Omg! You’re a geezer after my own heart! Big Bend SW TX, Davis Mts. That has to be the area you were in. I’ve been there twice. Stayed at Fort Davis and the Chisos Basin. Saw my first javelina in that basin. Lived in Dallas now AZ. I love Big Bend. The way the Rio Grand winds its way through those red canyon walls in the barren landscape. Stunning! One of my favorite national parks. First time I was there was in early 80’s then later in the 80’s again before moving to AZ. There is something about the desolation and isolation and pure primitiveness of it that grabs you. I wanted it to swallow me up in its wild singularity. I want to go back. On horseback would be ideal. You would feel the immersion
into a time without cars and engines knowing the only way to travel. I’m jealous! Take me with you!

You are like the man i spent most of my life with. We would hike for days on end. He always chose the nights camp and never lit a fire where no fire had been. He showed cache left by Jesuit, spanish, and indian. But never took a single thing. He died at the age of 84. Blind, deaf, and broke. The richest man I've ever known.

Thanks for showing petroglyphs ! The mortar holes, first thought is where would grain grow, then when, and it leads to pre-younger dryas, even though the "experts" think they are only a couple of millennia. To me that site screams of space falls, the second Sun, making the real Sun sad, as the Egyptians visualized for atmospheric loading. The most notable is the extended tails of an omega symbol that superbolides produce from the two vortices.

  • @georgelemoine7402

If I'm not mistaken, the holes were used to crush rocks looking for metals, gold & copper look into the history of the area to see if the Francain or Jesuits were in the area. From the marking, it was on the kings trail, and the lizard was a turtle that's the bank.

What a great spot! Some of those petroglyphs were Spanish, not just Indian.
Talking about rattlesnakes, there's an area South of that location where, story goes, a guy was clearing some mesquite on the ranch land and the rattlesnakes were so thick, he had to close himself up in the cab because he was flinging snakes up all over the dozer. In the evenings, the boss had to pull up to the dozer and the operator would have to jump out of the cab into the back of the truck.

Those drawings on the rocks made me go to Google to try and look them up, to see what they meant. They didn’t show any aliens or ant people, with any meaning, but they did explain the meaning of two circles with a line between them. Apparently, some think it represents communication, but who knows? I was searching under "Apache" and "Pueblo" but didn’t have much luck. I did come across some of those symbolic wheels, though. It’s a good way to kill some time looking them up.
Google has a bunch of photos of them with their meanings underneath, so it might be worth checking out next time, once you know what you’re looking at. I did see a couple of photos of those aliens or ant people, but who knows what they mean?
It looks like y’all are having fun, and that’s what really matters. I’m just waiting for the middle or end of September to take off on my yearly adventure-it’s been a hot summer!
    Take care Solon

I'm glad you showed us this place. You are absolutely right modern man has it way too easy today. Those people were tough. The Indians were tough and the settlers and prospectors were tough too. Just think about how many times we have taken antibiotics in our lives. A lot of the things would have killed us without modern medicine. Those people had none of that and had to deal with all of the adversity that came in the 1800s. It is amazing that people even survived to be 30 years old back then.

I wonder if the crosses are note of the Spanish conquistadores in the area, as they do resemble them. I was told that the holes were to hold water when it rained as it was in such short supply. Some of them placed in hunting grounds to lure animals in to drink the water. Awesome coverage.

Thank you for the Arrow, very clear now to see what you are pointing out 👌
And I truly hope that you will find something, there is still stuff out there because they never could have searched every inch of the desert otherwise they would have found loads of people or things that are still out there by folks that don't mean well..

I am not convinced the crosses all over the place were etched by Native people, it's not like anything else I have ever seen. They must have been made by the invaders.

@22:41. "Lilo". Who was Lilo? You will find this at many of the regional petroglyphs sites in about a 70 mile+ radius. I wrote an article on on my website. Would be a good one to solve. I think that the outlined equi-length cross is Native - not a treasure sign. Some archies say it was to commemerate a supernova that used to be visible in the sky. I think it may just be a sacred four directions sort of thing. There is what looks like a post-contact glyph in that panel. It's the circled traditional cross with the extra hash mark. FPS definitely has Aztec-looking glyphs. Not sure you caught those in this video. They are more panel-like and there's even a Mayan-looking number glyph. The one at 28:18 is getting closer to looking Aztec-ish. Please don't give out exact locations on the internet. Please don't _step on_ glyphs even to get a good picture! Your whole animal entourage thing is awesome!!

Snakes are cold-blooded so they hide during hot times and hunt when it's cooler. Hot days they're out of sight... The idea that they thrive in heat is a total myth.
