@@asiandlitekitchen1776 Hi this is what I have been doing in the past, But I never had a clear recipe. I am making it now, very close to your recipe, I need some more ingredients, I never used allspices, but I have everything else even the red bean curd. I have been eating beef stew from Chinatown NYC starting in 1970, I had a picture frame shop near and Chinatown was my life. My partner was Korean so I was the only American eating kimchi, seaweed, and rice. Thank you, this brings me back to a good time.
This is one of my FAVORITE Cantonese dishes, and it goes SO well with some rice noodle in soup too! We typically used a shortcut and ordered the beef and tendons already braised in the sauce from a local Chinese restaurant and just added fresh daikon and ginger for a quick and delicious meal!
Most restaurants don't make this well, probably due to rushing. I can't wait to try your recipe. Thanks. In the USA, this cut is called rough flank. For non-asians, brisket and short ribs will be then next best cut to use.
I understand 大家好! 😄 Wow! Your Cantonese beef stew with daikon looks so flavorful, tender and delicious!! Your detailed explanation is also very good to understand Cantonese cuisine! Yes, some of the sauce I didn't know. Oh! Korean daikon! 😄 Beef tender looks good too! I love this noodle soooool much!! You're a good cook!! Big like The stew looks gorgeous!!👍❤

Hi, please my question today is about the allspice berries. Your allspice is 2x as big as mine? My allspice has a very strong smell of ‘Christmas’ but they are so small, what do you buy and does the size matter to the recipe? I put one extra to be safe, I am almost finished cooking my beef stew, it looks and tastes just like NYC Chinatown, so good. The Chinatown beef stew was like a surprise every day, I would come late and there was many things extra, tripe and crispy pork, but also they had put things like Lotus root, and other vegetable things I never recognized? Thank you for the meal I am having tonight and for a few more nights.
That cut of meat can be found in some Mexican meat markets. The cut of beef is called “Suadero”. Unfortunately, not all Mexican meat markets will have that cut. I went on a carniceria Suadero crawl, just to find that exact cut. The Mexican market was somewhere in Hawthorne on, a southeast corner. What follows is a copy paste quote that may help you find Suadero; “This particular cut of meat, called “Suadero” in Mexico, is found here in the States at Latin Markets by the name “Rose Meat”, or even “Roast Meat”, like in my local Latin market. This is a light pink cut of meat that looks like a muscle and can be confused with hanger steak, brisket or any other cut of meat used for shredding.
@@asiandlitekitchen1776 I tried the recipe. It came out good. The only modification I made was that I added a mix of pure cashew butter and some same paste. The cashews added some richness and creaminess without yours truly suffering from hours of peanut-related stomach cramps.

Can I make the mixed sauce in large batch and refrigerate it to use later?
Sure. If you make large batch I recommend put in freezer and defrost before use for best quality.

Where do I buy the dried orange peel? Can I just dry my own orange? Thanks!
You can look for it in some Asian store. If you can’t find it, little tangerine 🍊/ cuties can do the job not orange. Tkx

Yes, sesame sauce/paste would work as well. I have never try tahini but it is made from sesame should be a good substitute. Thank you!☺️
