- The best-known cast members of the Discovery Channel’s MythBusters are hosts Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman, but the show’s Build Team became stars (and hosts of the show) in their own right.

Kari was a sweetheart, always loved her enthusiasm and energy. Making her a co-host was a genius move and the show would have not been remotely the same without her.

I had the honor of casually bumping into Kari at a music festival called outside lands in SF in 2010. She was really humble when I was obviously star struck and somehow our conversation lead to the discovery that we both rode the same model of vintage schwinn bicycles to the show that day.
she walked by me at SiliCon in San Jose last year I was so embarrassed I said "Hi kari! I love your show, I love mythbusters" but I was too nervous to continue to the conversation lol

Mythbusters went downhill after they got rid of the build team.
Adam recently talked about how upsetting it was that the build team was let go
Well I think it only lasted a season after that, or at best a year, so when they let the build team go it pretty much circled the drain.

I enjoyed watching Kari and the build team. I just never took an art major as that much of an engineer or a platform to encourage STEM without a STEM degree. But she really did hold her own and I'm glad to see her encourage STEM.

I enjoyed Grant, Tori and Kari more often than Adam and Jamie. All were great but they usually had the better chemistry and made it more fun.
That makes sense since Jamie, and Adam respect each other, but don't necessarily like each other. Adam has stated many times that they aren't really friends, but they work well together.
Agreed. I really like Adam's quirky sense of humor but Jamie was such a curmudgeon that he really brought down their segments. What they did was really cool and kept me watching it, but it would have been better with a different partner I think.

@@christofferrasmussen6533 I agree with you. The contrast in personalities between Jamie and Adam is what really made the show interesting to watch. The interactions between them were genuine, and I could relate to either one on certain days. Man that show was great.
IDK i thought Adam and Jamie's anti-chemistry was actually hilarious.
I really like her. She is smart and pretty and really seems to enjoy her work experimenting and learning :) She is also a great role model for young girls.

Her science based prank show sounds interesting in concept, probably the execution and budget that lacked, also sounds a bit like the show Scare Tactics.
I get the feeling the executives figured we have done too many prank based shows already and its only real drawing power will be "hey, I know those two guys!" Especially since youtube has thousands of "pranksters'" who do constant uploads inundating the market

They did another episode where they busted the myth that pretty girls don't fart by putting a microphone and a hydrogen sulfide meter in a pair of granny panties ( they looked like bloomers) she put on, and basically followed her around until she farted.

Considering how often they used her for sexual appeal (Posing bent over to be the "butt model", Getting in a silver bikini, etc) you might not be far off the mark for some of the production team.

well honestly the show was dead (or more like murdered) at that point. im glad adam and jamie got to finish the show like how they started it, with small reunion reserved for the team. barring the ability to have 30 more seasons this ending was the best possible
They weren’t fired. They asked too much in negotiations so their contract wasn’t renewed.

Interesting! I never thought anything was going on between Kari and any of the other mythbusters. I watched this show as a kid and I think I kind of just assumed she was married already because she was pregnant in many of the episodes I remember watching.

Now Josh Gates and some of the cast on Destination Truth? Those gave me a few vibes that some hanky panky might be going on once the cameras were off.
I thought something might have happened between Tori and Kary. Even if they deny it...
I remember reading that Discovery just didn't want to ante up and was trying to cut costs, so they cut Tori, Grant and Kari. They thought the show was going down hill and wanted to spend less on it.
Neon Shadow the show was already out of myths. That’s an unsolvable problem. It was over.
If anything it hastened the show’s demise.

I loved Mythbusters and Kari was an amazing host on the show, I miss those days alot! I can remember one episode that she did the Chinese water torture to see if there was any truth to it actually working and having a psychological effect on her, it definitely did as she was crying in that episode, I felt so bad I wanted to write her a letter to see if she was okay from that experience!

Myth Busters was my favorite show I wish it would come back. I thought when they done MythBusters Jr that it was maybe going to comeback but I was heartbroken when it did not

I watched every Mythbuster episode! Kari entertained me to no end. My all time favorite Kari creation was her flesh eating zombie dog in a season 4 episode where they were determining whether or not dropping a frozen turkey on a pet would kill it.

I remember watching myth busters when I was in elementary school, sometimes the show came out in english, I cannot understand a single thing xD. But they inspired me to get more interested in science
