- Samerson Orias was earning about 4,000 pesos a month (about $80, a little less than half the national minimum wage in the Philippines) making takoyaki-Japanese octopus balls. His friend told him he and others were pocketing up to $600 a month playing Axie Infinity, a game fueled by cryptocurrency and NFTs.
Orias, now 26, desperately needed an escape hatch from his financial woes: his mother had had a stroke and required medication, and electricity and grocery bills were stacking up. So he plunged into Axie, doing battle with cartoon monsters for hours deep into the night.

The sad thing Is how predictable this was. This game was marketed as a way to make easy money, but you “make money” in Axie by selling tokens and Axies you earn in the game to other players. Every dollar earned by one person is a dollar lost by another. Eventually, there was nobody left to buy, and the player base was left with worthless digital tokens.
thats not the problem, the problem is just no one plays this game anymore you need to spend money to be able to play..and players are just selling selling selling no ones buying or spending anymore meaning low demand with high supply meaning price decrease

Crypto is such a game changer of the entire digital world but alas, the inevitability of capitalism hides the real uses of how crypto should be applied. People always just look to finding out how to make theirselves more fast money instead of improving on the transparency, decentralization, and security of crypto.

True, its really sad the game was shilled to no end during the height of the pandemic 2020 tons of social media influencers, so called financial gurus and streamers urging players to join and invest.
Fast forward to today where Axie has become the butt of jokes all those who shilled for it has gone radio silent trying to avoid the massive hate coming their way due to only they have earned and the majority of their viewers/community lost their hard earned money all those effort, sweat, blood and tears gone.

Yeah. This game give us more depression and anxiety instead of enjoyment. Yeah they having their upcoming convention event, which is AXIE CON! They are just more hyping than giving update about their progress. Worst of all, all the money are just using for party, parties and more PARTIES! They even bulid their Sky Mavis HQ and they didn't listen to the community completely. Tsk..... That's Ponzi Scheme already.
If their philosophy is to discard the feedbacks and the feelings of the community and investors, then i have choose the wrong game after all. Invest other games that the developers listens and fully understands the feedback of the community.
I'm one of the Former Manager of our family. We quit the game since April after the Land Update.

Axie never promised anything like that but the content creators. Axie should just be a game. I feel bad for people who were advertised the wrong way. I blame the greedy content creators who didn't care about their community and who exaggerated the money-making potential of the game. I played the game before the hype and I'm still bullish about Axie Infinity. I guess I'm lucky that I follow and watch the right people, and that I had knowledge about the crypto space because I researched. They never advertised the game as a way to make millions because they never did. When the game slowly transitioned into just a game and removed the SLP in the adventure, people who were promised by these content creators started making noise because of something they didn't understand and so on. now the game is rebuilding, it's at its best but please don't start playing the game because you want to quit your job and make millions, very wrong mentality.
THis is why you need to play the game and learn how to short the crypto industry just in case it collapses . ..

Trash mechanics especially breeding, never played it as well just see people play it. If the breeding cost was not stagnant the decline of value shoudve been slower. As it reached 1m axies the breeding frenzy rapidly increased and there are so much more supply of axie than people buying it. It was a craze when it was below 1m and axies peaked 100k+ php but when i knew axie for the first time it was only 10k and some even bought for 500php or lower each when i researched about the game

Never played this game. But can say this game was profitable in early 2022 when SLP token was worth $0.2.
Now it is trading at $0.0027 levels and dropped and lost almost %99.5 of it's value since last year.
What happened to us? We used to be a strong and brave country. We settled and rely on stupid things like NFT’s, or foreign work now. Sure, not everyone was made rich by this game, but please also interview those that earned so much more money than they would have by working a normal job, id say it changed their world. False. I lived with a group of scholarship managers for almost a year, and the entire pitch of theirs - and other guilds- was the idea that they were lifting people out of poverty. They literally reiterated this countless times, and it was all over the internet. Please stop lying. Additionally, if they wanted to create 'huge opportunity' there's about a million better ways to do it. Invest the money in real scholarship programs so teenagers have some kind of future through learning something with real with real world applications that can help the society around them. Invest in microfinancing loans to help small businesses in economically exploited countries. There are literally about a million better ways to give opportunities to people. Teach a man to fish and he will be fed for life, teach a man to play axie and he will be reliant and giving a huge portion of his earnings to a capitalist pig crypto bro for life, with little time to invest towards anything else.
