  • in this episode we show you a common misdiagnosis on an Audi Q7, Porsche cayenne & Volkswagen Touareg as they all run the same 3.0 V6 turbo diesel engine
    the injector copper washers fail, making you think it has a exhaust manifold leak.
    We also show how to replace the injectors

    I just replaced my left banks head cover and injector seals 2015 Q7 TDI Canada model. Great video btw. Odd that they removed the plates on the newer model/last year for North America. Its just a small bracket for each injector, For anyone wondering to remove injectors and make it a tad bit easier for them give each injector if you can a small turn left to right usually breaks the rust/carbon build up loose and I could then just hand pull them out easily. Took me maybe 1 hr to remove the valve cover on the side by myself first time doing it.

    I wonder if there is another material that would work better than copper . We may never know

    is there any symptom other than the exhaust leaking noise if this is left unfixed ?

      Injector damage, which could cause engine damage
      The injector is basically getting over heated and it could cause the injector to stick open, causing excess cylinder temps and melting a piston

      @@RealAutoSolutions Dont forget diesel in the oil. The exhaust gases eventually melt the middle gasket and go directly into the valve cover melting it near the bolt holes and dumping diesel exhaust gases into the oil in the head. No good.

    Didn't catch it in the vid but why were the injectors replaced?

    • @RealAutoSolutions
      @RealAutoSolutions  Год назад +2

      The copper washers that failed were the main reason the job was being done
      The car had done 240,000 KMs so due to have injectors replaced
      A general rule would be around 200-250k they should be replaced

      @fastbagel993 Год назад +1

      Ahh ok yeah that makes sense. I have re sealed many in the past around those km.
      Although have seen that the cylinders where the washer has blown out, seem more likely to have a failed injector shortly after from being able to move that tiny amount.

      @@fastbagel993 I agree we have done them in the past too, it depends on the customers funds and what they want to do with the car, if they're gonna keep it for a long time etc
      Sounds like you know what you're doing too 😀

    my cayenne diesel v6 has same issue. 2/6 injectors are leaking but the mechanic told me it's ok. Can i keep drive with them? my car was 310.000km

    • @RealAutoSolutions
      @RealAutoSolutions  Год назад

      No it is not ok, if you were wanting to reuse the injectors it will be causing alot of damage.
      At 310k they probably need to be replaced anyway, I would recommend sorting it
