- Cabarete Dominican Republic - My Cost of living! In this video I give you a rough estimate of my personal cost of living. of course, it will vary for everyone but what I want to convey is that you dont need a large sum of money to be able to enjoy this country.

We stayed a week in Cabarete and loved it. Definitely going back. We previously stayed in Puerto Plata and loved it there too....... definitely want to live there a few months a year after retirement.

How long have you been in the DR? I ask because your view of the North shore comes off as naive. I've been to several areas of the DR and I find the Sosua/ Cabarete interaction with locals problematic. Many scammers, lots of theft and don't think of driving or using a motoconcho. Ever is out to get the gringo.
I’ve been the DR 6 months and most of that time on the north coast. I’m sorry you have had such a bad experience. But there are bad apples everywhere.

We are insured with ARS Monumental. They have offices in several cities. But remember like I said in the video there are several tiers and it also is based on age. All the best.😀

Yes as long as your willing to live in Dominican neighborhoods you will find cheaper rent. And for me it was my preference.
@Will_The_Conscious_Traveler I don't really care where I live persay, but need to be around good people. So living in around Dominican areas. To me that just means there is gonna be a bunch good food is around.
How much for an apartment
In my opinion it really varies depending on the time of year and the amount of amenities you require like AC. But apartments can start as low as studios for 300 a month

Even if your not working. Let’s you are on a retirement salary you can live a great life here. Or if you can find a job online? Your good!!
