Nearly as bad as Cate thinking she was swimming with Aligators in Australia. I've met actor types in Australia that think their own cities suburbs are some kind of wild badlands. If you get hurt or attacked by a creature in Australia, it will usually be a Magpie, not spiders or snakes.
That's Lady Glenconner. The first volume of her autobiography is "Lady in Waiting: My Extraordinary Life in the Shadow of the Crown", the second volume is "Whatever Next: Lessons from an Unexpected Life". I'm not sure which one she's speaking about here.
"I have a stuffed giraffe in my house...." not a sentence I've ever encountered before. But, it beggars the question - how bloody big is his house and how rich is he????
As a child, I didn't wear flip flops... My family was so poor that we couldn't afford flip flops. We walked around barefoot... no shoes. And funnel web spiders are not in the ceilings or the rafters. Those are in the garden or under the house... they create a small tunnel for bugs to crawl into and weave a web in the tunnel.
Only things Australians are scared of are swooping magpies, Collingwood supporters, steering wheels on 40 C degree days (and all leather upholstery that is black), metal slides in play grounds on a hot day, drop bears, and American tourists. Otherwise it’s all hunky dory mate!
I remember getting into my car (it was an XW Falcon) in Perth in summer with an old style plastic steering wheel and not being able to touch it for at least 10 minutes. I had a Hessian car seat cover so at least I could sit on the bench seat. In the end I used to put an old sheet across the outside,of the front window with the ends tucked into the front doors.
It's actually been 6 months since Graham's show was last on, he'll be back at the end of September on the 27th, what happened was he cut his weeks back from 30 to 20 cause he's now married and is in his 60's (his words, not mine).
@@suzawilo that might have also been it, I remember Jack Whitehall hosting his talk show back in 2019. I’m not sure if that started to affect his chat show duties or not.
You might be right, Ute. As far as I know, alligators are native only to China where they are rare, and the S.E. United States, where they are common. I've seen other similar comments here that agree.
I think you're confusing them with trapdoor spiders. Funnel webs live in funnel shaped webs, and they aren't always below ground. They lurk in dark places, behind/below bits of wood in the yard or in corners, tree bark or in ferns etc but have been known to hide in shoes and gardening gloves, so you do have to bang them before you put them on if you live in a spidery area. They aren't really as deadly as people make out. It's snakes you need to be more worried about, crocodiles in the northern states, jelly fish, blue ringed octopus, sharks and a few other things. Magpies are ok. We have a resident pair living around our house. They know us and don't attack when they are nesting. They even bring their yearly baby to show it off when it's grown big enough. Greg is confident and will walk into the garage uninvited, but Mrs Greg and baby Greg are a bit more hesitant.

I'd never had trouble with injections all my life, until a few years ago when I had an infected tooth. One of those incredibly painful ones. I was out in a rural area and found a small rural hospital and the Dr was going to give me an antibiotic injection. He asked me if I'd ever had any problems with injections and I assured him that I never had. But, he got me to drop my trousers and to lay across the bed in the room. All fine until I stood up and the room started to spin. Had never happened before and has never happened since. I'm certain that the Dr caused my fainting spell by making me get into a position in case I did fall. I also have 3 monthly blood tests and have had 8 Covid and flu shots in the last few years.
