    Minarelli clones are usually pretty good. Crankshafts can easily take an 70cc "sport cylinder" . Only dont use cast iron chinese cylinders, I dont know what is wrong with those but they lock up way too easy (example Naraku 70cc in Europe). I have not have had the time to measure tolerances on the cheap cylinders but I would think that measurements are off or the piston quality is horrible. Also it is possible to swap minarelli clone internal parts into real minarelli block, from example Yamaha aerox. The biggest advantage would be that you can adapt disc brakes in the rear. Biggest upgrade would be to use liquid cooled cylinder on that, just buy watercooled cylinder, some radiator that fits and Aerox water pump, pretty easy stuff. For exhaust, really google and do your homework, chinese clones are pretty bad in performance part. Leovince, yasuni, Stage 6 would actually work, e.g. Technigas and analogues are horrible. Ofcourse, variator should be top quality eg malossi or polini, stage6 etc. The "adjustable rear shock" I would not trust that, good condition yamaha originals would be a lot better.

    Loved the video and the subject (racing scoots). You mentioned timing at one point before you got the motor running. Is there timing on a 2-stroke? I’m working on a spree that’s being stubborn and never considered timing.

    • @Scooter_911
      @Scooter_911  Год назад

      Yes indeed! 2-stroke engines definitely need to be timed just like a 4 stroke. They benefit differently from advancing and retarding timing but it's absolutely critical! It's definitely given me the run-around with diagnosing some older mopeds!

  • @jasonmorgan661

    Having trouble..... I am so scared to adjust my valves because I really depend on my scoot for work😞... I've had my 2015 Kymco super 8 150 for 4 years and it's at 8500 miles but the valves dont make to mich noise and start ups are no prob. I do suspect my CDI is taking a shit but anyhoot. If you would do a Kymco episode on some general maintenance that would be a big help to people that can't afford a mistake.🙏

    • @Scooter_911
      @Scooter_911  Год назад +4

      The first time you adjust your valves it is pretty unnerving but you'll find its really not too bad. Just take your time and be meticulous. The process for your valve adjustment is the exact same as shown in this video ruclips.net/video/QkkYjRdtQxg/видео.html but your intake clearance will be .003 and exhaust clearance will be .004.The more you do it the easier it gets!
      If you haven't adjusted your valves by 8500 miles I would definitely get after it. A little bit of maintenance can make the difference between a good running engine and a catastrophic failure and keep in mind tight valves (more common than loose valves) don't make any noise. A tight valve will reduce your engine's compression and create running issues or worse will burn out!

    Can I ask a quick question? I just changed the engine oil on my SYM Jet14 (air cooled) . When I unscrewed the dipstick there was a creamy light brown sludge covering it. I know generally this is water or coolant but I've also learned that it can simply be condensation forming at the highest point in the void above the oil. As I know it's not coolant , what's your thoughts, is condensation causing this issue very common? Many thanks to all.
