The Night Started Off So Good.

- Robert decided to have a midweek #vanlife night away. Laura popped along too, so we could spend a bit of time together. The night started off so good. Laura enjoyed a #ridgemonkey pizza (made famous by the wonderful & extremely entertaining @Adz Ventures - it was "The One") & we caught up on some of the videos on the channels we subscribe to on here, such as @theoriginhomestead @zafiracamper & @FrankieOffGrid
From there though, things went downhill fast.
Laura wasn't staying the night as she had work the next morning. Trains were coming & going constantly to the factory we were parked up outside of & the level crossing was manually operated, so the staff had to come & open them each time someone wanted in or out of the carpark. But they weren't able to open the gates while a train was docked as it stood across the crossing. Sometimes they were closed for an hour or more each time! With this, we decided to move as 1) Laura didn't want to get stuck. And 2) I wanted to get some sleep - not very likely if trains were due to be loading/unloading all night. We 1st tried to go to Blyth beach, where we had stayed previously. However this spot was closed for resurfacing works. We tried a little further down at Seaton Sluice, but unfortunately all the spots were already taken by the time we got there.
Eventually I decided to call it quits & just head home to bed with Laura.

Laura thought she wasn’t going g to be able to leave to get to work the next day. I thought that was hilarious much to Laura’s disgust.
Maybe we’ll try it again when we are both off 😂

The Pizza was worth the effort. Laura thoroughly enjoyed it.
Yeah it wasn’t the night I had planned. But nothing ever seems to go to plan for me. At least the bed at home was comfy 😂
Someone recommended a different app (searchforsites), so we’ve downloaded that to see if it’s any better than park4night. Hopefully the next one will be better 🤞

Tbh my absolute go to is super Simple… Google Earth and then Google Streetview - almost all of my car camps I’ve found this way 🙏
We have the free version of p4n, but we’ve been told the paid for version shows more parking spots than the free one.
Yeah if I’d looked hard enough, then I could’ve found a different spot after 3 failed attempts. But to be honest, I was a bit sick by that point. But Google maps + street view is a good tip. Thank you 👍

I’d never realised p4n had a paid part, it used to be just you have to register and then you’d see more - clearly they wanna make some £££s now ☺️
Yeah this is always my fear with the unplanned ones…. Hunting for spaces 😭
I’ve had a proper look. It’s p4n+ You can access it offline, use advance searches etc.. but I think I’m wrong for getting additional sites. My apologies. The + version is €9.99 per year though.
But I’ll definitely explore different options. Relying on p4n only clearly isn’t working for me/us
