13 and sacha's have the least amount of moments but they always fit so well. It amazes me the dynamic they were able to portray in just three episodes together. I really wanna see more of them when the show returns
I love how all the Doctors have this more nuanced relationship with the Master, that there's always a drive to redeem their lost friend, and that deep down, no matter what, the Doctor just wants the two of them to be friends again. And then there's Three.
A cool thing about this song for them is I could see it being from either/both of their perspectives with their biases. The Master knows they had something very early on, knew that the Doctor liked the Master and they were friends back in school, and with Missy and 12 it seemed like it might work out for them, but it ended with both feeling betrayed and bitter. Thirteen waking up after knowing that Missy had betrayed her in her last memory with her frenemy. Missy waking up after regenerating into Dhawan!Master and finding the Doctor had left without her even though she'd gone back on her betrayal. Both resenting and hating each other when they meet again. Both could see the other as cold, both putting on a front, emotional and distraught about their relationship and the situation they are in now. That the other moved on and they are still stuck in that hurt. Thanks for sharing this-- I hope you're doing better than they are!
@@jujublue4426 I wonder how their reunion might have gone if it weren't for TTC? With the Master learning that, on top of his trauma, 100% going against the Doctor there. Slight potential if not for that, I think, but ofc characters don't get therapy, they get misunderstandings for funsies. But also the Master 100% chose genocide on several occasions and could be seen as irredeemable for sure, I just wonder.
@@jujublue4426 yeah I wish we had more of an explanation in the television series, there’s the lumiat which explains it but personally I like he idea that dhawan!master woke up after regenerating from missy and realizing the doctor left him, which leads him to be evil again. I feel like dhawan’s master is even more impulsive because he’s just been abandoned after going through hell, which dhawan portrays so fuckin well.
@@sheregenerated13 i honestly think it wasn't a case of the master feeling abandoned (well, at least not fully) but that the spymaster genuinely tried so hard to be good, they went back to their home planet in an effort to reconnect with who they once were, but when they were just (semi-)innocently exploring the matrix and their history with the doctor he noticed something was off. then he learned that their culture (and all the pride he had in his heritage) was built on the torture and repeated murders of their best enemy and went apeshit, and knew there was no coming back from that - at least not in the eyes of the very person he did all of it for - so why not embrace their actions? (either that or the spymaster is the third master, or at least one of the earlier versions, which is why missy says "i knew him since he was a little girl")
