I had one of the original Arp Odyssey synths back in the day. I bought the Behringer model earlier this year and pulled out all of the drawings I had for my old Odyssey presets and as an original Odyssey user, the Behringer redux is extremely true to the original with some extra perks. I am very happy.
Do you still have any of the blank cutout patch sheets from the original? If so, do they fit this odyssey? The white version was my 1st synth. Sold the synth, but forgot the patch sheets.
Got mine about 2 years ago and I'm still amazed at how deep the sound-crafting ability is on it. The EFX section really takes it to an even higher level. Best "mono"synth I ever bought, and I've had a few. Thanks, Behringer and Sweetwater!
I used to do the edgar winter frankenstein thing. My band director got excerpts from 6 wives of Henry 8th(wakeman) for me to solo the odyssey. Saved my busrat money and bought it new in high school(the white version). My piano wizard pal would whip out 2-finger Bach and I worked the sliders which blew us all away. Good times. Also rocking the octave switch was fun.
Bought one from Sweetwater back in November of 2019 and let me tell you this thing is mean and angry ina good way! Highly recommend it, solid construction and still rock solid no issues since I got it. Daniel Fisher is the Maestro in the Synth World.
I have one these for a few years now, and it's a beauty of a synth! I love it! I gigged with it last night.. Behringer kicked ass on this one! I love the fact you have reverbs, delays and an affects section and a arpeggiator/sequencer built in. Plus the synth chassis is sturdy made of metal...I personally don’t give a F*** about weight, I hall around a Hammond and Leslie... I wanted a real Synth, not some sh!tty desk-top computer studio crap...I'm a live Player. I remember a few years back about some Controversy between Korg's and Behringer's versions of the Arp Odyssey...To me it was a no brainer. The Korg Version had these skinny keys that I really wasn’t a fan of... the price difference between the 2, and the fact it didn't have the arpeggiator/sequencer, or affects..you had to get them separately.... I don't understand the the snobby mockery towards some Behringer products... I have no regrets buying this Synth! HAHA @ 10:00 reminded me of The Old early 80's TV PBS logo theme when I was a little kid.
I have noticed some don’t have the colorful lighting on videos I’ve watched . Why is that? I just bought one and haven’t opened it yet to see I hope they’re like yours and not all white like others I’ve seen on RUclips. Ty for the video .
In the last years I had some synths of Behringer (due to the low-cost argument). But the only one left until today is the Odyssey. As for me the best synth Behringer currently offers (I know, the Deepmind12 was great but the Odyssey is one step further). Ringmod, S&H, modulation ... easy to use to create perfect sound. The keyboard is better than expected (but it´s not the quality of a Fatar keyboard) but the "modulation pads" are nearly unusable (my only complaint).
@@-The-Darkside The Deepmind 12 was my first poly after a pretty long time. The last poly I had was a Roland JP-8000. Paid new for it over 3.000 DM. When selling it (mint condition) I´ve just got about 1.000 DM ... a pretty big loss. The DM12 was about 500 € in mint condition. Selling it once for nearly the same price 👍. Regarding the sound the DM12 was (to my opinion) more powerful than the JP-8000. What I didn´t like was the fan noise, especially in summer times. But soundwise the DM12 was a fantastic instrument.
Ok but it is a false duophony, like the one you can make in an MS20 or in an ARP 2600 with cables, or like the monopoly that makes 4 notes with the same amplifier and filter.
Hi inperfectsequence. I used the word "paraphonic" to describe the duophony in the intro because, like you wrote, the oscillators don't have separate amps and filters for each note. But, with paraphony, it's so musically useful to be able to move two notes independently, even if they share the same filtering and amp. -_Daniel_
I had this synth for a year and a half it's a great reproduction but the reverb is useless and yes I know it's original but those rubber pitch benders are useless, would've kept it otherwise, needed polysynth ....... with good reverb.

@@jjrusy7438 I never had any of those. I just made my own drawings on notebook paper.

Haha I'm just the opposite, I don't really care for the all colored lights 😮

I have the deepmind 12 and it's great but I wish I'd bought the rack version, it's just too big for my needs.

Behringer is the "Paul's Boutique" of hardware manufacturers.
Here comes the lawsuit, baby!
I can’t play the piano, but I want one. I know I’d get something out of it.
You definitely will! It has expression, attitude and personality in spades!
