts is my favorite
"will son pick it" is my favourite, genius
The biggest laugh was hearing the BBC theme immediately following Monkey News.
Cheers, Man Moth.
France FoodInHand is an underrated Rockbuster
Thanks man moth so glad someone uploads these
the snake said... “alright”
He really sold the apple to Eve, he told her, "it's good and that.".
France food in hand
Worst one ever. Lol
"My head is sort of fat and square.... so how dare you!" HAHAHAHA. The little things always get me.
Merchant's movie experience bit was beautiful in it's brilliance.
Aye, once.
Karl being sick because of the RAM pack is a classic
I’ll never tire of hearing that story lollll
man moth you really are a top geezer
+Alexander giles Cheers mate!
+Man Moth no worries
Man moth. Legend.
Love karls bible
In another show when Karl brings up subtitles and having no distractions, Ricky praises him.
He really is pretty fickle. Changes his mind with the wind.
"I went in there and got the chairs. Took em back, he's being really moody. He said uhhh, oh see you got a load of sand on em, I said well there's loads of it out there."
Lmfao. How can you possibly rent out deck chairs at a beach and complain they come back sandy? Man alive.
“The copper, I think his name is PC Wilcox of NYPD, right” 1:23:13
Dixon of Queens.
58:20 - i love karl messing up and making steve and rick jump😅
I can hear the anger in rickys voice about hawking haha Karl was going for funny but he went too far with it and Ricky said no, I think even Karl knew ‘yeah I didn’t mean that’ haha
god goes mental at 'em
I have never heard this, wtf! Awesome
Awesome cheers man moth
Henrik Larsson No problem :-)
Adam & Eve went off and had kids, that added extra pressure...
These really do make a dull day a good day. Thank you Man Moth! Will you be uploading the podcast series 1,2 3 4 5 Guide To....s? too much?? 😂 Haha! I'm already so grateful xx
+Amy Taylor Christiansen You're very welcome Amy! I won't be uploading any of the stuff you can buy like the podcasts, just incase it gets the channel taken down, but I'm constantly looking for new radio stuff :-)
+Man Moth yeah that's why Toby got took down in my view has to be, keep the monetised content off and you should be alright
Merry Christmas 2018!
57:32 K : "...It floated off...
...Oh I can't be bothered!!!" :D
French food in hand.
Happy new year everyone
1:08 sly "happy Christmas" from Karl there hahahaha
i remember now what he said about cornwall, when they talked about him going in season 2 he said theres a lot of wierd lookin ppl there, as a dig at steve 😊
Graeme Lemay yeh wasn’t that when he said about the woman with a funny neck who was always looking down 😂
How have i never heard this
33:30 LMAO Ricky's imitation of the Queen!!
His imitations are hilarious
I always say the same under these uploads but, yet again, it's so refreshing to hear Karl's 'man on the street' style cynicism with regards to the racket that (often) is modern 'charidee'!
This is no exception with, by this point, bona fide celebs Ricky and Steve slapping themselves on the back for Live8 and "raising awareness" (< read egotistical self-promotion) before Karl questions whether it actually achieved anything tangible!
Never change Karl. ;)
''So your heads in the vice, tighten it, and you're going... AGGGGHHHHHHHHHH.''
Imagine him as The Riddler in the next Arkham game. “Ooom..You relieve yourself whilst looking at elephants, giraffes, animals and that. What am I?”
"It floated off.." 😂😂 57:29
Steve might have been annoyed by the noise but imagine how annoyed the guy sitting behind him was.
I would've loved to be a fly on the wall in the meeting with the BBC2 managing director when they inevitably discussed how this show went and if they were interested in picking up the show on a weekly basis. That's probably the event that spawned the podcast and the HBO animated series, and we can be thankful for that.
AFAIK they were covering for Jonathan Ross. They'd never have had their own show on Radio 2.
Why do you people just make shit up? This was during series 1 of the podcast.
@@jameshoffa7085 no it wasn’t… these were at the end of December 2005 and series 4 of XFM ended in June 2005
Cheers mate
Jacqui Hacqui Very welcome
How many times has Steve told that shit cinema story
Not as many times as silly twats moaning in the comments about his cinema story👍🏽
@@pinotgrigio4707 it's boring as shit
Twice. And I've seen at least four discussions about it so far.
It was supposed to be a radio show, not meant as episode, ór repeated listenings. Don't bitch about the stories just because wé have taken to listening to these things hundreds of times.
Only twice that's why I don't see why people moan about it.
Ay, the moth is back. :D
The Anti-Theist Trying to be, if I can find anything new :-D
Man Moth You should also put up all the vlogs and other Karl/Ricky stuff, not just the show/podcasts. Something for you to think about. :D
The Anti-Theist Nice one cheers, I'll have a look!
Like you all, I've listened to these many many MANY times over. (thank you man moth)
But I have to say, of all rockbusters ever... And I defend several of the others... "French food-in-hand" is the absolute worst one of all time and absolutely does not work!! 😂
Does anyone know if Ricky is an atheist? I don't think he said in this video. 😐
I don't reckon he is mate, i reckon he loves god

I think I'd read the entire bible if Karl had written it
Went out on me bike, comin back into the garden, dad see's me, says 'come ere', i said 'wha?', he said 'i never wanna see ye wearin tha helmet again, you look ridiculous'
17:50 had me fuming!😂😂😂
I've never heard this before and I don't know why! although the content is the same as all the other stuff. love Karl doing the Bible.
"Didn't the lion have long hair as well?" LMAO Ricky's like a smart ass student in a Bible class taught by Karl Pilkington.
Best song with a story is "Lily, Rosemary and the Jack of hearts" by Bob Dylan in my opinion :D
lol at KP trying to follow a Dylan song. Id love to see him analyse Fourth Time Around. That would be incredible.
Hahahaha, I would love to see that haha

It was. I prefer the other one. Doesn't Ricky say something about the woman eating the husband if he doesnt laugh?
