I believe that blockchain is not good for currency since the nature of that technology is distributed. Since it is distributed it will be foolish to standardize it which is needed to provide security and as required by central banks. In short central banks need an infrastructure to regulate the currency and blockchain is not the right technology for that. Regulating the blockchain on the other hand defeats its very purpose. There should be a new technology that evolve that will fit the cryptocurrency space and its not blockchain. That's the roadblock for now. The cryptocurrency usage in games is a nice use case but the underlying technology won't get you there. That's why for now its not really smart to get into cryptocurrency, just a waste of time.
