These look great! I'd like to see a robe for Princess Leia, like a shrunk-down version of the vintage 12-inch one.

Genius Dave, the fabric capes do look so much better even though there’s a huge charm to the vinyl capes.
But again the fact you make the patterns available to anyone for free is testament to the amazing service you continue to give our community, bravo sir bravo👍

Dave you're a genius mate. You make what's very difficult seem very, very simple. The brown Kenobi cape is amazing, as is the Tuskan Raider and the the Vader one. I wish I had the skills to make them all. I love your videos.

Awesome! This would’ve been amazing back In the day. I also always wanted them to issue versions of the original extender lightsaber figures (Ben, Vader, and Luke) with updated versions that just came with little swords, but they never did that either!

Yeah, the chocolate brown works well for Ben Kenobi, if you remember the vinyl cape jawa had a reddish brown vinyl like Ben Kenobi does but when the jawa got the soft goods cloak upgrade kenner moved to dark brown which was more movie accurate so I think your dark brown one was spot on what Kenner would have done if they ever updated Ben's cloak. Design wise, It looks near enough like a 4-Lom coat with Luke Poncho hood so is exactly how kenner would have designed it too. What is next for Toy Polloi to design, custom soft goods ewok hoods perhaps?

  • @manko8852

    Heya Dave! Great as Always!
A suave sophisticated Bespin Cape is a great idea for the accessorised Lando , buuuut- Poor Chewbacca is being left wanting again! What is a Poor Wookie to do? He cant turn up on Life Day Totally Naked without so much as a Stitch To Wear! With All that Emperor's Royal Guard Material lying around surely Poor Chewie can be Kitted Out in Some Thread's? Vote Chewbacca for A Life Day Ceremonial Gown with a Ball Bearing as his Orb! Also make it a Double Feature as you can Kit Out Princess Leia in Her 'Help Me Obi- Wan Kenobi' hooded Gown! That would be a seriously Cool Episode!
    My Very Best As Ever!

I used to love making capes for my old Batman action figures when I was young. The ones that originally came with the figures were either hard plastic or too short and not long.
This video sure takes me back to those days.

I’ve always really wanted a clothgoods version of those Tan Winter Coats that the Joes would wear in the snow on the cartoon. It usually seemed like they were just wearing them over their regular individualized uniforms, so they would be great for winter operations for both GI joe and Cobra figures. Seems like cutting your hoodless robe to a mid thigh length and adding a belt would do the trick. Maybe adding a high collar as well.

Your sewing stitch is getting better and better. Nice job! Obi's sleeves seem just a bit too long for the figure, but it would be easy enough to trim the sleeves. I think the Tusken Raider's robe/cape might look better with 3/4th sleeves so that the forearms are more visible.

Top shelf once again Mr.Dave. it amazes me how something so simple can make such a difference. Only suggestion would maybe be make the sleeves just short enough to see the hands. Im torn on which color I like better. From a design standpoint I think the darker, but from a retro standpoint the more orange one. Can't decide. Either way excellent job once again.

I have always thought Warduke would look amazing in a cape, perhaps scalloped or weathered, probably red. I also feel there are several MOTU figures screaming out for armless capes with and without hoods. Cobra Commander, specifically hooded, would benefit from robes or a cape. For display purposes, various capes and robes for Greedo, Hammerhead, Walrus Man, and Snaggletooth would help add depth to a Tatooine or spaceport crowd.

Interestingly, Yoda's cape fits other Star Wars figures quite easily. I used to swap capes around on my figures.
There was a really nice Jedi cape in one of the 'Phantom Menace' accessory packs. Likewise, another pack had a Sith cape in it. Wish I'd bought more, now.
Your cape looks perfect - as if it was an original Kenner/Palitoy item. Nice one. 👍👍👍

For me these capes/robes look substantially better than those you get with the current Vintage Collection 3.75 figures, on most occasions I chose not to use the ones that come with the current figures as they look so bad. Hasbro should employ you to design their robbes/capes because they look way better!
