Here is a little adventure I took into some higher country .. check it out here ruclips.net/video/V9SyDxxptC8/видео.htmlsi=_gVMwcSnDTnq6gOf. Thanks!!
Found your channel and have really enjoyed this! Thank you! Look forward to more.
@BrettVaughnB100 wonderful videos man! Just wondering, what shades are those!!?
If you think the USGS has got a clue or a grain of honesty about when there was last volcanic activity there, you are deluded. They regularly come up with dates of tens of millions of years ago with their tests for lavas that erupted yesterday, they are stuck in decades old and disproved understandings of tectonic and magmatic processes, and preserving real estate and commercial mining interests dollars rank far above the potential of threat to human lives.
There are many volcanic features that are less than a few centuries ago active in these areas. But the "really smart people" in geology are not the ones you ever hear a word from. They are snapped up by mining interests. The ones that are left in academia and outfits like the USGS are largely the dregs and the least capable of understanding what's right in front of their noses of anyone in their field on the planet.
"...there's something about remote, lonely, desolate places that attract me.. just a feeling of peace and freedom that you get from being out here..." -- exactly. Another great adventure!
Yes Yes ... Thank you
Your desert is my woods, and we go there for the same reasons. Peace, serenity, solitude, therapy and the love of Mother Nature. Onward and Upward, Brett!
Yep .. I will be going up to the woods soon .. matter of fact sitting here wondering where I should go now .. gotta get out .. Thanks
Do you close the gates? If you dont dont cross my land, Ill find you and drag your greenhorn a** back so you can close the gate, CLOSE THE GATE
You are living the life. Most people only dream of doing what you are doing.
Thanks .. I am trying
150%!! Im one of those people over here still dreaming about doing this 😅🥰
What a beautiful video. The background music is a nice touch. Thank you so very much for sharing your videos. I also love remote, desolated places for the same reasons you stated, the peace, solitude and freedom you feel once there. Thank you
Thank you .. I think there are many of us that feel the same
Enjoyed seeing the crater. Unimaginable power. Looks like Brenda and you are starting to see eye to eye
I’m a country boy from southern Arizona and I find myself in South America, surrounded by jungle and people and how my heart aches for my big open spaces with no one around me. Thank you very much, sir, for yhe work
Stay safe my brother, and you will be back soon. Sending love and hugs. ❤😊
Makes ya wonder how anything survives out there. Holds its own beauty for sure. Thanks for bringing us along!
Glad you enjoyed it Thank you!

Brenda looks like she is coming along...I like her step.
She is doing a lot better .. I think she just had to decide I was the boss lol .. Thanks
Well that got weird ..
@@williamjones6053 wired .. how so ?
I couldn't agree more with the attraction of remote desolate place. The peace I get speaks to my soul. Thank you for another great video.
"The peace I get speaks to my soul" I like that .. Thanks
@BrettVaughnB100 anytime, sir. Thank you for sharing your adventures.
I'm born and raised in El Paso. Been to that crater many times with my grandfather. He would find green glass inside certain lava rocks.
It's nice to see you showing Brenda some respect and talking nice to her.
lol she earned it this time .. Thanks
Brett ,

Thanks for taking us on another adventure Mr Vaughn. Onward and upward and watch your top knot 👍
Thanks and you yourn
this trip reminds me of my prospecting days in the deserts of the southwest back in 70's
ah to be young again... I miss that time of my life
Speaking of flight paths, I live in the Mississippi Delta about an hour and a half south of Memphis Tennessee. A while back I flew to San Diego from Memphis with a layover in Houston. When we left Houston heading to San Diego we flew north of and paralleled interstate 10 all the way to Casa Grande and then paralleled interstate 8 all the way to San Diego. On the return trip we flew south of the interstate. Being and old truck driver I recognized landmarks all along the way. I’m certain we flew right over the area you’re in in this video.
Yeah there are a lot of flights through there .. thanks … wave next time lol
Those volcanic fields are so cool, and a surprising amount of wildlife exists out there too. It’s the middle of nowhere, but still less than ten miles off the interstate.
The smell of the desert, and the feel of the wind is a feeling that you will never forget 😊
I was stationed out there in the early 1990’s, while I was in the Coast Guard, at the LORAN station off of Afton Road. I loved it out there!
Cool .. I seen a circle like a target on google earth out there .. do you know anything about that ? Thanks
Hey ! I enjoyed that look at the area and the volcano crater was interesting ! It never ceases to amaze me how well your mules do wading through all the rock . I seems to be everywhere in your area ! Thanks for taking us along !
Glad you enjoyed it Thanks .. yes they do pretty good
Nice trip. Thanks for bringing us along.
Glad you enjoyed it thanks for coming along
Excellent Video! Thanks Brother for taking us along for the ride.
Any time! Thanks for coming
Thanks for the video.
Keep on exploring, Brett! Always good to see more of New Mexico. It's such a diverse landscape.
Thanks
Really enjoy this type of video! I'm glad Bill & Susie told me about your channel.
Glad you enjoyed it! Glad they told you too .. Thanks
That was a very entertaining episode! Thank You!!
Great video. Thanks for sharing
Thank you for showing the area on the map. That was helpful. I really enjoy your videos.
My pleasure! thanks for watching
Love the video. Another one of your vids of an area I have also been to this time with my Boy Scout Troop. It is desolate out there at the crater but the solitude is its own reward.
"But the solitude is its own reward" I like that thank you
This was great, thanks for sharing!
Another awesome adventure! Thank you. Keep on keeping on!!!
Thanks, will do!
Real cool and desolate. Thank you for sharing.
Something so simple and perfect about deserts.
Big thumbs up I really appreciate it!
You bet Thanks
Very good! Thanks 👍
That is one of the better looking volcanic craters I have seen. Mostly see cones along the Colorado River and in central Nev, big lava fields along 375 on the back of the Sierras. That one looks like popped a big cork going off nothing slow and steady for sure. Hey Thank you for dragging me along on your adventure.
Hello Brett, I enjoyed tagging along, wished I were on horseback or a mule with y’all. Bet that crater was interesting to see and the corrals, line shack where you camped out would be great to explore! Felt like I was right there with you, awesome views and an awesome ride, thanks! Greg
Thanks for tagging along ...
Thanks for talking this Pennsylvania country boy along. Itit's nice to see something other than tree covered hills .
That was fascinating. Definitely alone with your thoughts out there. Thanks for sharing your adventures
Glad you enjoyed it Thank you
Enjoyed the trip Brett .. great videos.. I will be waiting on the high country trips .. where there are pines and water .. 😂👍👍
Onward and Upward is the Watchword..
Yes soon .. Onward and Upward ....👍👍

Glad I came across you!
Thanks for another good video Brett, this almost as desalinate as the moon, I agree that Brenda hopefully still coming along and working out. As you know you need to show who’s boss, being a mule or horse.-Kid Yuma
Thanks Kid .. she is getting better
Deeper than expected.
Yes .. to hell lol .. Thanks
Been there in 2009, very dry, hot but beautiful at night. Had a great time exploring on foot and loved the crater. 😊
Totally agree! thanks
I really enjoy your videos between the stories and desert country I have never seen, and definitely the mules Brenda is looking good from my view.
Thanks 👍 She is improving
We enjoyed it thank you ......I'm looking forward to a trip back to were your dad took you camping when you was a kid again that one was one of the best ... give Brenda a big old kiss right smack on the lips for us.... have a good night
Glad you enjoyed it .. I will be going back into the same area looking for Mr Marrs old camp .. he was an old saddle maker that use to stay a month at a time .. I tried once before but had to come out .. Thanks
Stunning scenery. Thanks for sharing your adventures. Bill in Texas!

It really is! Thanks
That was a damn good video. The music was perfect for that barren country. Really enjoyed this one
I enjoyed trailing along. Thx.
Glad you enjoyed it Thanks
That was an awesome journey.😮 thanks Mr. Vaughn.🤔😀
I Enjoyed the venture in the desert with you..Thanks for sharing. Stay Free..
Glad you enjoyed it Thanks
Thanks!
Thanks ... !!!
I hear you about the freedom and peace and serenity you feel when your out like that, your definitely on your own.
Yes .. I do like it .. Thanks
You have some really nice mules! I'm happy you figured out how to hook up the water supply. I feel the same way about being out away from everyone and everything that you do. I used to ride the range in northwest Nevada and northeast California and I loved being alone in the high desert country there! I was a skinny little redhead girl when I started riding and moving cattle there, and all of the men thought I'd get lost and not know what to do. Surprise surprise! I had no problem and ended up showing them how to follow tracks and trails. It always came natural to me. I wish I was there with you!
My Sister was a redhead and my niece is a redhead .. lots tougher then most men I know lol .. Thank you
Good job on getting the water going!! Could be life saving and made your trip better!
I did come in handy .. thanks
Great Video! I love that area. I have been down many of those roads over the years. I have also spent much time looking for old watering stops along the old railroad line that is now under highway 9. Check out the open mine shafts scattered all over Potrillos Mountains as well. The desert is such a beautiful place.
Yes I will probably do some more exploring out there some time .. thanks
Almost no rust to be seen anywhere. That tells you all you need to know about that place.
I don’t know what you mean ??
Don’t recall hearing what Beautiful Brenda’s job was prior to you hauling her, but I think you and her are two of a kind. She seems to want to go right over the next cliff to see what is there and by her ears and expression, she wants to see what awaits around the bend as much as you do. I like BB a lot, and appreciate the trail ride with you to the crater. Thanks for letting us ride shotgun.
The guy that owns her has several mules .. they just use them for Elk Hunting once a year ... I'm still working on her we will see .. thanks for coming along shotgun
Desolate but wonderful open scenic views!
Goodday sir you are living the dream out there , thanks for the video i enjoyed it a lot .. greetings from Belgium
Glad you enjoyed it Thank you!!
Love the places you go. Love New Mexico.
Love your content! Just subscribed.
Lovely Volcanic caldera, i noticed a couple of plugs nearby also, very interesting area.
Its called The Potrillo Volcanic Field and it is still actually active and expected to erupt again at some point in the future. Its a rift zone so mainly get spatter zones and stuff of that nature but it also has had several phreatic eruptions in the past too.
Love the name of your channel, I feel exactly the same 😂 great video 😊
I enjoyed this trip, wherever you take us next is just fine with me. If I could get on a mule and go with you, I’d gladly put up with the saddle sores. Lol thanks sir till next time.
There might be a few first couple times out .. Thanks
Enjoyed the trip with you.
Thanks for coming
Thanks for sharing !
Enjoyed your trip to Southern New Mexico, you weren’t too fair outside of Deming. Have been Rockhound State which was West of where you were, actually stop the video and enlarged it to get a better idea of were you where. Safe travels.
Love that necko the woods ❤
This is why I carry hunnerd gallons of that wet stuff on top my trailer!
Yeah .. I forgot to mention I did have 5 gallons in the trailer ..
A hunert gallons is a lot of weight up high . More than 800lbs if full.
@@juliojames5986 I reinforced the framing, it rides ok
@@AnecdoteofaHoundsman 👍🏻👍🏻….yup. I thot so…
Reminds me of parts of Australia. Mt Isa, Cloncurry, far Western NSW during drought.
Seems any more we are always in a drought .. Thanks Troy .. i guess thats your name
Fascinating adventure. Sure are quite a few signs for being in middle of nowhere......😮
I know right? Thanks
Well this is where I had been trying to get to on the other video here : ruclips.net/video/5tFLQUlYTlM/видео.htmlsi=z0a9q8wCFf96OCH_ .. sure was in the middle of nowhere
I'm just like you I wish I had been born 120 years earlier thank for all you do I would love to ride with u sincerely Bill mise
❤ and man I enjoyed your looking around 😊 if I had a way I would do what your doing 😊
That’s a really big mud volcano. We have a bunch of small ones here in Central Texas. Most folks don’t even know what they are. Thanks for taking me along.
You bet thanks for coming along
Whats a mud volcano? Idk. I live around Abilene area.
My dad has an allotment near the painted desert & it’s desolate too. I loved it out there. Dad burned jets flying at 35k feet mess up the solitude.
they do .. Thanks
I was a desert rat growing up in Nevada.
It wasn't until I got married and had children I stopped exploring the desert around me. From the northern part to the southern part's of Nevada I explored as a child and young adult.
My mom would pack us kid's a lunch. Fill our canteen's with water and a whistle around our necks.
The whistle was to be used in case of an emergency ONLY.
I didn't realize what I saw until I got older and had children of my own.
Horny toads are far and few in between now.
Where as a child they were many.
Beautiful country
You have a very unique channel.... my type of dude 👍 keep on keeping on brother
Thanks! Will do!
Hooked on your videos, can’t wait to get my horses and mule out and do some mountain riding, we spend a lot of time in the south San Juan’s you should come along this summer you have my interest peaked in some New Mexico trails, I spent a lot of time researching the middle fork video might have to try it out thanks
Have fun! I would like to get into some cooler country this summer .. Thanks
You should look up shoot springs up out of Miami Arizona. There were pear trees there. Nice area.
Forgot to say. Watch for snakes at shoot spring.
Pretty cool there are ocotillos out there.
awesome adventure!
Thank you .. it was
My daughter and I enjoyed this trip, both my daughter s are fluent in Spanish just got through listening to them converse on the phone in Spanish, pretty cool.
Thats great .. I speak decent spanish for work .. but thats about it .. Thanks
@@BrettVaughnB100 is Spanish widely spoken in that area?
Rough terrain looks like lava rock ive ridden in a lot of that on horse checking cattle on the Cailf Oregon border.
Lots of it around this place .. Thanks
HAPPY Friday 😊.

Frank Zappa said don’t you go where the huskies go but if you’re in the desert, go where the cows go
Pretty good advice I guess .. Thanks
15 minutes in and I'm a fan. To the good life.
Perfect thank you
LAUGHING when your Dog pissed on the Building! BUILDING IS MINE!
lol yeah he don't care lol .. Thanks
What an interesting journey, thanks for sharing! Aren't you afraid your car and trailer are gone when you come back? I had people trying to break into it when I still drove my car, lucky I saw it and chased them away.
No I guess not .. don't think about it much .. maybe I should? Thanks
COOL OLD PLACE 👍
Interesting
Good stuff here sir, great title for a channel, I often feel the same way.
Thank you kindly
That's a different kind of wilderness than what I'm used to here in western Pennsylvania. Interesting.
I bet .. thanks
Man this was cool, I'm sure glad you shared. that crater was rally something. so was the solar panel for water. Be well.
Glad you enjoyed it Thanks
I'm camped up on Northstar Mesa and came all the way up Lincoln Canyon to get here that way. Trails and roads are in good shape. Just a few puddles.
