Quite a difference between the way she was holding little Saul and crying while talking to 911, and the way Alexis threw him into a bag of garbage and tossed him into that dumpster without a thought. Hopefully, she'll never, ever have any access to Saul while he's a child.

Divine intervention led those people to the dumpster. How could that poor baby have held on that long and not suffocated? He was in the trash bin for hours. That women should never be allowed near that child. She gave him up in the worst of ways. It's gross.

This story reminds me of the similar other stories of mothers abandoning their babies. There are couple's looking to adopt children, give the baby a chance to grow up and be the best they possibly can be.

Under the New Mexico Safe Haven for Infants Act, you can bring your baby, up to 90 days old, to any Safe Haven site in New Mexico without fear of being criminally charged for child abandonment.
If you are found guilty you should not be allowed out on bail pending an appeal. She should be locked up now!
No excuses, that was evil. I'm absolutely horrified by her actions and more so her half assed excuses.

Tried to avoid 18 years of raising a baby. Is sentenced to 18 years in jail.
Good God! The level of this young adult’s moral compass is so deficient! All she had to do is take her baby to a safe haven for babies since she couldn’t take care of it properly. I feel she deserves to be in jail for the rest of her life. Her age is not a good excuse. There are plenty of other young mothers that wouldn’t even think about what she did. I’m glad Saul is being taken good care of.

The “mother” should in NO WAY benefit from the fact that people found the baby. That’s what they are saying. That’s why the attempt murder charge was dropped 😳
If she had left him at a church or something like that where someone would definitely find him that would be different.
But NO - She hurled that tiny baby into a dumpster where nobody would see or hear him. She was not concerned about that baby’s welfare, or it’s life in any way whatsoever.
She did not arrange for those people to find him.
If those random strangers had not gone to that dumpster, at that time the baby most certainly would have died.
She also made ZERO efforts in the 5 or so hours following her dumping the child, to contact ANYONE anonymously and report the baby’s location. She also put the baby into a PLASTIC BAG.
She hoped that it would all go away and she could simply move on with her life.

She should NOT benefit from strangers finding, and doctors and nurses helping the baby. She should have been charged with attempted murder.

P.s if her family immediately paid the 10k bond to have her released from custody, I’d be interested in finding out if they also paid for a fancy criminal lawyer. This sentence absolutely reeks of financial privilege.
But regardless of a private or a public defender, that charge of attempted murder should have remained. I can’t understand what possible excuse she could have that this charge was dropped.
My flabbers are 100% gasted over this.
If I was living in that same city, where this crime occurred. I’d be out on the streets letting people know and having people sign a petition. I’d be shaming the district’s attorney and anyone else involved in releasing this monster into the world.

But the way she threw that trash bag in that dumpster and that babies tiny cry. Well, that got to me hard. I just can’t imagine throwing a living (new born at that!) being away like garbage. From her perspective, the dumpster divers finding the baby wasn't lucky. From her perspective, the point of throwing the baby away was that it would end up in a landfill and no one would ever know that it existed. I would have voted guilty on all counts.

The entire story is heartbreaking but what always gets me is how she just lobs the baby into the dumpster. The baby flies through the air and into the dumpster. You'd think, at a minimum, she'd step up and set the bag into the trash, but nope. He sails through the air. Unbelievable.

Did you see the arrest of the woman who's been living her life for 18 years since throwing her baby in the trash in 2005? They've known who she is, although I don't know the specifics. She said she's been in discussions with LE. That POS had the gaul to say it's unfortunate she had to be arrested before Christmas! Yeah, apparently your Christmas is important.

I accept that young people today are far less mature but also, and Im NOT saying everyone, far more selfish than previous generations, but to even THINK about putting a newborn baby into a plastic bag is horrific, but to put it in the plastic bag and THEN throw that bag into a dumpster with the full knowledge that it will be freezing cold and the baby will die a horrible death is BEYOND evil! I was pregnant at age 16 and a mother at 17 and I literally went through HELL to have him, but today these young women have 3 primary focuses "Me, myself and I "! It makes me ABSOLUTELY sick when I hear stories like this. One question only needs to be asked before the female should be thrown in prison and that is "Does she know its wrong to place a breathing infant into a plastic bag and throw that bag into the bin?"I rest my case!

You would have to be living under a rock to not know about safe haven laws. Every state has them. Every person has access to the internet to google whatever it may be that you need to know . Theres absolutely no reasonable excuse for what she done. She should be in jail and everyone should know what she done. I was a teen mom and I had to get off my lazy selfish self centered ass and take care of my baby. Thank God she is one of the best things that ever happened to me and Im only sorry that this woman young as she is couldn't see past herself to experience it for herself. It’s so unbelievably of how there is little or no punishment for hurting babies, time and time we see how babies are aborted or thrown in garbage, toilets. I don't understand when I was 18 I was taking care of a wife and one baby. The next year at 19 I was taking care of a wife and two babies. 18 is more than old enough to know that you don't throw your baby in a dumpster hell any teenager would know that. @@larmstrong2302 Yeah, they (they being the State government and the federal government) need to do more to promote the Safe Haven Program; a lot more. I've never heard of this program until Amy talked about it in the video. Of course, I'm a Canadian, so it would stand to reason why I've never heard of it until now. But that doesn't excuse the lack of knowledge about the program in your country, Lucy.

She thought of herself, what other would think of her and how upset her family would be if they found out she’s pregnant. NOW in deep in the investigation she calmly explains she has a job and oh now she wants the baby, trying to convince the officers she a good person and just had a small lapse in judgment. I would like a do over, she wants the baby. Bazaar, she’s not locked up waiting an appeal. The jury is going to she through her,like a butter utensil sliding through a stick of butter smooth and slick.
