Garret discovers a beautiful Piaggio APE in southern Spain

- As I was wandering around Grazalema Spain I discovered a Piaggio APE in the wild. These little trucks are sometimes referred to as tuk tuks and very few made their way to the United States.
The APE utilized many different engines over the years ranging from 50cc to 220cc vespa style engines to larger 400cc diesel engines.
I'm no APE expert but I believe this particular model to be a Piaggio APE 50 MIX from the mid to late 90s. Possibly a 50cc model.
Its absolutely thrilling to see one in such fantastic condition. Anyone can see it's well-used and well-loved.

You ever think about doin maxi size scooter stuff... or have you and I just forgot? I think to import to the USA, the vehicle has to be 25 yrs or older. If you're interested in those scooters maybe look into that rule in your state and think about importing one, that's how all those tiny kei cars (tiny Van's n such) from Japan are gettin here, or any jdm import for that matter.
We do a decent amount of Maxi scoot work in the shop but haven't made any videos on any of it yet... But that doesn't mean that we wont! As far as importing goes I'm just unsure of all the legal work that needs to be done to get the thing titled and registered once it gets here...

Yeah I hear ya, I've never imported myself, but I believe there are folks that will take care of pretty much all the paperwork and loop holes, just gotta find them. I've been gettin into those maxi's lately, burgman specifically, they seem so awesome and plush. Thanks for the reply Garrett, take it easy brother.
I have a p200 in boxes, but way back when I was riding it, I would go to the vespa shop (think called scooterville) in Anaheim Ca., and the guy called scotty chain (I think that prick was the owner) had... either it was a piaggio car or a vespa car, I cant remember now. It was really tiny and pretty cool. Anyways take it easy man, thanks again.

We know a guy who is importing them to the US now but they are fetching between 10-15k!
sad thing with the ape is the fuel consumption. Feels like it should be possible to make more economical.

They never were really sold in any volume in the states. They were totally legal for a little while but then the EPA regulations here in the states changed. Now they are legal to import again so long as they are over 25 years old so we're finally starting to seem them. But they are fetching $10-15k for a decent one!

Why? If that's as gutless and as slow as the scooter that thay have it's all junk any thing like gy6 sucks don't matter if it's from singsing ping pong Indonesian or just plain 49cc Chinese scooter suck so much that it would be better for someone to just walk and safer
