How to Rig a Kite Rod for Meat Fishing - Wind On System

- In this video we show you how to rig up a kite rod for springtime meat fishing. The kite rod set up for meat fishing versus sailfishing is different. We recommend a wind-on approach that makes it much easier to reel the fish closer to the boat for an easier gaff shot. Enjoy the video and feel free to post a comment if you have any questions.

Great Vid!!!
Got 6th place in us open kMT using g your set up! I like a trailing hook but works without it most times I find.
Very cool!
Very informative video , keep up the good work man ! 💪😎🇺🇸
Glad you enjoyed!
Awesome video 👍
great video
Are you not using a ceramic/steel ring to attach the line to the kite clip? Also, what if you need a weight to keep a Pilchard or lighter bait in the water when wind is blowing?
I was wondering the same thing
No we are not using a ceramic ring. The line still fishes perfect fine in the clip without it. If the wind is blowing too hard to keep smaller baits in the water like a pilchard or sardine you can easily add a rubber core weight to the line. Great questions!
Great video, what style costas are those.?
Those are the Corbina frame. One of my favorites on the water!
How are you keeping track of the bait? No indicator?
Once you have a visual of the bait on the surface, so long as your kite is flying stable, there is usually not much of a need to adjust the bait after that. But you still want to make sure the person that is manning the kite is periodically checking the bait to make sure it is relatively close to the surface. Good question!
I have my talicas spooled with 65 lb power pro for bottom fishing, do you think i can still kite fish with it or do i need mono?
You can definitely fish it on your kite rods but you should fish a longer mono leader around 30 to 40 feet for stretch
