- As part of the Texas Parks and Wildlife Neighborhood Fishin' program, TPWD goes all over Texas stocking local ponds, lakes, and rivers with a variety of different species, such as Channel Catfish, Rainbow Trout, etc. Today TPWD was stocking Rainbow Trout at Lakeview Park located in Corpus Christi, Texas. Great seeing yall eating, the catfish yall caught
We wanted to try out the Rainbow Trout but they didn't want to bite. The catfish came out great but I still rather have a Redfish.
Usually when they're just put in they won't eat power bait that good but if you throw a spoon or a rooster tail you'll have 5 or 6 coming up and trying to eat it from my experience but I mostly use a fly rod
On this day nothing worked unfortunately. On the following days they weren't biting on anything else either. I guess they were scared with all the birds and got eaten by some of them. Lol
I was just there this morning and it's so muddy after the little bit of rain and mist we had just made the mud there slick as snot on glass ! and only 1or 2 spots where you can actually fish without all the brush in the way ! and also no nibbles !
Yeah there isn't that many spots where you can actually fish and not be obstructed with brush. Thankfully when we went it was dry but yeah I can imagine all that mud with all the rain.
I've known about the program. They even stock them in the lake in a big net and have a kids week were the lil ones can go catch the trout
That's awesome! That's what one of the gentleman that was there was telling us.
There slow to eat due to shock.What worked for me when they stocked shocked rainbows at brackenridge park was 1/16 ounce rooster tales.White and fluorescent and other colors.
Gonna have to try that out next time. Even the pros that go all across the state following TPWD stocking Rainbow Trout said they were surprised they weren't biting.

I saw some nice Mallards, Scops and a solo Redhead. It might be my only chance to bag a Mallard. lol

I caught tons with panther martins up in Idaho even caught a huge cutthroat. I’ve tried here in Texas but they just won’t commit 😢
I think the Cormorants and Pelicans got to them. lol

100% from Texas. lol hopefully you, Koda and the family are doing well. We'll start fishing the jetties again once the water warms back up in the Spring.
Hey Matt ! those farm raised trout eat canned yellow corn under a small float . Sink it with a split shot Now to keep the carp off mite be hard to do ?
We tried Berkley Powerbait, canned sweet corn and marshamllows, no takers.

That's what I'm saying! If I didn't physically see them put the Rainbow Trout in the pond, I wouldn't believe that it was stocked.
What a waste of money and resources. They should stock with bass or even crappie.
Maybe some people need to call up TPWD and ask about that. That would be interesting.
Agreed some Yankee must have screamed for trout and now our taxes fund this waste of resources honestly put cats,bass,crappie and such trout won't survive long and as noted the Mexican eagles, hawks and egrets water turkeys fed well!
