      As much as I agree with you that it's the right call, unfortunately the healthcare system doesn't see it that way. Because ultimately it's the patient's decision, even if it kills the patient, you can't force/manipulate someone into treatment. Cos if this is real life, that chick is probably gonna sue the hospital after she gets treated. Right to Autonomy means that patients have the right and ability to make their own choices and decisions about medical care and treatment they receive, as long as those decisions are within the boundaries of law.

      Yeah, I think the problem was that some people aren’t seeing that her choice to not have narcotics was IRRATIONAL and dangerous. She was under the false belief taking any kind of drugs would turn her into an addict like her father, when in reality she needs therapy to overcome that fear as it’s clearly having an adverse effect on her life. Sedation was the right call even if the patient doesn’t agree with it, the psychological issues are pretty deep for her to say no to medication when in such severe pain.

    For those that want to know. It turns out her and her father have a genetic condition where the treatment is opioid medications, their father was unknowingly and excessively self medicating with his drug addition. So both her and her father started to receive the correct does of tax and it was hinted to that the daughter saw he father in a new light and started to rebuild their relationship.

      reminds me of the time I had serious pain around my stomach area. I couldn’t bare it, I was sweating, rocking to try keep my mind off the pain.
      Got the point my mom called for a ambulance. Around the time they arrived, it essentially just went away for a good 5 mins.
      Felt embarrassed as I kept thinking they think I was lying. Not long after, it came back. Eventually got to the hospital.
      Thankfully, the doctor realised my belly was bloated (some sign that I wasn’t just BS to skip a school day). He presume it was simply a large trapped gas bubble.
      If that’s the case, I don’t wanna experience it again as that’s one of the worst pains I’ve ever had. Worse than the kidney stones I had.

    • @Frostfern94

      @@jaydee6574 I disagree. It's not ignorant or irrational. I'm the exact same with drugs and alcohol because of my mother. I don't want to get addicted so I choose to not drink alcohol (I've tried it before and it tastes bad anyway) and do any unnecessary drugs. I hadn't even taken pain meds before last year.
      I didn't want to fall down the same hole she did and make everyone else suffer like she did.

      @@Frostfern94 It's irrational when it gets to *this* level. Ideally people would only take medication if necessary. I feel sorry for the father cause he's in pain seeing his daughter in pain. I know he's an addict so he's not the best role model but he still cares and still wants to be there for her. He knows he has a problem and he also doesn't force his daughter to do drugs or do things that she doesn't want to do. Also he didn't become a drug addict cause it was cool or whatever, he was struggling with the same illness that his daughter has, so when he was her age he was experiencing extremely painful stomach aches and he couldn't get the help that he needed so drugs was wat he thought would help him cope and most likely at the time he wouldn't have thought he would become an addict.

    For the people saying , "OMG she should just take the medicine (drugs) and the pain will be over , why is she complaining " It's not that easy to say "Yes give me the medicine (drugs)" when you see ur dad everyday cutting his arms and doing all sorts of things cause he was a drug addict. You should see by the title it clearly says "I DONT WANT TO BE LIKE MY DAD" which clearly states that she is trying her best to stay out of drugs and not to end up in worse case scenarios.

    • @Little_book_pumpkin
      @Little_book_pumpkin 5 лет назад +95

      I suppose it depends because some people gag too much and so they can't handle having something down their throat without being sedated. It all would depend on the person. If I had to have one, I would be the same.

    • @InnerSlayer
      @InnerSlayer 5 лет назад +24

      Most of the time, patients who aren't sedated drink something that numbs the throat and esophagus. That prevents the pain and gag reflex.

    • @Little_book_pumpkin
      @Little_book_pumpkin 5 лет назад +11

      @@InnerSlayer I see, thanks for giving us that information. It's kinda like when you go to the dentist and they numb your mouth when you have work done. Although for some people it doesn't always completely numb them, it depends on the person. So I assume this was the same in this situation and for some people, they need sedating for this reason.

      Ive done a endoscopy 3 times. First time was ok. Second time, for whatever reason i didnt digest the food i ate 12 hours prior and...it was one of the worst experiences ive ever had. It hurts and you feel the tube moving inside you. Then i started vomiting and drowning in vomit with that things inside me casuing pain and even more gag reflex and vomiting. Because of that they couldnt get a clear picture as my stomach wasnt empty. So i had to do it again. Because of my awful torture experience, the third time as soon as i started to feel bad i said fuck it and stopped the whole thing. I think i have ptsd of that shit. My throat hurt like HELL for 2 days. Also from vomiting so much my insides hurt too. It was 5 minutes of waterboarding in my own vomit. That little spray numbing the throat is all they had. It helps only a little bit for the tube scraping the throat thats it.
