My mom just have me her old one that was hardly used. I had a few people tell me I kinda hit the jackpot as it's a great learning camera. Still trying to get the hang of low light shooting with it but so far it's fun.
I have a couple of videos on low light photography, but the 5100 is such an amazing camera to learn with!! It's advanced enough to really grow into, but simple enough to get used to! I just bought a second one since my first one died
I really love ur editing. I am Ovidiu Stan and I am trying for 2 years to be a pro (17 yrs btw) and I was telling myself that my Nikon d5100 is over date but when I saw what U and ur photos, I think i have hope with my camera. Thank you very much for this video and I hope that you will have a bright future in RUclips. Have a nice Day 😁🤘🏻.
Awesome video! Thanks for the shout out! I think running a prime like a 50mm for street photography is the way to go. I think I should have zoomed in on a lot of the pictures I took. I think that's the whole creative limitations sometimes give better results thing. Looking forward to our next colab!
I'm looking forward to that as well! There is a podcast I listen to and he talks about creative limitations and their benefits, it's called adventures in creativity! He was part of the photo collab too!
@pinkhatphotography is there a way to see the shutter, appeture and ISO changes in LiveView, before taking the photo? I cannot see my changes in LiveView
Hello! When I adjust the shutter the exposure does not change in the live view. Still cant find the right settings. Can you help me with this? Nikon d5100
How can I get better pictures with my d5100, I have been using manual but every setting g I use gives me grainy pictures, or dark pictures I can't get good pictures qt basketball, my sons last yr in high school help
Hi there, i just got my first DSLR d5100 but looks like i can’t update the firmware on the website, coz it doesn’t support Catalina latest OS.Do you have any suggestions
Sorry for the delay, just got off work! I picked f1.8 (where I could) to give myself some creative limitations. Having a razor thin point of focus makes me slow down and really take my time to get into my creative mindset!
Of course! When I'm doing a freestyle shoot, street, landscape, urban, I try and give myself different limitations to keep it fresh and try new things. Sometimes it's the fstop, sometimes I hold myself to a higher iso, or a certain shutter speed! I might have to do a video on it
I don't have a lot of experience using the black and white setting, I didn't like the results of shooting in monochrome I usually adjust to black and white in my editing stage
Thanks for this Nick, any chance you can do a explanation on how to do night shot setting on the D5100, it driving me mad constant to dark to take shots, very much a beginner, I have a 18-55 lens and a 70-300, thank you again
I legit thought I broke my camera because the pictures were black... noob... thank you for explainin all this. I can actually see my photos now in manual mode 🙈
I'm glad I was able to help! I have a full playlist on manual mode and what all the different settings do as well! If you ever have any questions feel free to reach out!
Hi Maureen, check if all these have the right settings. 1) on the lens, the slider control to switch between manual and auto focus 2) in the camera setting, switch the auto focus "on" 3) in the camera setting , set the focus mode to "continuous mode" if these options are all right, then your camera must be able to auto focus. but if not then there definitely may be a shutter release problem as you said. just check if the shutter release actually works or not. ? is it able to shoot a photo (in manual focus) you can also try and get a remote shutter release and try if the semi-click helps in focusing.(this will clear the doubt if the fault is with the shutter release button on the camera) if nothing works, the same ---- head straight to the authorized service center :)
This camera doesn't have an internal focus motor either, switching to it from my d70 caused some headache for me because my older lenses would not auto focus with it
@@PinkhatPhotography I like your videos, I am a d5100 user as well.. I know there are lots of new cameras out there, but this thing still good though..
Yeah it really is! I did a studio shoot with it this last December, I have the video posted, and used it again in Jan or Feb. I had a d5300 but ended up selling it. I really do love the d5100, it's one I'll never let go of
Thank you so much. I watched many videos, but I didn't get a clear idea. Your video is awesome! You saved my day!

Thank you so much! I really love my d5100, it's such a hardy little camera that keeps going, when it does fail I'll definitely be buying another one!
Very helpful. I don't own a D5100 but often thought of how you change the aperture. Never took the time to read its manual.
It took some time to figure out when I first upgraded from the D70, since the D70 had two dials. One for your speed and one for aperture
@@PinkhatPhotography Exactly. I still have the D70s. The D3xx and D5xx are just very foreign to me.
I love my d70 hahaha and my d70s

How can I set D5100 manual mode with nikon 30-700mm 1:4.5-6.3g lens!?

Yongnou 50mm f1.8 I believe

My shutter on M won’t go above 1/200th. Why does yours go up so high?
That's an odd one, the d5100 usually tops out at 1/4000 of a second, you might be in strobe mode and it will cut off at 1/200
I had flash set to ttl. Changed it to manual and now shutter will go up! My pop up flash clip broke so flash is stuck up all the time
