You typically want to apply the oil with a non woven pad rated just higher than your last sanding grit. Always remove and buff off the excess/residual oil by hand with a terry cotton towel
Hi there, i want to buy this oil but how can i apply this without the buffer tool you have? I have grinders, drills etc but i am not sure how i can best apply it.
I want to use this for a walnut-topped solid body guitar. Im concerned it may be a bit too soft, and was wondering if you have any thoughts or suggestions?
We have many luthiers using Odie’s. It is not a film forming finish that sits on the surface, rather it penetrates into the wood fiber where is then cross links and bonds molecularly. As the finish cures it stabilizes and hardens the wood offering protection and lasting durability
You can use the white pad (non-abrasive) or the gray micro fine (if you did not sand over 800 grit). See pads on our website odiesoil.com/11-gray-micro-fine-finishing-pad-5-pack/
That is not a stain. It is Odie's oil applied on walnut (it is a translucent oil, that will protect, seal and bring out the natural color of the wood).
Ok. I am guessing it is the walnut that is making it look like that. Absolutely beautiful. I have a live edge bar i am building right now but my top is pine. Would that oil bring out a color like that on pine?
@@kennylefebvre6158 The oil will bring out the natural color of the pine (like a wet-look effect). If you would like your piece to look like walnut, we do recommend mixing in the oil our walnut pigment color and applying as per oil (always run a test piece). odiesoil.com/mr-cornwalls-creative-colors/
You can apply the oil with a machine (once you mastered applying by hand first) as in this video. We do not recommend using a machine to buff off and remove the excess as the bonnet will just get loaded up with oil very fast and smear it around on the surface. Always remove and buff the oil off by hand with a terry cotton towel. This video is demonstrating the application of the oil, not the removal.
@@Odiesoil OH... thats good to know - because it is SO hard to distribute by hand. Feels like pushing honey around - very sticky and doesn't spread like the Odie videos show. I'm in a 72° shop too - so not sure why its so difficult?

Hello. We don't recommend to use the polisher for a first time user, first learn the product on a couple of projects using for application the applicator pad by hand, and after you can jump to a polisher. This video is a representation of our distributor in Ohio, that are doing at least 600 live edge slabs per year.Thank you for watching!
I love the soundtrack also!❤
Thanks for respecting that beautiful old tree.
Never gets old. Nice job
Just BEAUTIFUL!!

Is there someone rolled up in the carpet?
You sold me. I’m buying it.
Thanks for giving our finishes a try! We are confident you will love the finish 🙌
How long before a recoat is needed? Butcher block counters specifically. I use walrus oil normally but it needs a lot of attention
Only when needed! or you can spot repair! for a hight traffic countertop maybe re application after 8 months or longer!
What pad did you use to get that finish? Did you come back with another pad?? Thanks

Good work
Would this waterproof the wood?
Yes, will be waterproofed after the fully cure time of 3 to 5 days.
Beautiful I want that piece!!!!
I just finished a walnut bass I’m building with odie’s oil dark 💪
Nice!!
@@Odiesoil yes sir!
Anybody know what version of “nothing else matters” song this is? Sounds live?
Korn playing Metallica's "One" at Metallica's Icon show.
what grit was it sanded to prior to applying the odie's oil
You can sand to any grit with our finishes. The higher you sand and refine the surface the higher the initial sheen

Beutiful👍🏽
Odies website says do NOT use a machine buffer - takes off TOO much of the oil and just smears it around. Always buff by hand.

:). Metallica: One!
