  • I headed to a section of river I have never fished before fishing for flathead on the sand flats. Beautiful spot for the nature lovers. Lots of wildlife around, eagles, dolphins, sting rays and emus etc., made the spot very enjoyable to fish. The large area of sand flats to fish was endless, I only covered a very small area of it, but will definitely be back to explore some more.
Lots of flathead around, size was limited, but there will be plenty of big girls in the area without a doubt, just needed more time to explore the area to find where they are hiding. Gotta love exploring new areas you have never fished before. Next time I fish here I will bring some large swimbaits to throw around and see if that encourages a monster flathead to bite.
Thanks for watching and joining me on my adventures.
    Cheers.

looks like a great spot :) awesome little flatty session!
finally got my first jack at 35cm from the creek, he went back cranky haha
was pure luck, flicking around the creek in general, not really up tight to any snags, he must have been venturing out for a snack late arvo haha

Congrat's on your first jack Jesse, yeah they are a cranky angry fish lol, keep your fingers away from their mouth, I had a little pup snap onto the skin on my finger!!! once they get something in their mouth they don't let go.

Hey Ian, schools of mullet is what you can see, and a few bream. but there was also lots of small hardy heads/whitebait around each tree branch which was what the flathead were probably feeding on.
