I strongly believe they had more tools than we know now.
In your reproduction you're showing all these trees around the temples where are the farm lands they had two million people there then the farm land was vast, huge even and they did slash and burn technique.
My big theory is they went through major droughts caused by deforestation.
That's the issue with most reconstructions, they only show the ceremonial center of these cities with all the big monuments and not all the farmlands surrounding them.
Also in this particular documentary they keep mentioning "basic stone tools" and showing horrendous "reconstructions", when they were not simple at all they were complex, just as much as any metal tools, the examples they've shown doesn't even look remotely to actual tools.
Also "they didn't know the wheel or metal", that is just wrong, there is a difference between knowing and actively using.

Waste of money, deconstructing one carefully to see what they were up to. Then put it back together after we figure out why they built these, makes more logical sense... Just saying
Not worth the effort as restoring them would involve money, and currently humanity is not exactly sure how they were correctly built or function.
However it would be best to keep them preserved, and have a side project where people could scratch build some until they figure out a process that creates a similar designs.
Like the ancient architecture of mesopotamia and ancient egypt and elsewhere, people often just make recreations (like this video) of these in many sort of ways, and for some it suffices.
