    I'm glad this came out in time as I was about to go Holley for the LS1 4l60e in an LN106 Hilux which has been running trouble free with the factory Delco ECU, problem is I live 200k from a tuner and was looking at a mafless wide band setup which is native to the Nexus, I was watching Joe Simpson and he explained that the Holley comes with a wizard to get you going but it will not self tune and will need a tuner to clean it up, I like the look of the Nexus 3 as I have found it comes with the standard LS1 4l60 tune from a VY Commodore which is what I have got and that I can de-pin the Delco ECU and the pins will go straight into the Nexus connector and use the GM Factory engine transmission loom, The other thing is I can have a trigger from the 4x4 switch into the Nexus to switch to another tune map to change shift to manul mode with paddles setup on the wheel and control the lockup for direct drive, The other thing is the Nexus 3 is cheaper than the Holley and I'm sure that the support from Haltech being local will be much easier as well.

  • @LujinCustom
    @LujinCustom Год назад +3

    Something I’ve been tossing around, is multiple exhaust thermocouples in the manifold.
    The purpose, is to control individual cylinder AFR with combustion heat signatures instead of multiple wideband o2s in the flame front.
    That way you can optimize each cylinder.

    • @HomeSkillet832

      why do that instead of having one wideband per cylinder?

    • @LujinCustom
      @LujinCustom 11 месяцев назад +2

      @@NathanaelNaused it was my understanding that you don’t want them in or too close to the flame front.
      Also, I don’t think the wideband can tell you exhaust temps.
      Knowing which cylinder or bank of cylinders is running hotter than the rest is valuable info
      One more thing. Thermocouples can be a lot smaller and take up less space than a header or turbo manifold full of o2 sensors.

    • @jgizzy
      @jgizzy 7 месяцев назад

      @@LujinCustom I suspect they don't do this because the thermocouples don't react/read as quickly as a wideband sensor, being entirely too slow to be of any real use during high stress operations as an on-the-fly tuning monitor.

    That was a very informative presentation - I often see people asking about how many channels different brands' ECUs can handle and with that much flexibility for adding multiple PDMs and key-pads* there should be enough for just about anybody.
    Next video could be setting up the display options - Haltech and off-brand, and how many can be used at a time? Some may prefer a main panel in front of the driver with the basics like speedo', tach', oil pressure, fuel, water temp', etc in an "analogue" looking display as the default, with a secondary, central panel displaying more detailed info' on the various functions being controlled by the ECU/PDM like HVAC settings, pumps, fans, other temp's, etc. Perhaps a third in front of a ca-driver?
    *compatability for different pad and/or wheel mounted controls, especially proportional or multiple position switchgear - such as for brake and/or engine management settings for different condtions?

    I’m looking for advice on where to find more information on these computers in specific applications. I have an 05 Mazda rx8 I am going to put a LS engine into. My understanding is that there is an emulator for the rx8 with Haltech that will allow me to take out my rx8 pcm, have the Haltech installed in its place on the can bus. Hoping to retain all factory functions (such as ABS and dynamic steering, cluster operations speedo, tacho), but use the inputs from these factory components to be able to setup traction control through the Haltech. Also looking for more information on the customization of output controls with the Haltech - can I program an output for something like a reverse lockout solenoid (have it only apply when vehicle speed is under a certain value, and brake/clutch pedal depressed?)

    Hi Scotty and team! I'm currently building out a NA 20B FC. I plan on using the Nexus R3 and curious how I would manage my high amp outputs.
    1 for IGN1-a coils
    1 for fuel injectors
    1 for fuel pump

    My plan is to do a Renesis swap into a 2016 or 2017 ND Miata. My engine will have a custom intake setup for semi PP so I will have to run an aftermarket ecu. I want as much of the factory gauge cluster to work with A/C, power steering, and cruise if possible. I've already done my own 20b swap into my 94 FD back in 2009 with an older E11V2 and have those above convinces but the modern electrical with obd2 and canbus are giving me a headach in trying to figure out. Will any of these ecus work to get everyting in an ND miata or will I have to use some sort of canbus interface?
