Haltech have just released the Swiss Army Knife of ECUs and they reckon it does all of the above! At this year's Performance Racing Industry show we got a first hand run down on the new device from industry genius Andy Wyatt, who you might recognise from the Adaptronic ECU brand as well.

I like how you really get in and get the answer your looking for. Lot of interviews at these shows I feel like sometimes they dance around a question and the interviewer just takes it rather than getting the direct answer he was looking for

Thank you Andre for taking on BOTH of my questions with HEAT and Electrical NOISE! This is going to be one HOT box! Hopefully Haltech does a bit more with thermals/heatsinks to handle all of this in that footprint. 200A of PDM that has PWM + a 70c average temp WiFi Module + ECU. Would be great to see Haltech release a video of this sitting in the sun on full load with some FLIR pictures. Great interview, Andre.

I’m literally switch to haltech because now I know Andy is involved. He is literally like the quiet samurai who can slay people without effort. On of the greatest tuners. I know him from adaptronic which was an amazing product. If Andy is involve in haltech I’m putting the in my Supra and future projects. Thank Andy!!… and haltech
Being able to see the individual cylinder power events in the built in oscilloscope is insane! 😳🤯
For anybody complaining about the Elite Series and all their boxes, I found those boxes to be very beneficial. Remote locating the boxes near the sensors and connecting to the can bus. If you got sensors strewn all over the vehicle from front to back, you have voltage loss and interruption from inductance. Those issues are eliminated with the can bus. Haltech knew what they were doing. The people that complain about this design are usually plug-and-play folks.

Wow, excited to get my hands on that! hopefully they sell a trimmed down version, less injectors with the PDM.
Yeah, would still like some of the other functionality, and the room to grow is nice, but it's quite a bit for a 4 cyl or rotary application, lol.
with just 4 x 25A outputs, I can see it requiring secondary PDM on many builds

@@sparky173j 4x25A goes by really fast, each fuel pump needs own, each fan needs own, coils need 5A output each so usually they take one common, injectors are usually 1.5A per injector so for V8 prepare that could mean 2x8A outputs. It adds up fast if you start going it through. Keeping stock chassis electronics and just powering up engine and fuel, sure.
As Andy says in the interview, fuel pumps, cooling fans etc draw too much power (>25A) so you would still use a separate relay for those items

Building an 06 G35 with a 2JZ VVTi. It will be attending the Tuner Saloon in Germany. Considering the Haltech 2500 Elite. Bells and whistles; what would you all suggest?

If the ECU was a virtual node.. pretty secured from most. You could have switching virtual nodes.. Hard too log that data!! 🤓😎🤜🏼🤛🏼🇦🇺🍀🍀🍀

Sounds like a fantastic product, full of features I'd like to explore and exploit! However my budget is insufficient for Haltech. I'm limited to a $500 PDM and HP tuners.

What's the difference between megabits and megabytes? One megabyte is equal to eight megabits, but the terms are used in specific ways: Megabits per second (mbps) are generally used to describe the speed of an Internet connection, whereas megabytes (MB) usually refer to the size of a file or storage space.
I work in Tech and you'd be absolutely amazed at the amount of people who don't even know this basic piece of info.
Yes, Andy is referencing USB2 limit of 480Mbits/s or 60MBytes/s. Gigabit ethernet (1000 Mbits/sec) is 125MBytes/sec, Fast Ethernet 100Mbits/s or 12.5MBytes/sec. This is normally the difference in the IT world between how the storage people describe things (bytes) and how the network people describe things (bits). :)
You have it right, I understand it goes right back to BAUD rates - been a VERY long time, but, IIRC, the BAUD speed was how many data bits/sec were transmitted the binary 0 and 1 states - because there was a lot of other data, like start, end, frame, buffer overheads, the actual number of bytes/ sec was rather less than the 1/8 bit rate one might expect. Back then they also used nibbles (2 bits) and words (4 bits) but I've been out of it for a long time, so don't know if those terms are even used nowadays.
It used to be that kilobytes, megabytes, gigabytes, etc, were true powers of two - like 1024 bytes for a kilobyte, but I understand they are now nominally 10^3, 10^6, 10^9, etc, instead.

Sorry if it's been covered, but with the data capture/logging, have Haltech considered some form of memory chip/stick that, on rapid pit stops, can be pulled out for further analysis and another slipped in? Might not be needed with live telemetry, though, if they have the bandwidth.
Next story on that quad turbo V12 LS also on that stand?

Just wondering when is Haltech going to make a smarter ecu? One that can control V8 Duramax and Allison1000 automatic transmission ,all in one. A ecu to control any late model turbo diesel engine.

1000min is 16hrs isnt it. but thats on 100 channels at 1000hz. Where as most people will run less than 10 channels at 100hz.

Those things are extraordinarily hard to control properly at the fully closed position. If you accidentally close it too hard, it gets so stuck that it cannot unstick itself.
With the pdm module being internal, could there be issues with emf induced into the higher impedance sensor etc wires at the ecu output? Seems like using pwm internally and having the high current output so close to the other ecu wires...
Is this unit capable of flex fuel sensing without an external module?
Do you mean does fuel run through the unit to sense ethanol content?
@@theskidfactory no obviously you'd still need the pipe that the fuel runs through. I thought the old ecu's needed a separate box similar to the external wideband box
I see now the box is built into the pipe, so I assume it just takes the output as normal

No.... Who modifies Camry's? Not to make fun or disrespect, I do know of a Canadian who built a twin turbo Camry that made at least 500whp to the front wheels. That said there is no demand for a PNP unit and no performance application is built around that platform. It's not terribly difficult to wire one up yourself.
The ecu would be worth more than the car... why would you want to modify a camry it's a family car?

Yeah, it's stupid - as one of my great uncles, who was for the time very well off, would say - "I need to know what to make the cheque out for.".
More seriously, though, the people that would be interested in the product are more likely to be concerned about how soon they can get it (or them, as a spare or two will often be bought at the same time), rather than how much it will cost.

Haltech two years ago, no inbuilt wideband controller in the elite because if it pops it will blow the ecu, haltech this year hears a ecu with inbuilt wideband 🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️😅😅😅

@The Generalists Garage I think your way over elite with rem built in is $4000 a pdm is about $2000 and a dual wideband if say $7-800 so you're looking about $7000aud roughly which is like $5000usd so not a bad price.

They have a direct injection ECU coming out and have always had internal lambda controllers, low impedance injector drivers, and passive coil drivers built directly into the ECU. And their new PMU uses autosports connectors and is amazingly compact.
