Just the way it goes with TV. I'm pretty sure it was from a strike long ago, but actors get guaranteed pay increases the longer a TV show runs. Mythbusters ran long enough that it just had too many main cast members. The Build Team wasn't willing to take a huge pay cut or some other showbiz nonsense in order to keep doing the show, especially since it was always a massive undertaking. Adam Savage has talked a lot about how they were working crazy hours on mythbusters, and only getting a few weeks/months off between seasons before going back to 100+ hour workweeks, so it's no surprise they chose to step down. Adam and Jamie only did another 2 or 3 seasons without them before they left as well.
This is so heartbreaking. I have the entire Mythbusters collection, and often watch episodes several times per week. He will be greatly missed. Rest in peace, Grant.

Agreed. I really like Adam's quirky sense of humor but Jamie was such a curmudgeon that he really brought down their segments. What they did was really cool and kept me watching it, but it would have been better with a different partner I think.

They did another episode where they busted the myth that pretty girls don't fart by putting a microphone and a hydrogen sulfide meter in a pair of granny panties ( they looked like bloomers) she put on, and basically followed her around until she farted.
Her science based prank show sounds interesting in concept, probably the execution and budget that lacked, also sounds a bit like the show Scare Tactics.
I get the feeling the executives figured we have done too many prank based shows already and its only real drawing power will be "hey, I know those two guys!" Especially since youtube has thousands of "pranksters'" who do constant uploads inundating the market
I really like her. She is smart and pretty and really seems to enjoy her work experimenting and learning :) She is also a great role model for young girls.

well honestly the show was dead (or more like murdered) at that point. im glad adam and jamie got to finish the show like how they started it, with small reunion reserved for the team. barring the ability to have 30 more seasons this ending was the best possible
I remember reading that Discovery just didn't want to ante up and was trying to cut costs, so they cut Tori, Grant and Kari. They thought the show was going down hill and wanted to spend less on it.
Considering how often they used her for sexual appeal (Posing bent over to be the "butt model", Getting in a silver bikini, etc) you might not be far off the mark for some of the production team.

I loved Mythbusters and Kari was an amazing host on the show, I miss those days alot! I can remember one episode that she did the Chinese water torture to see if there was any truth to it actually working and having a psychological effect on her, it definitely did as she was crying in that episode, I felt so bad I wanted to write her a letter to see if she was okay from that experience!

Show had so many great people, the mainstays and all the people they would occasionally bring in to help or what not. There's very few actors that have passed away that I miss but Grant is one of them.
Kari is great! I've had the incredible opportunity to sit and talk with her in person for my podcast and she has been on the show a couple times for her new work with EXPLR.
