I think the difference between the adapters you bought is that the ones that are working have something called a DAC convertor chip. They convert digital to analog. So if you are buying a USB- C to 3.5mm, make sure it has a DAC and it should work, no matter the brand!
Found it! Since the mic's male end is a TRRS 4 - pole, the adapter connector MUST be compatible with the TRRS. Specify that in your search. This took me a couple hours of searching to understand why my Lavelier mic was not working with my Galaxy S22 even with the MCSPER USB-C to 3.5mm Adapter suggested above. The TRRS 4 pole is for audio only and therefore the adapter connector must be compatible for audio transference. So I order this from Amazon: JSTMA USB C to 3.5mm Audio Jack Adapter 32Bit Audio HiFi DAC Amplifier Converter Support High-impedance Headphones for Windows MacOS Android Phones Switch PS Xbox (Black).
Hi Rajat, I too was about to give up with being able to use my wired earbuds for my S22 Ultra. However, thanks to you and your recommendation for the adapter MCSPER, I am now able to use them. Thank you so much!👍😊
Thaks Rhajat, as an FYI the adaptor you recommended first is now the Amazon Best Seller! thanks a bunch. I was already mad at Samsung for getting rid of the input port and I also have issues using my tripod since the power button is on the side of the Camera and won't allow for good balance when using a regular tripod...thanks for solving one issue.
It's important whether the 3.5mm AUX you're plugging into the adapter has a trrs connection or trs, usually microphones uses trs only, which phones can't use, and so a TRS to TRRS adapter is necessary, however, some TRS to TRRS adapters just cut out the first R meaning the phone still won't be able to use the microphone as a standalone microphone and will require a TRRS to TRS/TRS headphone/microphone splitter, a 1 male to 2 female, one for headphones and one for microphone, and then you'll need both a microphone and some headphone (dummy headphone) for the microphone to work, essentially you're tricking the phone into thinking you have a TRRS headset connected.........
You can use the Samsung adapter. But you need a 4-pole plug, and the mic plug is only 3-pole. So, use a standard 4-pole male to 2 x 3-pole female adapter, mic and phones. As is normal with PC's and headsets.
Great! Thanks for your tips! I noticed 1 of the adapters I have didn't work for the mic but DOES work for headphones and maybe it was designed just for output only. So it is good to know that another adapter can work for the mic. Thank you!
Dear sir, thank you for your advice. I have a tech issue and maybe you can help me: I bought an external microphone (lavalier, rode) but when I connected this with the phone's adapter (3.5mm jack to c /Flip 3) then I record my voice with the external microphone, but unfortunately I can't hear what I have recorded. Is there a setting for reproducing the audio I ve recorded? Thank you in advance for your help
Excellent video!! Actually, in my experience, you could have almost covered your table with adapters that don't work! Those mics you're showing as good are perfect - they fit easily right into my Supcase Unicorn Beetle (Ruddy, of course - red works best! 😊 ) belt clip. I often use my phone to record speeches and this keeps the phone from bouncing around on a speakers stand or table making thumping noises. The best part is they also work with older model (expensive) headsets; and with the very high quality mini-collar-mic I once bought from Radio Shack that makes excellent voice recordings. Great job, Rajat! Oh, and of course, my expensive ear buds that are sitting in a drawer that I now don't have to throw away! Terrific!
Wanted to thank you for the reviews, but I Just purchased the MCSPER from your link and it doesn't work. They must have changed the internals it in the last few years. Others on Amazon also are saying it doesn't work with Movo mics either, which I also tested and confirmed.
Thanks for the video and links. I purchased the samsung usb-c to 2.5mm for my S22 Ultra and it did not work either. Purchased the JSAUX and hope it works so I can get my Rode mic working. Will keep you posted.
I ALSO heard with some of these you need to convert from TRRS to TRS, There are so many cable combos:/ But a lot DO work you just have to switch from TRS to TRRS or vice versa depending on what your working with.
Thanks for the video! I ordered the JSAUX adapter for a wired lav mic...technically it works, but sounds really awful and I'm not sure why...not sure if I want to try the other one that you linked...my mic might be terrible! 😅

I ordered one and it didn't work at all. The JSAUX that you said worked didnt work at all with my s22 ultra. The MCS wasn't available on Amazon. Just spent 30USD on it for nothing unfortunately.
I just bought a cheap $5 usb-c to 3.5 audio jack "Onn" brand from Wal-mart that is working with my s21. I use Open Camera since it gives me the option to use an external mic in the settings. I just tested on my wife's s22 (not ultra) and it works. The default camera even stated that it was recording audio using the usb microphone.
Thanks my man. The Amazon Samsung wire did not work for me either, not for the Rode nor for the Pixel M80 mic. I was convinced it was the microphones that were at fault. I will pick up this cable and report back.
I had a problem with my new Samsung phone, and did find that the usb c worked for music, but it did not work for phone calls. Finally, I discovered that my normal headphones worked when I removed the cover. So, I cut the hole bigger on the cover only, and now I can use my regular headphones for my Samsung phone, that I also use for my computer.
I had to say a big THANK YOU for posting this. I failed on 2 big recordings because I did not realize the USB adaptors would not allow audio. I bought 1 of each of the 2 recommendations and they BOTH worked. Thanks again
I am having like a "frequency sound" after recording on my rode micro 2. How can I get rid of it? I tried to switch on airplane mode still the same... The sound from the mic is great but the noise in the background is annoying 😑
I bought the JSAUX adaptor. It didn't work for plugging in an external microphone on my Samsung S22 Ultra. Will be exchanging for the Saramonic. I'll keep my fingers crossed and provide an update.
@@Kommentar_Roboter I ended up getting an S23 Ultra...and thankfully, it works with my USB-C to TRS adapter. This is the simplest solution I've found-- just one cable that plugs into your phone on one end, and the Rode Videomicro on the other. The brand is JSTMA and it's about $20 on Amazon. *SO* much easier than having to mess around with a headphone adapter *and* a TRS to TRRS cable!
Hello, S21 Ultra user here. I have an issue with the mic of my phone when I plug it on my car aux via a headphone jack cable and a USB c adapter (as the S21 doesn't have headphone jack). Once I do that, the mic doesn't work! And it's pretty annoying as I'm looking to answer calls hands free, when the aux USB c adapter is connected to my phone I can't send whatsapp voice notes neither be heard on calls, unless I'm on speaker, if when on a call connected to the aux I activate the "speaker" mode the mic works, but again removing the purpose of the hands free being connected to the car. Anyone else has this issue that knows a fix? I would appreciate any help
These USB adaptors did not work for my Galaxy S22 with MOVO VXR10 mic. I ordered both MCSPER and JSAUX adapters and the mic audio was still very low quality for both. It may just be this specific microphone. Will definitely have to return the Mic and Adapters.
I purchased the RODE microphone too and tried using the adapters, and still no luck. Unfortunately, my Galaxy S22 did not recognize the mic. I returned it all through Amazon.
@@Kommentar_Roboter Hi, after returning the MOVO VXR10 mic, i bought the Movo DoubleMic-UC, which has a USB-C connector built on it. This did work but the mic was just overall very loud/high. I thought it was okay, but not something I wanted. I ended up returning that one as well. I think the newer Samsung galaxy phones are just not well supported for these external microphones. I did order the Rode wireless go 2 and will see if this high priced mic works well with the Galaxy S22. Also had to purchase a couple adapters for connecting it to the phone.

When you are using an external microphone, is your phones microphone still active? or does it disable it while using the external microphone?
