In this video I give you a quick tip on how to successfully agline the grout lines in the corner of a wall when installing any type of tile on a diagonal. This is a simple little trick that will make the job go faster and make it much easier to install tile on a 45 Degree angle.
All tile installed by Sal DiBlasi, Elite-tile Company, in the Boston North Shore area. This video contains affiliate links, which means I will receive a small commission if you click on the product link.

Finding your page has been invaluable. Much appreciated.
Awesome, thank you!
Nothing better than an early Saturday morning...except maybe some tile wizardry to go with it.
Thanks for watching my video. 👍🙂
I'm ready to tile a small tub surround in my rental.. I botched a couple DIT tile projects a decade ago but I'm going to try again. Thanks for the tip!
Genius Sal!! Meticulous work gained by years of experience. Thank you for sharing.
Glad you enjoyed it
I really dig your artistry and willingness to ensure there's knowledge transfer with your craft.
A Master teaches. Thanks.
I appreciate that!
Hi Sal, l look forward to your weekly posts. I have learnt a lot from them and now plan to tile my own bathroom.
Be safe Mister. Hey from UK.
Awesome! Thank you!
Great job 👏
Another great tip I'll keep in my pocket for doing my bathroom walls (6"x24" pieces, sideways herringbone)! My floor is almost done and I only made a few mistakes. 😁 First time doing any tile work. Your videos have been everything!
Thanks, glad it helped
Sal , I learned how to do herringbone watching your videos
You’re a Maestro
God bless

Great tip. Never seen the foam trick.
Glad it was helpful!
You, Sir, are a gentleman, a scholar, and a credit to your profession! Thank you!
Wow, thanks!
Very nice
Thanks
Yes yes yes 🙌
Nice hack 👌 might try it next time.
😊👍
@Lost Soul Well I am glad you saw my video. Only 819 videos left to watch😁
I still prefer the overlap, just made from two separate pieces, but I REALLY hate when people don't overlap, and just leave a huge void in the corner!
The only issue people might encounter with the foam is: I bet sometimes the sqare foam corner protrudes past the caulking surface if the caulking is tooled too deep? (Or if you're working with larger spacing?)
great job Sal what kind of material do you use to install Subway tile
Genio sal
😊👍
A Master
At first I thought there was an upload error as I hardly ever see videos this short. But, still very enjoyable to watch Bud. Skillz that pay da billz!! Hoping all is well Bud, Dirty Jersey out!!
This was a part of another video I uploaded, but thought it would make a good quick tip type video.
@@SalDiBlasi Yup, I remember. Enjoyed every min. of that one too. Hoping all is well Bud, Dirty Jersey out!!
thans for this tip. so does that mean when you get to the wall, you cut the tile 'short' by the thickness of the tile and the little strip so that it matches perfectly?
spacer trick is awesome! Thanks. Should I start in the corner or the find the center of the stove/hood and work my way to the corner?
Whatever works for you.
Are you cutting the stater wall tiles short in the corner for the foam spacer?
When i get one of these type of jobs Sal i will give them your name...lol 👋
😊👍
nice
😊👍
Brilliant tip Sal , you are a amazing tiler ... ireland 👏👏
Glad you enjoyed it!
How do you remove it again after it has cured so you can add the code mandated flexible joint for the corner?
If house moves from cold, settling or anything that corner is going to crack with just grout in there. Even worse with a solid piece of tile.
Watch it again, you are overthinking it.
Sal! I made my shower pan mortar bed but didn’t have enough mortar, it has dried now, but can I mix up some more mortar and pack it on top of the existing bed? Max depth needed in some areas is 1/2” .... thanks for your help
Use thinset to bond the two.
@@SalDiBlasi thanks Sal
Sal, if you extended just one wall of tile behind the other and cut the mating wall tile the same size as in your example, wouldn't the tile edges still match up as long as your not matching to the end of the tile that is going into the corner, but instead a tile thickness away?
Ok I think I see why, is because the mating wall tiles you are using from the cut on the other walls tile.
What kind of thin set will you recommend to use for cement board on walls to install tile , thanks
I like custom pro lite. Light weight, strong and sticky
Wery nice though
Sal is the best tiler in the United States. I wish he lived in Atlanta so I could hire him.
You have that other guy that claims to be all knowing.
Star of the day who could it be... wow and that is also a blast from the past on tv in the north east Sal... community additions tv show!
Without that foam... would the joints open up more as you go up? Cheers Sal top man
Foam is just to help you position tile and keep it aligned.
Could you add a short video or view of your placing the tile in the corner from your view, please? I couldn’t quite see how you place the tile in the corner. Thank you in advance.

@@SalDiBlasi thaaasaaank yooooou, I could see it. You’re the best!
So no corner expansion space?
What happenig with the grout joints? good tip but the grout joints are 0mm to 3mm!?!
Can you send me a link for where to buy the corner foam?
Custom cut from some kerdi board.
Hey Sal, I'm not a tile guy so please don't be offended, but I wanted to know. When the two tiles meet in the corner how come you don't continue the line straight with the herringbone? Why does it look crooked? Is it not possible to do that or is it better for the herringbone?
But the project looks great👌!
It is a corner, it has to turn.
@@SalDiBlasi sure I get it. But for the purposes of the question, is it possible to make lines look straight if you wanted it to? Or is it always going to turn out crooked when doing herringbone?
Just want to know before I decide to install this was way?
@@icheko2498 This might help ruclips.net/video/gO6R4kupDSQ/видео.html

Beards lookin good sal
thanks
do you have a video on hexagon installed in a shower
ruclips.net/video/2nZ8BTBQpTE/видео.html
Can I go work with you?
😊👍
U need ur wall to be a 100%% leveled
If not it's impossible to make perfect
You as an installer make this happen. Clean prep work
I have to say I don’t understand this at all. In my opinion it isn’t very clear. But I’m not a pro so that could be why.
Mate thats so wrong as you went through the corner , looks shit , if you do 4 walls how are you going to match them ? Most of your mastic finish in the bath tube , you are the one of those who is doing it easy way for tiler bot for good look mate
You make so many assumptions. Check out my channel then you can come back and tell me again how I don't have a clue. I can wait. By the way mastic is not used in a wet area.
