It's a grueling demanding sport but it's also super fun. I used to play for NJ and went with Team USA to Athens 2004 where we took Bronze that games. I miss it but my body can't take it anymore. There is probably a rec team or a state team club not far from you if you want to get involved.
I played goalball back in the early 2000's for my state. Its a fun game. The blindfolds are blacked out so no one can see (so everyone has no eye sight to make it far). And the ball weighs about 8-10 pounds, it has holes so you can hear the bells jingling while the ball rolls and or bounces towards you.
@@matt8418 I heard an announcer call high ball or something to disqualify a goal. I was hoping this video would actually explain the rules, but it doesn't
It looks really interesting, I going to give it a watch. My favourite para-olypmic sport is wheelchair rugby aka Murderball. Its got to be one of the most demanding sports I've ever watched. I recommend it to everyone!
This is not sport. This is a tournament of Superhuman with insane instinct and body sense. No normal human can detect ball without sight and only relies on sound of ball and body sense. These athletes are truly not human at all.
your local club will definitely let you play even if fully sighted, you do have to have an impairment to be on the National Team, but can absolutely play for fun in Rec leagues and even with State Squads
Since this game is played entirely by feel and sound; the music is really annoying and counter productive. What does the ball sound like? Or is the ball playing royalty free music and thats how you find it?
I have a great idea for a new sport: asskick-ball, it's a combination of MMA and basketball, the basket is a garbage dumpster and the objective is to beat the snot out of your opponent and to body slam and dunk them into the dumpster and if you can toss your opponent three feet away from the dumpster, that's a 3-pointer. Good times 🤜✊👊🤛🥋🥊⛹️🏀🤾
Well technically anyone can play but since this is the Paralympics they are blind/almost blind but the almost blind have an advantage over the completely blind so they wear black out goggles as well just to even the playing field
We always level the field in sports. Same uniforms, same equipment, same starting point. That way natural talent, genetic advantage, greater dedication to training, and hard won skills are what shine through. Level the sight disadvantage and only the athleticism and playing skill are relied on.
Because then blind people won’t be able compete at all, it would be completely sighted people. Blind people would like to be able to compete at some sports
Lord, I pray that whosoever reads this encounters your love and presence. If anything is wrong with their body, Holy Spirit I ask you to heal them. Headaches, tumors, broken legs/arms, back problems, blind eyes, be healed now in Jesus name. Holy Spirit fill them, deliver them, and heal them.
@@johncharlesalvaro9073 Yup, you'd have to be schizophrenic to take the Bible literally and these people totally take it literally. Knowing nothing of parable, allegory, metaphor, analogy, storytelling, mythology, etc.
One of the only two Paralympic sports that has no Olympic equivalent. I tuned in over their RUclips streams and got hooked!
What's the other
@@TryItWithRanch Apparently there are 4: Goalball, boccia, bench press, and wheelchair rugby.
@@alexyoung8353 thank you, gonna check those out too!
Tell me I’m not the only one who wants to play! 🤩
I’ve played it, it’s less fun than it looks but definitely something to try out once in your life!

That looks so fun. It’s like handball meets bowling.
This looks more entertaining than the regular Olympics
It looks much better than curling. Thats for sure.
absolutely.
It’s not
Thanks for the explanation. I saw this on tv the other day and could not stop watching.
This pretty awesome. NBC needs to put this on primetime.
Thats awesome, I did not know this was a thing... these folks are amazing!
It's amazing what these athletes can do without sight 🤯 respect 💚
Very cool. The net should make a distinctive noise too so both sides can tell it went in.
What an amazing sport. I would have loved this when I was younger!
Why do we need music? Iwanted to see the rhythm of the players combined with the sounds of the balls. Jamie Briton, drummer
.
Jimi Hendrix, guitar
SpongeBob SquarePants, fry cook
This looks pretty cool. I wonder if BulletBall will ever make it as an Olympic sport.
They found a way to make bowling fun
I watch it and love it

Wow, the athleticism 👏
very cool. I don't follow sports in general but this looks interesting to watch. Seems like fun.
Fantastic piece. Descriptive video could be helpful
This looks honestly fun af

I need this to be a thing for sighted people because I'm in!!
You mean soccer
your local club will definitely let you play even if fully sighted, you do have to have an impairment to be on the National Team, but can absolutely play for fun in Rec leagues and even with State Squads
This would be better without the annoying music. I'd like a chance to hear what goalball sounds like.
I'm telling my kids this is soccer.
Great vid
Great video 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Amazing!!! Support sports all hard working atheles!! Against wars!!
Do I need to be visually impared to play? Looks like fun
I think I would enjoy using the Brazilian special technique
Now all it needs is an anime
Best comment lol. I saw kabaddi the anime and never heard of the sport until I saw the anime lol. Goalball could be a good anime sport.
what a cool sport!
Looks fun af! I wanna play :)
More interesting that the regular Olympics.
That does look pretty fun
I have been watching it's amazing.
Awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂
Looks like fun
I was walltching this earlier (I know, ironic!).
Hey it’s Daryl
Brazilian special sounds like a food platter
Looks like fun, I wonder if there are leagues for paraplegics. I’d be in 😉

The white lines on the court are taped too.
Whell, this time judge wasn't blinde😯
Oh no they get called that quite often as in any other sport :). lol watch Men's USA vs. Brasil on the first day. It was pretty bad. lol
awesome
Imagine if this is played by f****** earthbenders
This is hilarious. Looks like a lot of fun.
Thanks so much for the obnoxious music so we can't hear the ball and court sounds.
I support it but you're tripping if you think I'd watch this over a basketball game
I did watch and was underwhelmed! Dodgeball for the visually impaired! I’m a big Paralympic fan but not for this sport!
i thought this was pretty cool myself, what didnt you like about it Mitch?
3x4 vertical??? WTF???
Reverse dodge ball
While I find it awesome, if they all need to have blindfolds anyways, what's the point of them being blind in the first place
It's like basketball with wheelchairs requiring people with difficulties in the legs, but giving a wheelchair to everyone anyways
Well technically anyone can play but since this is the Paralympics they are blind/almost blind but the almost blind have an advantage over the completely blind so they wear black out goggles as well just to even the playing field
This is freaking hilarious are they blind?!? Lmao 🤣
Whatever floats their boats but looks like a spin on dodgeball to me..... If it makes them feel normal, have at it!
One girl is wearing here cleats
"C'mon! How did you miss that? What are you, blind!?!.. oh wait"
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏🌟🌟🌟🌟🔥🔥🔥👏
'Goalball'? Couldn't come up with a more attention grabbing name? Like throwball? Or blindfoldball? 6playerball?
Jesus are they blind?😎
Some athletes in goalball have limited vision and other are completely blind.
"I don't know but whereas I was once blind, now I can see"

@@bibianaguadalupeislasherre9880 They must get... blindsided a lot in this sport 👍
Yes
Why level the field? Like if an athlete has some genetic mutation that helps them win in olympics what they gonna do?
