It was the cheapest costing paintscheme compared to the other four options. That's why it was picked and is a slap in the face to the KCS paintscheme IMO. The KCS paintscheme has class, the CPKC paintscheme does not. It looks like a backwards nod to CN. Maybe it should be nicknamed "CN 2.0". But if people like it, that's fine. Some of us don't and that's fine too. To each our own.
It's not Option 3 or 5 either. As expected they went with cheapskate Option 1 which is terrible. Looks like a Burnt Candyapple. And those three flags, could they be any smaller? From a distance it looks like a piece of paint chipped off. And the logo? Bad mix of colors, the yellow clashes with the white. No. Option 1, IMO, is terrible, a slap in the face to the KCS paintscheme which had class. Option 1 has no class, but was most likely voted in by the cheapskate shareholders. It's the cheapest costing paintscheme compared to the other options, but whatever makes the shareholders happy I guess. If other people like the Option 1 design that CPKC went with, that's fine. They have their statements about it and I have mine. Despite that, the video itself was good and it's great that good weather allowed for some cool shots.
Railroads don't get in any hurry to repaint their locomotives! We still have units on BNSF in warbonnet and "Grinstein" green and cream running around as we fast approach the 30th anniversary of BNSF!
I've become a huge fan of CPKC!!
The new locomotive is dope!!
This is the first video taken by a Railfan of this unit, and it’s amazing
Thanks so much!!
@@kansasstatealerting2874Personally, I'm not into CPKC and their new livery in general, but hearing a locomotive startup sounds amazing!
@@Rails-Of-Illinois It really is a cool sound!

So glad to see the first CPKC painted unit finally out in the open!
The new livery has grown on me.
Hi old timer
It's too bad that they removed the two F9 units that were with the train during the first part of its trip.
I agree. They would’ve displayed them in KC but there wasn’t enough room. Such a bummer.
@@kansasstatealerting2874 Ah! Are they rejoining the tour?
@@trainsplanesmore Sadly no
Does the paint scheme of this locomotive remind anyone of AWVR 767 form unstoppable
I can see it, it’s basically that but reversed.
The new paint scheme is no different from the original CP, except for the gold and black trim on the rear of the unit

@smokelesschoice165 had nothing to do with costs people voted that one had the most votes.
Looks pretty great! Can't wait to see this on the mainline along with some other units
Same!!
This is a great looking locomotive. The new paint is striking.
It still isn't an SD-40. 🚂

Nice one and my friend of mine Nick Eden he went to school with me in West Fork hes on the video
Great video K State! Well done!
Thank you!!!
Nice!!
Thank you!
@@kansasstatealerting2874 yw! :)
I hope these will be produced for HO and N scale train layouts , I would love to see these running on my layout
Scale trains is making these in HO scale. Not sure about N
@@steelcityrailfan4808 I already have mine pre ordered
I have a cpkc railroad spike with HCX on top
Nice 👍 love the colors
Me too!
I have only one question, is the locomotive a model or is it real?
It's real, why would it be a model?
Because I saw in other videos that it only moved through the Canadian Pacific steam locomotive, but still the design is great.
@@AdrianHernandez-l8r What do you mean by "Only moved through the steam engine"?
I mean the steam locomotive was the one that moved it
@@AdrianHernandez-l8r The diesel is only there as backup and PTC.
Awesome work and catch
Very Nice!
Thanks!!!!
Awesome!
Great clip 👍🚂😉
Very big, tremendously powerful, Gorgeous heavy metal machinery!!🤘🤘
CN is mostly black and CPKC is mostly red. Since CP was all red that is a good compromise. With BNSF and G&W that is enough orange liveries out there.
That's one shiny GEVO
It really is. I loved seeing how shiny everything was.
All CPKC locomotives are now banned at St. Louis.
😆
And it took only almost 2 years to repaint it 😒
Can't rush in to things .lol
@@tim19621 I know but it didn't take long to remodel the freight equipment
