I followed your recipe and it was demolished on x-mas day at my bbq. I did pre chop the bottom 3 inches to throw over the flames as I love them crispy, just like chicken wing tips roasted. Thanks from Tasmania brother.
Hey Terence, Cheers for the feedback, I’m glad you enjoyed the recipe, always goes down a treat!👌🏽 Yeah nice, I love the crispy ends too 🙌🏽 You’re welcome brother, enjoy 🙏🏽😊
I just stumbled upon your content and I am surprised you have only 44 subs as of writing this comment! The narration is pleasant and the recipes I've seen on your channel so far seem absolutely delicious. I can't wait to try all of them, especially the pickled octopus! 💜
A few months back I went to Arthur Avenue in the Bronx and got a jar of pickled octopus and I loved it. Decided to try making it myself and found your channel. I'm going to give it a go. Excellent and easy to follow guide.
Awesome! I have yet to taste my creation. Just placed the jars in the refer. Note: I cooked a 1.9 and a 1.7 pound octopus and the ingredients worked perfectly. I think we spent close to $100 for 4, 1 quart mason jars of pickled octopus. A bit pricey but here in Key West, FL everything costs more than the mainland. Thank you for taking the time to podcast this recipe. Question: how long would an unopened jar of stuff last? Thanks and good health.
That’s awesome Ralph, very happy to hear you have followed and enjoyed my recipe 👌🏽 Yes the prices here in Australia are quite dear also but it’s definitely worth it! You’re welcome and I hope you continue to watch and enjoy my content 🙂 Answer to your question, I’ve had mine in the fridge for up to 3-4 weeks. All the best and God bless 🙏🏽😎
Hi Helen, The jars have never lasted more than a few days in my household 😂 They get demolished pretty quickly. But I would say a week to 10 days just give them a stir every couple of days and you should be fine. Thanks you and enjoy 😊
Hi Seamus, Thanks for your comment. The jars were topped up with the pickle juice I prepared at 2:15 in the beginning of the video. I hope you make my recipe and enjoy it as much as I do 👍🏽 Cheers
Hi Louis, Thanks for your message, I highly recommend using the pickled juice that I boil around 2 mins into the video but if you didn’t make it you can use extra virgin olive oil instead. Thrown in a sprig of rosemary to lock in the flavour 👍🏽 Thanks and happy cooking 😊
Hey Woody, My jars never last long in the fridge because they get polished hahaha but they are good for roughly 2 weeks after that the occy goes a little mushy. Enjoy! 🙏🏽😊
Hi Daryl, Thanks for your comment, the sugar is for extra flavour as the ingredients contain sundried tomatoes and jalapeño chillies which are quite acidic. The sugar helps break down the acidity. Cheers 👍🏽
Thanks for your feedback 👍🏽 You can leave some ingredients out obviously, this is just how I enjoy it. Give it a try and you can adjust from there 🙂 I always recommend cooking the octopus, raw would upset the stomach. Cheers
Awesome
Hey Gus, loved watching this! Marinated/pickled octopus is one of my favourites. I'll definitely give your recipe a go. Thanks!
Hi Lucas,
Absolutely, give it a try you won’t be disappointed 👌🏽

G’day Gus once in the fridge how much shelf life does the octopus have
Hi Helen,
The jars have never lasted more than a few days in my household 😂
They get demolished pretty quickly. But I would say a week to 10 days just give them a stir every couple of days and you should be fine.
Thanks you and enjoy 😊
Hey sounds great, what about the red onion?
Hi Graham, the red onion can be substituted for the shallots. I forgot to mention that 😂
Thanks for your feedback 👍🏽
Do you sterilise the jars beforehand??
Hi Lucas,
Yes! Always sterilise the jars beforehand 👍🏽
@@LetsGetTasty thanks. Do you just sit them in boiling water for 5 mins? Dry them? Let them dry naturally? Sorry for the questions
What did you top up the jars with? Thanks
Hi Seamus,
Thanks for your comment. The jars were topped up with the pickle juice I prepared at 2:15 in the beginning of the video. I hope you make my recipe and enjoy it as much as I do 👍🏽
Cheers
How long can you keep the Pickled Octopus unopened in the fridge for?
Hi Kerry,
Thanks for your question. I would recommend around two weeks, my jars have never lasted more than a few days though haha
Cheers 👍🏽
I’ve copied your recipe but didn’t keep the cooked juices to add to jars , what do u recommend I use to keep moist soil n jars please 🙏

Hi Daryl,
Thanks for your comment, the sugar is for extra flavour as the ingredients contain sundried tomatoes and jalapeño chillies which are quite acidic. The sugar helps break down the acidity.

too much ingredients, but seems ok; this was for cooked octopus, this same recipe can go for raw octopus also???
Thanks for your feedback 👍🏽
