    Is anyone else seeing the weird interference lines appearing on this video? The uploaded video doesn't have those so I figured it was only happening on our end? If so, we will may need to re-upload....

    Ben thank you! You are seriously one of the, if not the most knowledgeable person in this industry. I’m so glad I chose you guys to get the perfect setup.

    Thanks for the great info, I have a 21 4Runner that I am building up over the next 5-6 years before I retire. I'm not building a rock crawler just something fun for my wife and I to do back country trails and camping. I have found that your company is one of the most knowledgeable for suspension mods. Once I get my 4Runner built with most of the gear that will be the time to upgrade the suspension. We will be in touch. 😀

    Not guilty of shock length, guilty of owning multiple springs. My ultimate setup was the addition of the ride rite air bags inside the springs, this works perfect for me. Great content, thanks!!

      So glad to hear it! We do not work with Fox at this time. Mainly King, ADS, and Radflo.

    My understanding was that the 120/150 series prados (think they are called GXs in the states) ran a variation of the 80 series rear end- I was under the impression that physically shocks were interchangeable between the two.
    Great cars in any case, there's a reason that the police, farmers and nearly all remote mine sites use them out here.

      They shocks are "interchangeable" they will fit along with the fortuner(I own a fortuner) all the shocks are the same the difference is on the fortuner the top mount bushings are smaller

    Good stuff, great work explaining in detail the ins and outs for these applications. Does this apply to 100 series Land Cruisers as well?

      Thank you! No, the LC100 and LX470 are different and generally do not need custom length rear shocks. Great question.

    I recently purchased the Eibach 2.0 coil over kit for my 4Runner. It's kind of aggravating that it is advertised as a 1" lift for the rear, however, it seems that the rear shocks are the same length as stock, at 24" fully extended. I also looked at Bill Stein, and found it a little frustrating that the rear shocks were listed from 0 - 2 in of lift.
    The more I learn about Toyota suspension, the more I wish I had a Jeep, lol.

      Having owned a jeep, don’t ever feel like that. The amount of time I spent fixing my low mileage rubicon was infuriating.

      @@timothyc4214 haha, yeah I mostly like the Yota for that reason. I'm just jealous of how easy and responsive to mods the Jeep suspension is.

    Thank you for posting this info. It’s one thing I’ve contemplated in my head for years. Question: Does KDSS come into play here. A lot of brands say the extended travel cannot be used with KDSS.

    • @Filthymotorsports
      @Filthymotorsports  2 года назад

      Great question, yes, we offer rear KDSS spacers that offset for the added lift height.

    Hi Ben, Thank you for the super informative videos! Does this same rule of thumb apply to the 3rd Gen 4Runners and the King Performance OEMs? Looking to move from stock on a 98 4Runner to King OEMs and 33" 285's

  • @evolusd

    Surprised people lift rear 2" and dont think they need longer shocks. Seems pretty straightforward, no?

    I am a customer who bought king shocks set for 120 series Toyota. How can I know if the shaft length has been adjusted like you suggest in this video?

    • @Filthymotorsports

      If they were purchased through us, they would have been the correct length but if you email us we can confirm.

    Curious, Are you able to re-build king shocks, front and rear to this spec?

    • @Filthymotorsports
      @Filthymotorsports  Год назад

      Yes, but it would be more expensive than selling and ordering new as you would need new cylinders and shafts, plus the labor.

    I noticed that 279a and 125a were offered for the 4runners, what are the differences? And how does the ext differ than the non-ext for these models

    • @Filthymotorsports
      @Filthymotorsports  2 года назад

      They are the same shock, identical. "Ext" on those part numbers simply means a 1/4" internal shaft spacer is removed.

    I'm super interested in rear bypasses from king for the rear. Another company told me they don't recommend it because of variable weight in the rear causes the mid stroke to be off. I'm looking to have a long travel 4runner without buying long travel

      Using the wheelers off-road T13

    • @Filthymotorsports
      @Filthymotorsports  Год назад +1

      There is no real need for bypasses on a 4Runner unless it is being spec'd out for stock class desert racing. Reach out to us directly and we can give you more specific recommendations.
