Tuba Skinny is far and away the best New Orleans jazz band on this channel ,or anywhere else ! If you can only listen to one Jazz , it should be these folks 🎺🎺❤️
Yes, they are indisputably musicians firmly rooted in jazz. But they draw inspiration from many styles of music, and hence their phenomenon of bringing together people who had little to do with jazz. I myself am a good example of this.
First time I heard "San" it was performed by The Jim Cullen Jazz Band with Vince Giordano on the radio. This version is right up there and I thoroughly enjoyed hearing the lyrics for the first time. Paul Whiteman and Bix are smiling from above.
Great performance of a great song by a great band and a stellar guest! The mixing is great as well. Gives the song the vibe of an old 78 RPM without crushing the sound completely. Man I love me some Tuba Skinny!

To be honest, it's neither. The material was the video recording available to me, along with the audio. There wasn't much I could do, but I managed - in part - to remove the rumbling, distorted lows that were severely blocking the other instruments.
I want my USA silver dime back. I'm a busker. I cant even buy a LaBatts with all this Canadian money. God save the Queen but i need to spend Her Majesty's cash. I LOVE Tuba Skinny. Bon temps.
I agree. However, it was even worse. In the original recording, the bass cuts off the midrange, so that every drum hit causes the sound to be violently stifled. I'm not an expert, but I did some work on it. So I think that although it's not the best, it's possible to listen to it now.
