The Maya built amazing things, but the mere fact of an echo from a flat wall when everything else is quiet is NOT an amazing thing. At Chichen-Itza, the echo does sound a bit like a chirp of a bird, but not really like a quetzal. All over the world, there are guides that tell tourists stuff like, "It's a miracle that only happens here. No where else in the world. Only here will there be an echo if you clap your hands." Not true.
