Genius Dave, the fabric capes do look so much better even though there’s a huge charm to the vinyl capes. But again the fact you make the patterns available to anyone for free is testament to the amazing service you continue to give our community, bravo sir bravo👍
Dave you're a genius mate. You make what's very difficult seem very, very simple. The brown Kenobi cape is amazing, as is the Tuskan Raider and the the Vader one. I wish I had the skills to make them all. I love your videos.
Awesome! This would’ve been amazing back In the day. I also always wanted them to issue versions of the original extender lightsaber figures (Ben, Vader, and Luke) with updated versions that just came with little swords, but they never did that either!
Awesome work. If you ever get around to doing vintage Ninja turtles figures, I have a number of naked Splinters in my collection that could do with a kimono
You are such an easygoing, patient teacher. Generous, too, with the printable designs, decals, tips, pointers, etc. and free of charge! Thank you for all that you do!
Awesome. I love your videos. I have alot of 79-85 star wars figures that I use in my videos, and you've helped me restore some and maintain others. Thank you
I don't remember seeing the Darth Vader cape...probably did, anyway it looks cool. The Obi-Wan capes are the bee's knees though! Very cool! I like the Tuskin cape but I really like the Obi-Wan chocolate brown cape the best. Great work and really neat idea.
Yeah, the chocolate brown works well for Ben Kenobi, if you remember the vinyl cape jawa had a reddish brown vinyl like Ben Kenobi does but when the jawa got the soft goods cloak upgrade kenner moved to dark brown which was more movie accurate so I think your dark brown one was spot on what Kenner would have done if they ever updated Ben's cloak. Design wise, It looks near enough like a 4-Lom coat with Luke Poncho hood so is exactly how kenner would have designed it too. What is next for Toy Polloi to design, custom soft goods ewok hoods perhaps?
Heya Dave! Great as Always! A suave sophisticated Bespin Cape is a great idea for the accessorised Lando , buuuut- Poor Chewbacca is being left wanting again! What is a Poor Wookie to do? He cant turn up on Life Day Totally Naked without so much as a Stitch To Wear! With All that Emperor's Royal Guard Material lying around surely Poor Chewie can be Kitted Out in Some Thread's? Vote Chewbacca for A Life Day Ceremonial Gown with a Ball Bearing as his Orb! Also make it a Double Feature as you can Kit Out Princess Leia in Her 'Help Me Obi- Wan Kenobi' hooded Gown! That would be a seriously Cool Episode! My Very Best As Ever!
I used to love making capes for my old Batman action figures when I was young. The ones that originally came with the figures were either hard plastic or too short and not long. This video sure takes me back to those days.
These are fantastic and really elevate the vintage figures. I'm gonna give this a go on my capeless figures. Oh and mum's gonna teach me to sew too. Skills.
Nice work!! There was a neat brown Jedi robe in one of the Episode I accessory packs that works great for the vintage Obi-Wan. I've had my figure wearing it for years.
I’ve always really wanted a clothgoods version of those Tan Winter Coats that the Joes would wear in the snow on the cartoon. It usually seemed like they were just wearing them over their regular individualized uniforms, so they would be great for winter operations for both GI joe and Cobra figures. Seems like cutting your hoodless robe to a mid thigh length and adding a belt would do the trick. Maybe adding a high collar as well.
Simply brilliant. Thanks to your other videos I ordered a range of that fabric to use on some my vintage and retro collection figures. Maybe a poncho for farm boy Luke is a future idea. Thanks again!
Well… back to the fabric store I go. I may try the dark one and paint a beater Obi tan. It really make the figure very interesting. Love the original. But I like this too. I will make room for vinyl and cloth Obis in my collection. Very clever.
This is fantastic! I loved your Vader cape and intend to make that one soon, but I also currently have my RotJ Luke cloak on my Obi-Wan and you're right, it just looks wrong. So glad you made this video!
Your sewing stitch is getting better and better. Nice job! Obi's sleeves seem just a bit too long for the figure, but it would be easy enough to trim the sleeves. I think the Tusken Raider's robe/cape might look better with 3/4th sleeves so that the forearms are more visible.
Top shelf once again Mr.Dave. it amazes me how something so simple can make such a difference. Only suggestion would maybe be make the sleeves just short enough to see the hands. Im torn on which color I like better. From a design standpoint I think the darker, but from a retro standpoint the more orange one. Can't decide. Either way excellent job once again.
I have always thought Warduke would look amazing in a cape, perhaps scalloped or weathered, probably red. I also feel there are several MOTU figures screaming out for armless capes with and without hoods. Cobra Commander, specifically hooded, would benefit from robes or a cape. For display purposes, various capes and robes for Greedo, Hammerhead, Walrus Man, and Snaggletooth would help add depth to a Tatooine or spaceport crowd.
Thanks alot for this cape! Ill def have to make one when I get back from my vacation 🙂 And I bet this also will work for Endor Han Solo. Boy was I struggeling to get a pattern down for that dress. If I only had known that Dave was going to do one for Obi a few month later 😄
I have a vintage Kenner Kenobi figure from 1978 which I'm considering repainting with tan paint to make it look more film accurate. I need another lightsaber blade and one of those fabric robes, but my sewing skills suck due to my eyesight.
Interestingly, Yoda's cape fits other Star Wars figures quite easily. I used to swap capes around on my figures. There was a really nice Jedi cape in one of the 'Phantom Menace' accessory packs. Likewise, another pack had a Sith cape in it. Wish I'd bought more, now. Your cape looks perfect - as if it was an original Kenner/Palitoy item. Nice one. 👍👍👍 How about Princess Leia's cape, or Luke's poncho?
Nice work as always Dave! Ho bout a cape for Princess leia? Could make it from a thin white sort of silk cloth? More like the one she wears when we first see her in star wars. Think if I remember right, it also had a hood ( before being stun gunned by the stormtroopers. )
You could do this... or just swap the robes that come with the brand new soft goods Obi Wan Kenobi Retro Collection for Vader and Kenobi..... You're welcome 👍🏼😉
Awesome upgrade Dave! The chocolate brown one us definitely the one. Didn't farm boy Luke have a robe/cape of some description when he's staring off over the dunes in the glare of the twin suns?
Fantastic capes, you really have mastered them. Have you done a replacement Han trench coat before? I was looking to get one and the prices are mad even for battered ones!
@@toypolloi The one with the Endor camouflage on it? Have you tried ironing on a camou pattern on that fabric you’ve been using? How well does that fabric take iron on prints?
For me these capes/robes look substantially better than those you get with the current Vintage Collection 3.75 figures, on most occasions I chose not to use the ones that come with the current figures as they look so bad. Hasbro should employ you to design their robbes/capes because they look way better! Great job, shame you don't have a store to sell these on because I would for sure be buying some!
Aah, back when the Tusken Raiders were extremely dangerous, mindless, marauding desert bandits, rather than the civilised and cultured, easy-going-once-you-get-to-know-them, sign-language-using tribespeople of Disney Star Wars. Dave, I must admit I was slightly disappointed you didn't give a, "Hello there!" at 14:36! 😊
I wish Kenner had reissued Ben Obi Wan Kenobi later in the series with a cloth cape. The vinyl cape with wrong color clothes under it still bothers me to this day. He's supposed to be wearing tan clothes under the brown cape.
Kudos to you sir, thank you for generously sharing your love of toy collecting/modifying to the rest of the community for free! You are a class act!
These look great! I'd like to see a robe for Princess Leia, like a shrunk-down version of the vintage 12-inch one.
I second this suggestion!
I would love to see that to!
Great work!
Genius Dave, the fabric capes do look so much better even though there’s a huge charm to the vinyl capes.
But again the fact you make the patterns available to anyone for free is testament to the amazing service you continue to give our community, bravo sir bravo👍
Thanks Luke. These ones aren't free 😉 sometimes I need to make a bit of money to keep the website running ☺️
@@toypolloi apologies, but still a brilliant service and far cheaper than buying customs ready made

Hey Dave
The capes look great.
As someone below said, Princess Leia would look good in one.
Take care 🙂
You've done it again Dave! Going to do this on the weekend. My Vader came out great and I think I have an extra Obi-Wan .
Fantastic!
You're always making something cool, even cooler! Thanks.
Awesome work. If you ever get around to doing vintage Ninja turtles figures, I have a number of naked Splinters in my collection that could do with a kimono
Toy Polloi, Jedi Cape Master!
I really do love how these turned out. Definitely a missed opportunity for Kenner Star Wars
You are such an easygoing, patient teacher. Generous, too, with the printable designs, decals, tips, pointers, etc. and free of charge! Thank you for all that you do!
Wow, those look great Dave. Loved the video. Those capes really make the figures stand out. I hope you can do a Princess Leia with hood.
Looks fantastic Dave! Awesome job as always. A super upgrade to the vintage figures...still can't get over how awesome Vader looks.
Thanks again!
Awesome. I love your videos. I have alot of 79-85 star wars figures that I use in my videos, and you've helped me restore some and maintain others. Thank you
These are great! How about making one for farm boy Luke. The one in this vid would also work for Leia!
Amazing robe!!! Looks more accurate to the movie
Great looking robes and Vader cape, BTW.
I don't remember seeing the Darth Vader cape...probably did, anyway it looks cool. The Obi-Wan capes are the bee's knees though! Very cool! I like the Tuskin cape but I really like the Obi-Wan chocolate brown cape the best. Great work and really neat idea.

That's a great upgrade, some bean counter in finance told them to keep stamping out the vinyl capes to save money.

-Tatooine Luke poncho
-Princess Leia white cape
-Endor Han trenchcoat
Absolutely brilliant!!! I can't wait to try this!! Thanks again for sharing your skills and ideas!! Aloha!!
You are so welcome!
Nice work!! There was a neat brown Jedi robe in one of the Episode I accessory packs that works great for the vintage Obi-Wan. I've had my figure wearing it for years.

Simply brilliant. Thanks to your other videos I ordered a range of that fabric to use on some my vintage and retro collection figures. Maybe a poncho for farm boy Luke is a future idea. Thanks again!
Great work Dave. Your sewing skills get better every time. The dark brown one gets my vote. Thanks Ant.

Nice, maybe one for the Emperor too, would be interesting to see
Such a great upgrade! I think a more movie accurate cape of Bespin Leia would be nice to see, but seems kinda hard to make with the shoulder piece.
Would look great on the 12" version as well, lots of possibilities, that pattern is nearly there for a Jawa robe as well.
I would like to see you make custom accessories and weapons for these figures.
This is fantastic! I loved your Vader cape and intend to make that one soon, but I also currently have my RotJ Luke cloak on my Obi-Wan and you're right, it just looks wrong. So glad you made this video!

I have a Serpentor from the gi joe line missing a cape. Could you do one for him if you have one in your collection. Thanks
These capes look awesome....good to watch your videos.
Thanks 👍
I’m going to make one of these. Thanks for the video!

Not a cape, but I would love to see your ideas for a flight jacket for the Mattel Starbuck figure.
Hello there. What an excellent idea, definitely going to consider this since the cape on my original Obi-Wan is torn
Go for it!
Love the creativity and approach …. Keep up the great content ….
Thanks, will do!
Thanks alot for this cape!

Cool capes.
Awesomeness 👍💖
Id like to see your take on han solo's trenchcoat with the idea of improving on the original.

Your are so talented
Would you custom paint the Obi-wan figure to be movie accurate? With your cloak it would look great.
These are all awesome do you think you could find a way to make yodas belt?
Very nice!
Nice work as always Dave! Ho bout a cape for Princess leia? Could make it from a thin white sort of silk cloth? More like the one she wears when we first see her in star wars. Think if I remember right, it also had a hood ( before being stun gunned by the stormtroopers. )
Love it!
Those custom capes really look so much better than the vinyl versions, which I'm really not a fan of.
You could do this... or just swap the robes that come with the brand new soft goods Obi Wan Kenobi Retro Collection for Vader and Kenobi.....
You're welcome 👍🏼😉
You could. But then you have a brand new Obi wan Kenobi without a cape. So you are no better off. You're welcome 👍😉
Excellent
Have you done a hoodless Jawa cape? Like the vinyl one?
Not yet.
I think the fabric cape Tusken raider looks fare better 👍
Awesome upgrade Dave! The chocolate brown one us definitely the one.
Didn't farm boy Luke have a robe/cape of some description when he's staring off over the dunes in the glare of the twin suns?
I love these capes. I've recently picked up a capeless Jawa. Can't make patterns though. Hope u get to Jawas eventually. Lmao.
Thanks. The Jawa is on the list to do.
Fantastic capes, you really have mastered them. Have you done a replacement Han trench coat before? I was looking to get one and the prices are mad even for battered ones!
Thanks. I haven't made Hans coat yet, but I don't think it would be that difficult if I can find a good fabric match.
@@toypolloi The one with the Endor camouflage on it? Have you tried ironing on a camou pattern on that fabric you’ve been using? How well does that fabric take iron on prints?
This fabric would not take that well. Hans coat is made of something different that I am still trying to find a good modern equivalent.
Could be used for the Emperor in black
hey toy polloi, if you find a broken tmnt figure can you do a review to repair it😁😁, I'll be happy if you do that
Absolutely bad ass
Great video again, although it isn't a cape, it's a cloak. Capes end around the hips/waist. A cloak reaches past the knees to the ankles :)
🤷
Potato potato 🍅 🍅. It's for a toy. Not a Paris fashion show.
Man... that thumbnail sucked me in! 😉👌🏼

You should sell these capes.
How proper is this? Your figure scared my Sand People, snapped the hood back, and said, *"Hello, there"*
It’s awesome. Your brilliant!
Thank you! Cheers!
