Superb video that mate. Up close and colourful. Haven't flown since 2008 so never been on one of these brilliant machines. Though I did fly on one of the first 747s in early 70s! Would love to emulate a trip to SF on one of these as I did back in 81 flying to SF on a Transamerica 747. Times running out though lol. Thanks for providing some inspiration to an old sea dog on a September afternoon 👍

Thank you for sharing your story with us Glen. I can only imagine what it was like to fly in a 747 in the early 70s it must have been a super exciting experience since those were the early days when the 747 just went into service. The 747 is now considered a classic aircraft for my generation of plane lovers. I flew one when I was a kid but can barely remember what it was like. Now I can only dream of your 747 flight. Glen there is no better time than now I really hope you get to fly on an A380 soon to emulate your previous flights. Keep us posted ❤️

With interest rates on an new high home prices are starting to level as well.

@sfoaviation ya, it was a 9 hour flight and 1.5 meals. It all happened by accident for us as we were originally booked to fly United Dublin to New York and down to Fort Lauderdale in premium plus but United changed the aircraft cos their 777 wasn't back in the air yet so our travel agent switched us to Dublin to Miami via Heathrow and just happened to get us business class for what we originally paid. @@sfoaviation Thanks for asking! London was fun, saw the sights and museums. Even drove out to the English countryside. Weather was mild, especially since we've had a very hot summer here in DFW. It was a nice escape from the heat.
One thing I found interesting: The DFW flight outbound is roughly 1 hour shorter than the SFO flight outbound, yet we only got served 1.5 meals (full dinner like yours + breakfast was just an egg sandwich and a cup of fruit). We didn't get a full breakfast like your video.
On my flight back to DFW, we got served a full lunch, but just a chicken and leek pie before landing. Was expecting more on the latter meal since it was a 10-hour flight.
Sat on the upper deck on both flights, was worth the extra price as it was really quiet.

I'm so jealous you got to drive out to the English countryside, I've always wanted to do that but I'm afraid of driving on the wrongside of the road. You might want to check on your itinerary it show the number of meals that is included in your flight. I hope this didn't cause too much discomfort on your travel. Yes flying on the upper deck is really fun. I got to try lower deck and had to live with two other strangers on my way back it was ok but I prefered the upper deck with just you and one stranger.

Driving in the UK isn't too bad, takes some time to get used to, but still much better than trying to drive in Houston. If you can drive in Houston, you'll be just fine.
On the outbound, didn't get the 2-seater to myself, but on my way back, I did. Not many airlines these days have 2-4-2 seating in long-haul economy anymore.

On my return trip video which is coming soon there is a clip of an A380 taking off from London to Dallas your area. Its getting harder to find 2-4-2 set up with all these newer wide body aircrafts. I went on a British airways A380 from DFW to Heathrow last week. If a seven-hour departure delay did not occur, the flight would had been perfect as the breakfast meal service had to be cancelled due to the food being out too long, the departure would had been during daylight when my camera would have captured the window view better during pushback and part of the taxi, and the window shades wouldn’t had to be lowered until cruising altitude, and I was too stressed out on trying to make it to my connecting flight on time. On the bright side, I had the entire row to myself though for that 8.5 hour flight.

I’ve been a Flight Aware fan every this software was invented. In the 60’s my family would watch aircraft coming and going from the Boise, id airport. In the mid 90’s I would look up and see 747’s leaving contrails over Boise heading north east. I figured they were coming from San Francisco but I was baffled as to where they were going. I did not think there was anywhere you could land a 747 in Idaho, Wyoming or Montana. Then Flight Aware came out and I discovered where all the planes were going! The jet I followed all these years was BAW287. A flight from London Heathrow to San Francisco. Been watching all the jets from Europe flying to LAX or San Francisco. Today watching ,your video here, I was hoping you would point the camera out the window and maybe I could have seen Lake Lowell in Nampa. A Huge National Refuge you can see from low Earth orbit. But your flight was a nighttime flight so no luck seeing the lake. Today, while watching this all the flights from London coming to San Francisco are being rerouted to north Idaho -Washington then south over Oregon due to bad storms over eastern Idaho, Wyoming and the Dakota’s. Anyway, this flight really was something to watch considering Ivan been watching all the flights from London. Thx for review. Next time you do this flight I’ll be watching below!

Bud I can't thank you enough for sharing your experiences and perspective related to this particular flight. I would love to go back in time and go plane spotting in the 60s. Seeing the planes back then would have been super exciting as these were the early days of jet travel. I never imagined this flight would have so much impact on connecting people around our country. I'm really glad I was able to produce for people like yourself. I really like using FlightAware as well to track down certain flights around the US. I'm really amazed how you followed flight BA287 thats the return flight I am in to go from London to San Francisco. Video is coming soon. I'm going to try to find Lake Lowell in Nampa on a map, I hope to capture it on my next flight. But thank you again for this sweet message. Keep in touch my return flight to London video is almost complete. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Airlines with although smaller fleets but busy routes may keep them for longer than 10 years, we will just have to wait and see
Re supersonic aircraft yes there has been a lot of talk about them and some development but very little actual physical advancements. Airlines will jump onboard as it’s good publicity for them but United are not known for speculative nee aircraft so I doubt if anything of that nature will come to fruition. Within private aviation it may come sooner than later as it’s much easier to develop a small 6-14 seat aircraft with supersonic capabilities but considering a BBJ will cost approx $80 mil without too many frills so a supersonic one would cost approx $180 mil easily. But as ever it’s just a wait and see scenario, in aviation development apart from fuel saving and carbon fibre we seem to be going backwards

Yes the way things are going supersonic does not seem feasible especially with United being the giant they are they dont need publicity all they need is their best rates and they have the best rates in US. I love United and do hope they pull it off just to show America can do supersonic and keep it. It would be great to see a small fleet of these planes though it will be pricey
