Thank you so much for your video sir ! Im in early stages of dementia from to many head injuries. Now 40, my memory does not do well anymore. I LOVE my SL1 and get so tired of having to try amd read my manual. Had mine for 2 years, always shoot manual, but forgot what F-Stop was and had to re learn it. Anyways this is a LIFE SAVER ! PLEASE PLEASE dont deletw this video. i will now forever use this to continuously re educate myself ! ThanknYou Much ! This rekindled why i got so excited to buy it 2 years ago lol !! Christmas time all over again lol
Wow! This is what I needed! A step by step intro to my camera. It doesn't seem so overwhelming now. I'm sure I'll listen to this more than once! Thank you so much!
+Becky Fisher Glad I could help Becky - also watch ruclips.net/p/PLCUnGRSvb-aJNI7ovQ8dn7erQxpnlyLmZ they are not specific to your camera but still helpful.
Hello PhotoRec TV! I have this camera and I'm trying to restore to factory settings. Over the years I've pressed too many buttons and not sure how to fix everything. I found one instruction list on Google which said to press and hold the menu button for five seconds..... but nothing happened. I'm pretty flustered and I don't know where the instruction book is.
Thank you for this video man..! It is super informative. if anyone besides me within my friends want to own this camera then this is a must watch video since it saves you a heck of a lot of time reading your manual, LOL ! Thanks again for your time to explained us this.! Enjoy your SL1 everyone..!!!
The 50 f/1.8 is a prime lens, a fixed focal length lens. The 18-55 does zoom about 3x - you zoom by rotating the lens. I am not positive that I am answering your question - when you see the stuff so close up are you looking at the LCD on the back or through the viewfinder?
Photo rev-I can't even tell you how valuable this video has been to me, I have watched it so many time, (because I forgot) or I screwed something up, like it wouldn't take a photo, or a video, and that old reset button works miracles sometimes. Thank you so much for this. Subcribed the first time I watched it (looking at more of your clips, if I can remember where you said they were) It's hell to get old I am telling you..lol You are a lifesaver.....
Glad I could help. Certainly let me know if you have any questions. I am happy to answer. What lens did you get with it? And I have lots more videos that would be helpful to watch - general DSLR videos.
If everything is working it should just pickup from the external mic plugged in. Make sure the XLR mic you are using does not need to be powered - some do.
Thank You! I entered a 52 week challenge to learn to use my camera (better for someone else!) and the first challenge was to take a self portrait. So I read the manual and was immediately frustrated. How did they get to that area? I was totally lost. Did I say I had to have a friend show me how to turn the damn thing on (beyond the "on" switch)? And I'm not a stranger to taking photos - it is just my last Canon was easier. After watching this self-tmr section 5 or 8 times I finally figured it all out by watching your fingers and listening. Thank you I think I am now ready to go!
Thanks! This is one of the most helpful videos that I've seen. I bought a Sl1 a week ago. I will be taking a one day class on Feb 6th; also, I've registered for a class at a local college. Learning the camera's menu is a must! Your video is a great beginning. I will be following you and will register. Thanks again!
Excellent.......I am a Nikon shooter and just purchased this little beauty for my daily walk around however, I was kind of lost on the settings. This video is very informative and I did follow it in order to learn the menus and settings.
This was awesome. Just what I needed to see. This is my first DSLR camera, and I have a serious interest in photography. Thanks so much! Look forward on other topics. I would like to know if you have a video on night shooting, no flash, with little to no back light.
Whatever it is you are doing at 2:48 is not possible to do on my 100D in manual mode. It does work when i use aperture priority mode but then the HDR bracketing won`t work. Now why is that ?
I just bought this camera on eBay and it's arriving soon . I'm trying to learn about it since it's more complicated than an abridge camera. My old fuji bridge broke down .the dial mode got out of control . Cheaper to buy a new camera.
Great tutorial. Just got mine yesterday with 18-55 and 300 IS zoom. So far so good. I am taking sports shots of my son in competitive soccer. Any tips so I ensure I get everything just right? They will be indoor and outdoor. I was sold a Kenko Pro1 Digital Wideband Circular PL (W) filter for outdoors to decrease the rays of the sun. I am a novice so any comments are appreciated. Thanks again for the tutorial.
Great tour...thanks! When I am trying to take a picture of something in macro mode the lens goes in and out rapidly and does not settle on a clear focus. Is something wrong with the camera?
Hi, love your video! Very helpful, do you know how to connect the camera to wifi? I have the Canon app on my phone and it says I have to connect it to wifi.
Watch my video on depth of field/aperture Aperture & Depth of Field - your goal is to set an aperture that gives you a depth of field deep enough to have both objects in sharp focus. Also watch ruclips.net/video/mcXTNlnJDKY/видео.htmlm35s We talk about focusing on multiple points.
interesting and informative...question...I always shoot in AV mode however lately I've tried to use my flash and settings are as yours are BUT when I hit the shutter button....the flash 'hangs' for like4 sec. AFTER its goine off before you see the pic.....whats happening? thanks....canon SL1
I'm having a problem with the lcd display. It just doesn't appears when I'm using the visor's view. I don't know what happens, but it usually screens exposure setups for the scene. How can I turn on this function again? Thanks!
Thank you. Very well explained. I was hoping it could provide a brief explanation how to use the apperture, iso and exposure on P mode for beginners like me.
Great instructional video! Want to buy a Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8L II USM Lens to go with this camera. I know it will fit but am guessing with a full view lens the pictures will be slightly cropped. Can you very kindly advise me on this. Keep up the great work!!
thank you for the explanation!! I would like to know which ISO should I use to film an outdoor music video clip in daylight???? please halp me teacher!
Yes - it has been discontinued. Think of this like Car models. When a car company starts making a 2013 model they stop making the 2012. And The T4i is 2012 and the T5i is 2013. Camera is still excellent, just like the 2012 car models don't become obsolete.
Hello,I am new to this device and photography. I am. Looking for a feature called handheld night scenes?. I can't take night shots very well. Any help would be great
Thanks for the review! For the exposure compensation dials that you show at 2:35, mine are blacked out on the screen. I can adjust the AEB, but cannot adjust the +/-, even in Manual mode. What's with that? What can I do to enable this function? Anyone else have this issue?
also at auto lighting optimizer in the menu, the three options (low/standard/high) are blacked out on the screen until i uncheck Disable during man expo. in the video it seems that the optins are available even with Disable during man expo option activated.
I've had my camera for about 2 years and I am just getting the hang of it thanks to your very informative video. Thank you! Unfortunately, before I watched your video I changed some settings and now my pictures are not saving. Any advice on how to fix my little issue?
Good video. I was looking to find how to add 'copyright info' but my camera does not have as many items as yours on the menu (2 cameras - not 4, 2 arrows, 3 tools - not 4, no star). I was going to call Canon., but seeing how early it is, I decided to ck out RUclips.Gracias
All makes scene and thanks, I was just wondering because the other older models are still going. I thought there may have been a serious problem with the T4i. Thanks again
thanks Toby you have helped greatly in resetting my X7 (great little camera) i want to do some night shots (star & moon stuff) just wondering the best set up for it ? love this user guide video thanks again ..
Hi William, sorry for the slow reply. Take a look at this post for more info about setting up for night sky and star photos (moon too) here digital.photorecommendations.com/recs/2013/06/super-moon-super-crop/ and digital.photorecommendations.com/recs/2013/08/photographing-the-perseids-meteor-shower/
can i ask a question.. i use auto settings but when i take a shoot the picture is dark. the problem is when the flash is on the picture is dark but the flash is off the picture is fine.. what would i do ??? tnx
when in manual mode, trying to adjust the exposure comp./aeb settings, my camera will only adjust in brackets. the + and - are not lighted up, like your camera. also, the wheel does not affect the +, -.
does anyone else not have all of these menu options in 100D? Is it a firmware update that is needed? I don't even have the flash options to control external flash con camera.
Thanks Jeff - I have a couple of time lapse videos- most recent was made with a 70D but all the principles apply How To: Time Lapse with DSLR Camera - 70D

Brilliant........I've had th camera for over 10 years and never looked at the instructions. Cheers, this is superb.

Great video ! Simplistic ... Concise ...... Tells you what
you need to know and doesn't put you to sleep.
Thanks !
I just bought this camera today and have to use it in class tomorrow this was a great crash course in the menu! Thank you!
This is my second time watching this (once when I first got the camera and now to clear up some confusion). Still very useful. Thank you so much!

This helped me SOOO much! My SL1 is coming just in time for Christmas and I needed quick brush-up!
You do have this option in live view - you can basically pick a point anywhere on the screen.
Just found your channel, love how you help your viewers in your comments section. Great man, signed up, look forward to seeing your videos.

Well explained. Thankyou
This is the most informative video and clear to the point video . Thank You
You gave awesome detail about each feature without giving the "Steven King" version of it. Thanks for the help, can't wait to start shooting....

Thank you so much as a Teenager with my first camera this video has given me a great jumping off point!!

Me too! This video is so helpful and doesn't make you feel lost as a beginner.
This is great! Thanks for sharing your knowledge, I've been learning on my own but this does help even more.
Yep - sometimes they continue a line and sometimes they don't. They try to keep us as confused as possible :)
It looks the same as T4i and T5i - no realworld differences. All the jargon is about the focusing and it is decent at focusing.
This is amazing! THANK YOU!! I am crash coursing myself with this camera! I am so excited to start making much better videos now! yay!
Toby can u please tell more about i5 card. How it work? Thanks for the video.
Great tour...thanks! When I am trying to take a picture of something in macro mode the lens goes in and out rapidly and does not settle on a clear focus. Is something wrong with the camera?
Thank you! I agree with Becky Fisher- It doesn't seem so overwhelming now!
My question about the VF display in movie mode. Looks like a safety video set of brackets are permanently displayed. Any way to turn them off?
Hi, at 4:30, where is the K, kelvin, option to manually choose a number for white balance?
+Aurelie Nani That is not an option in this camera.

Hello PhotoRec Toby, i was wondering you could send me the link to your TFI thing when you can send photo's to your phone, computer and devices?
Does this film raw video as well as take raw images as when I shoot video format doesn't show CR2 for video but it shows CR2 for images.
Where can I find your video about I 5 cards for SL1 Cannon?
what "every day" lens do You recommend?
does anyone else not have all of these menu options in 100D? Is it a firmware update that is needed? I don't even have the flash options to control external flash con camera.
great videos! Beginners SL1 user guide?
Hi, thanks for the video. I found it quite helpful.
I should have watched this a while ago...some good information here!
please how can I connect my SL1 to my phone if it does not have the WiFi setting to connect to my phone?
