if you play this song for a young Hipster now they would love it. Even if they have never heard it before. It's got all the elements of a great, low fi rock song. Any time you can just sing ba ba ba ba ba ba ba baa ba! and have people tapping their feet......you nailed it. 1965. amazing.
The Troggs are still so unique with their style, lyrics etc. Always loved their music and I have to return to these co0l songs often. The era of : The Troggs, The Turtles, The Animals, The Beatles, The Kinks, and Manfred Mann, with Paul Jones as lead singer... those were the best days ever.🌸💜🌸
Rest in Peace Reg, condolences to your family. You were my uncle's brickie by day, and a Trogg at night. Remember Christmas Eve 1966, you gave all of the girls in Woolworth in Andover a treat, all of you were mobbed, even by my Mum. Ludgersall Memorial Hall, those were the days. Gone but never will be forgotten. Jamming with all the others up there, a jam to make the angels sing. God Bless
GREAT SONG! Reg Presley was a superb lead vocalist and the Troggs were a unique band that can only be apppreciated now that we look back at how different they were to the prevailing music at the time.
Some of the greatest songs of all time in the 60s........the music will never die.....we will. Another one gone.....very sad to hear that.......may he rock and roll in peace.
This band are so underrated its unreal,l would put them in the same class as the kinks and bands of that ilk, great music from a great decade, beats the current stuff by miles.
This was a hit when I was at junior school. We would all leg it around the playground screaming the title, in between playing "kiss chase" and "tag chain" and one or two others whose names escape me. Some of the happiest days of my life..
Had the 45 when I was a kid, and played the hell out of it. Memorized every note. Haven't heard it in a good 50 years, but it's firmly lodged in my brain still. LOVE hearing it again!
Innocent now but controversial in the US that some radio stations wouldn't play it and so it peaked at #43. R.I.P. Reg Presley the group's leader. So glad they had success in the USA as well.
Geez, I was 2 years old, really I do remember my mother has the record I love this song it is great to be able to see this gem form 60's. Thanks for posting this!!!!
The Wizards of Oz at their best. These guys and The Standells did it for me back then. Primal sound par-excellence. Little Steven -- see you on the radio.
I had an unconventional introduction to this song: it was in a computer game from the 90s! It was a low budget, point-and-click, detective game, and I haven't been able to find it. "I Can't Control Myself" was easy to locate, however. That line sticks in your head.
I remember a girl I worked with at the Halifax BS saying " you know that Troggs song? well I ran into the record shop and the guy said "yes....?" I blurted out " I can`t control myself!" "you`d better leave then" "no, no it`s a record I want" nice memories from long ago............:)
Saw the who, troggs and the Ohio express in ‘68 at the Ottawa civic centre, Canada. I was 13 then, the who & troggs were great, but Ohio express too bubble gummy for me. Reg had that unique cool voice 👍🏼🎸

another member in rock and roll heaven i remember "i can't control myself" as one of the songs that got me hooked on rock and roll back in 1966 when i was 10 years old
When this song was released the only station that played this song with any regularity was Kansas City's lone Black formated station. They would only play it at night. I used to have the radio down low while I was doing my homework. When the song would come on I would crank it up just loud enough!!! Soon after Kansas City's only FM Top 40 station started playing it but not as much as the black station used to at night!
I'm trying to read the sign in the window. I think it says Hökarängen - Alvik, and thus the number above the words would be 18. i.e. they're on the Green line. One of the stations on this like was, and is, Odenplan, where the video for Wild Thing was filmed.
Could you imagine The Troggs playing for you on the train. It'd sure beat that SHIT - Hop music I have to hear every day. I met Reg , once. He was like you'd picture , very funny and most pleasant , but , best of all , thoroughly unconcerned with whatever was "Cool and "With it" " at the moment , as he put it.
Yeah , but , in this life , I think he was more concerned with his family than going to a lot of parties with Rock Stars. I think those who formed true friendships with him , felt honored.
Awesome stuff!! So underrated for sure.....prefer the Troggs over the who or Stones. Especially with songs like this and Lost Girl, From Home, Evil, I Want You, Your Love. Love their raw guitar sound vocals.
You can tell the Troggs are just having a good ole time and saw this song as what it should have been seen by everybody-a joke---and a funny one at that!

The Troggs were one of the finest pop bands to ever come out of the 60s' and way too beautiful to ever be forgotten.
Have they really been Popper? I love Hardrock - and the Troggs. Maybe not this one. But earlier they were really rocking.
