Brother you missed the point of the Taylor swift bar. He’s trying to say that Kendrick is just as much of a pop sellout as he is. He’s not knocking Kendrick for doing those features, he’s knocking him for pretending he’s better than Drake for being a “real rapper” while Drake is viewed as a pop rapper.
You missed the point. Drake was implying that top forced Kendrick to do those songs and then “drop and give him 50”
Is doing 2 pop verses in a decade the same as releasing entire pop albums? Seems like the perspective is missing a bit here, "just as much" is a bit much

😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😐
you guys may not have known this, but 4 years after his birth, he turned 4 years old.
I think you misunderstood the shots about Maroon 5/T Swift. Drake isn't shy about being a pop artist, but Kendrick has this persona built up around him being a 'rapper's rapper'. So Drake is pointing out how even Kendrick 'sold out' and did pop songs.
EXACTLY
Exactly that or he’s saying Top Dawg forced Kendrick to go in that pop route, while still having to cut them 50% and getting cut from the label. He’s definitely playing with the idea that because he’s a label owner, Drake atleast gets all of the spoils of selling out and isn’t at risk of being cut from his label.
No. Kendrick raps on his features. Drake sang his butt off with JB on right heeeeere right heeeeere right heeeere. 😂😂😂
People created that persona for Kendrick, not him. You are making this seem like Kendrick was at one point a super underground and artsy dude that went pop star and sold out, as opposed to just some guy wanting to make interesting music. It's not like GKMC didn't have trendy production or anything. This point kind of dismantles itself because Mr. Morale is very much not an accesible or commercially tinged album at all, so his point kinda falls flag. This seems kind of a projection from Drake, the guy who at one point wanted to be taken seriously and respected in hip hop but always being belittled for being "too pop", specifically because Drake never had the critical acclaim Kendrick has, so he tries to dismiss his genuine artistry by pointing the 2 or 3 times he "went mainstream", which is kinda weak imo.
@@KnightofAntiquity that’s not an odd thing from Drake though. Drake made sing rapping cool and applicable a long time ago. Just because you rap on a pop single doesn’t make it hip hop. You can sing on some rap shit and it’s still hip hop 🤷♂️
Drake mentioning Kendrick doing Pop music is actually potent because it speaks to Kendrick lack of "control" over his career... Kendrick did not make those songs from his own volition.... Drake is pretty much saying Kdot is a foot soldier that have to listen to orders from his boss.

The point about the Maroon 5 and Taylor Swift bar is that Kendrick, despite being the guy who's supposed to be the Hip Hop purist (unlike Drake) *also* does have to do those pop song verses because his label tells him too.

Regarding the taylor swift maroon 5 line, drakes point seems more to be “top dawg MADE YOU do this, when I go into pop, its MY IDEA”
7:43 Drake is making an internal critique here. No one doubts that Drake has a pop appeal, but his point is that Kendrick can't hold that against him because he's done the same thing; and, as a matter of fact, it is more incongruous with Kendrick's aesthetic of "pure artistry" than it is for Drake, who is openly mainstream.

Microwaved leftover beef
Unlikely. The masses dont care enough for the craft and intricacies of hip hop beef where you have to start dissecting constant bars, references, and current events. Not digestible enough. Cant shake ya ass to it enough. If anything it could be trying to keep rap on a lifeline through the actual hip hop heads who been turning their backs on mainstream rap alongside casual listeners, especially when underground rap is going through an epic area under self funded independent. Either bring mainstream shit somewhat back to where it use to be and give it to the people who always kept it alive or they can bring their money and attention to the independent artists and subculture who will feed them what they want instead.

I think the difference between drake and Kendrick, Drake is pop and Kendrick is the serious rapper’s rapper. seeing drake on a pop song makes sense but seeing Kendrick on a pop song could portray him being a “sell out” or at the very least chipping at the image that Kendrick is only conceptual/lyrical rapper’s rappers.

Solid won't be enough for the kendrick beef imo. His ghost writers have to pull out their best
Great video - one thing I want to disagree with you on is the Maroon 5/Swifties bar interpretation. I don't think Drake was trying to say that it's bad to go pop, it's just that Kendrick is viewed as someone with impeccable artistic integrity whereas Drake is seen as a pop act, yet Kendrick did two songs that are arguably more shamelessly crossover-oriented than anything Drake has done. Drake even acknowledges his status as a pop artist on songs like 'Popstar'. But he's also implying Kendrick had to do it for financial reasons because his label was taking so much of his publishing.
I don’t think Drake is claiming that he is not pop. He’s saying Kendrick acts like he’s the messiah of rap, and Drake is saying he’s just a puppet. He’s doing it because top told him to and top still takes 50

@@nameisaminehow are we hypocrit ? Since when rapper don’t do features with pop artists ? In the pass kdot dis features with beyonce too so what ? But he still rapping in the music drake literally DROP A POP ALBUM AMD AGAIN HE DONT WRIIIIIIIITE ! So yes is dumb
you also missed the point of the line lol. It's bc kendrick didn't want to do the verses but Top Dawg made him do it - hence the lyric in the refrain following that being changed to "top told you drop and give them 50" and not "top told you drop and give me 50".
@@Rock.lee7736 There's this whole narrative spinning Drake and Kdot as polar opposites, with Drake as the face of rap's top 40 mainstream commercialism, and Kendrick's being touted as the holy grail of hip-hop purity, holding down the fort for true hip-hop heads. But Drake wants to remind purists that Kendrick is not so pure, he recorded "Don't Wanna Know" with Maroon 5 which is bubblier than bubblegum (he sounded so out of place on that record). Not to mention Kendrick's first no.1 was hand-delivered to him by Taylor Swift.
So if Drake is a "sell out" for making Pop-leaning songs, then so is Kenny, because Kendrick did those Pop features for a paycheck, not the passion; for the cash, and not the culture.
Drake embraces pop because it's part of his style. Kendrick on the other hand? Drake claims Top forced him to do those verses, then took 50% for himself. The lyrics highlighted Kendrick's lack of control over his career, as well as kdot fans' hypocrisy for throwing in Drake's face that, Kendrick was always "too pure" to chase mainstream Pop appeal.
surprised you dismissed the rick ross track so quickly, i thought it was pretty good. great beat and i loved ross' casual flow. also respect him for actually dropping it on streaming
it was trash
I don’t understand, people are talking about Kendrick doing pop music with Taylor and Maroon 5.
Did people forget that the second most popular song off of DAMN (and second most popular song in his catalog behind Humble numbers wise) was LOVE? The song is literally called LOVE. 😂 “I wanna be wit you yeah”
Kendrick’s diss was a just a feature on someone else’s track. Everyone’s celebrating Drake as if it’s over. Imagine the response Kendrick is about to send out when it’s just him on a full song? After he name dropped his wife??? The battle really begins now.
kendrick going to respond in the next 10 years hahaha
Kendrick could fart on the mic and you would glaze it, he can’t lose he’s got hiphop fans on there knees. Drake drops a fire diss and people still try to downplay it 😂 imagine drake said fuck the big 3 it’s big me you would clown
@@littleboy1273 replace all Drakes with Kendrick and all Kendricks with Drakes and you'll see that you aren't saying anything special or different than the opposing side
@@littleboy1273 all drake did was call the guy short and talk about sales lmao you easily impressed and 100% ghay
@@prepaidtrash5552 conveniently forgot to mention the other things he spoke about which Fantano the ultimate Drake hater even went through in the video? Not to mention he’s literally rapping about 5 other people in a 4 minute song how much do you want the guy to fit in, just say you’re a hater it’s fine 😂
I'm not on team drake but i have to say....He makes a good final boss battle lmfao
LMAO
Fr, he thinks he’s Sukuna 😂
facts lol.. I really don’t think drake anywhere near kendrick but he definitely a seasoned battle rapper
@@brandonstott3841 Man's told Metro to shut up and he didn't even say anything lmao. Told him to stick to drums and I was like "valid point"
Went back to Kendrick's The Heart series and thought of this:
"The Dunning-Kruger effect is a cognitive bias in which people with limited competence in a particular domain overestimate their abilities."
If you can't hear the difference between Kendrick's delivery, lyricism and body of work versus Drake. It's self explanatory for those who can hear it, if you can't hear it, just know it's there but you have some work to do on yourself, your ear and priorities. Which is why these people talk numbers in music conversations
Kendrick's approach to this will be very interesting, in fact it'll probably be a comedy record.
That Interscope line is soooooooo over done. Been used in battle rap so many times
Crazy that folks are blown away by it in 2024
Its an oldddddddd bar. But his delivery was slick with it
Who else has used it?
The bar was whatever, his twang on the first leak made it fun though. Less so on the official release, but still noteworthy.
ab soul did it better on bloody waters “the aftermath is, you in the scope”
Why are we letting him get away with this transparent cop out of “leaking” it and not putting it out officially anywhere
That's all I'm saying 😂 letting him off the hook completely
fr it's really suspicious how every other track has been released officially and his is the only one that was "leaked". Rick Ross pointed it out on his response and it does make sense
You people really tell on yourselves with comments like this. Drake has not traditionally put his diss tracks on streaming; back to back was a radio song first, duppy was on SoundCloud. Drake doesn’t want the coin for his diss songs, he just wants the message to be understood. It’s all about the battle (until it isn’t).
I see it going two ways
1. Drake doesn’t want this to be his “legacy” like he had with his alleged clap back to Push. Not putting it out officially but still having it available to the masses on way or the other lets him get his word in while not having it properly hang over him.
2. Drake is directly countering Kendrick’s claims that he’s a hit chaser and he can have people go crazy over a track that isn’t even officially released
Either or at this point
@Fash0da You do realize Radio and Soundcloud are 100% legit ways to drop and premiere tracks right? Because then people know you are the one dropping it and it's more of a statement. If something "leaks" you can easily just claim it was never meant to be heard.
Not sure if i’m reaching, but one very clear shot that everybody seems to be missing is Pusha T.
The official cover art to Push Ups HAS to be a reference to MNIMN. No other reason to drop a barcode.
& the fact that Drake has been growing out his hair and getting braids is most likely his response to Push’s only non lethal verse on The Story of Adidon. aka “scared to grow it cause your fro won’t nap enough”
You didn’t catch the “aftermath” bar immediately after the interscope reference. Which is also an imprint of interscope.
Chip & Dale bar is relevant due to Future’s alias being “pluto” so that’s a cool little double entendre then he references “baby mom” & said “kiss and tell” which is also the title of a Ciara track. & we all know who’s baby mom that is lol
Ngl Anthony is the first person I’ve heard who hated that Rick Ross diss.
I thought it was a bit weak as a diss, not enough heat or focus to it
He just wanted to be an edgy 40 year old. That's it. Lol.
Literally everyone said it was trash Ross didn’t say anything we didn’t know about. Drake talks about how Wayne helped his career.💀 Drake took Rick Ross girl and gave her tickets and backstage passes to his show💀 and gave him some of his biggest hits 🤣
Nah I thought it was hard too and it sounds a lot better as well, His digs at Drake are better like idk how people are hating on it, N Drake fans will just always ignore the Ghost writing and that's crazy to me 😂
@@SonnyGambino69 who’s the ghostwriter then
Drake let out his inner beast 🥲
Difference is that he chooses to do that but when k dot did it it’s more calculated by the label tying back to the 50% bar
the sample of the song is whats beef by bigge
I cant believe even DJ akademiks got a shoutout in the song that was hilarious 😅🤣
You forgot the most exciting part: there's definitely gonna be another LosPollos collab when all this is over
ionno about the others but kdot and drizzy been sneak dissing each other for a long time now their beef makes sense
The maroon 5/swiftie line was implying that kendrick probly wouldn't have done that on his own accord, but since Top/tde told him to, he did. At least thats what i always wanted to believe
I think the "splits/split your pants" bar was really corny and the whole pushups motif is a bit meh, but he definitely cooked everywhere else. Flow was nice, a lot of good lines, that drum line at Metro is fucking hilarious.
However, for a guy who backed off the Pusha battle because Push went too far, he was quick to say Kendrick's wifes name on the track.
womp womp
@@bryson0206😭😭😭😭😭
Drake lightly mentions their wives somehow neccesetates making fun of their dying friend. Can yall stop riding pusha
Stop yapping
@@yugatrasclart4439 yeah dude, actually mentioning my wife would get me way more hype. feel bad for your lady tho, really on some 'bros over hoes' shit even when it's your wife huh? wild tbh
You're just skipping the Whitney line?
Of course he is, he’s Kendrick’s Lawyer.
It's not a good bar. Did you like miss MMTBS?
This what, the 3rd time he rappin about another niggas wife, last time it got his son exposed. Id be careful if i was him. Just sayin
@@KnightofAntiquityit os a good bar but ok
Everyone pretends they didn’t hear it
I think beefing with 5 dudes might be an advatage since he does z need to go in depth abt every si gle one, like one solid line for asap, ross, future and the weekend are enough, and its easier to find 1 diss per person for five differe t guys, than 5 disses for 1 person
Glad you put in that RDCWorld vid, it's wayyy too funny
